  • 2:55 is the best part of the song in my opinion.

  • Hey. Checked out quite a few of your vids on your channel. And you are an awsome drummer. BTW. Cobus Potgieter (if you've heard of him) mentionoed your channel as one of the drummers that he likes alot these days during the first one of his "Cobus Live" shows on DrumChannel

  • If you didn't crack a smile at 2:19, you have no soul.

  • man ur getting me intouch with some seriously good music i have never heard of :D and for that alone i love you ... so with that and ur drumming skills i wanna bum you ... plenty homo :D

  • Hey Travis, is there a way to get the transcription of this song? Thanks!

  • you are amazing! any tips? Im trying to improve my left hand which is my weaker or slower hand.

  • dude u r mega bahdass

  • so tasty.....as always....k

  • @drummerkev66 Thanks, buddy!

  • i would definately agree that Travis is clearly playing well within himself here, but you also have to recognise there were a high number of cuts, showing he clearly must have made mistakes during the recording. Human after all?

  • @alex164 That doesn't necessarily mean it was a mistake, especially being that tune was mostly improvised.

  • i know its weird.. but travis is way overqualified for this. im used to hearing drummers that are just good enough to play this sort of thing. trav's drum machine like precision, while incredible, is almost too much here. their real drummer is gonna be fucked when he has this to compete with. physical drums sound awesome. that snare. maaaaan.

  • Dat snare.

  • this really reminds me of Four Year Strong

  • Weird tuning on his toms. His top tom sounds for lack of a better term perfect, but his floor tom almost sounds fake? Im not sure if anyone else is hearing it, but it sounds very tacky, and doesn't flow very well after hes played on his other tom.

  • @NateDaDrummzer Sounds almost like a kick drum. I do like it though. I think it's mixed that way so it can cut, this is a REALLY loud mix.

  • the snare sounds extra beefy here :O

  • MY GOD THAT SNAAAAARE!

  • A splash cymbal? Really? Don't see you using those very often..

  • Imagine how funny it would look it Travis performed live with this band with his ambidextrous setup..

  • what is this pop-punk shit. sorry travis, solid drumming but terrible music you're sessioning over.

  • @Bzong It's all money mannn

  • @lawrenceames That's true, I just like the prog stuff a lot better than this.

  • @lawrenceames A bit of money, a bit of fun too... If I was as great as Travis Orbin is, I'd like to play more catchy things sometimes...

And I really don't think this "very young" pop-rock band is such a great livelihood you know...

In this pop-rock style, I find this song quite cool anyway.

  • @Bzong You don't really choose what kind of music you play when people hire you to play for them. You play their music. If someone asks you to session for them, you don't really say no. Hell, this stuff can be a blast to play. He doesn't have anything to prove either.

  • @GeneralMillss I never said anything about how much fun he's having. All I said is that I don't like this pop-punk shit, and I'm not even criticizing him in any way.

  • @Bzong You're implying that the music he is playing is terrible, when he clearly enjoys it. Thus, criticism.

  • @GeneralMillss So I'm not allowed to say "the drumming is cool but the music is shit" which is what I was saying? Clearly I didn't mean the drum tracking, hence "good drumming". Did he create the guitars and vocals? No, he's merely sessioning.

Oh, and congratulations on contradicting one of your previous statements. I don't think I'm going to cause any more shit for Travis so I'm done.

  • @Bzong That's like you working in a shop I don't like and me coming in going "what is this shit? You can sell stuff, but this merchandise is terrible". When you're a working musician, you take what you get, and you're thankful for the pay you're getting to have fun playing music...

  • @Mp5Drummer And there's nothing wrong with that statement, it's a completely subjective opinion that no one should get butt hurt about. Please don't get pissed over my opinion.

  • @Mp5Drummer Exactly. You may not like the merchandise, so don't buy it. Buy something else. The whole discussion is pointless. Dude was never even criticizing Travis, he just doesn't like the merchandise, he'll buy something else....

  • @Bzong Work is work. It only helps his portfolio.

  • @garrettmillerdrums And I'm not allowed to express my opinion because of that? I think you're making this out to be more worse than it should be.

  • Hi Travis, would it be right to assume that the bass drum and snare hits are replaced with samples?

  • @tombojombo They're mic'd. I don't think so

  • @Bzong They sound can still be replaced in Pro Tools etc. I just wondered cause the sound is a little 'too' perfect every single time. Not that I doubt the man's abilities of course.

  • @tombojombo I think there's a video explaining his set-up, maybe he explains the production shit. Your guess is as good as mine, but the man's set sounds like the heavens.

  • @tombojombo They're blended with samples, aye, but not completely replaced.

  • 18" MDM Crash on the left of the screen?

  • @eBeauLive Listen...

  • @GeneralMillss ...?

  • @eBeauLive You can tell which is which by listening.

  • @GeneralMillss Oh really? Then can you tell me?... lol.

  • @eBeauLive 18" to his right, 19" to his left. Jesus I can't believe I actually had to type that.

  • @GeneralMillss Your an idiot. lol.

  • @eBeauLive That's his physical left. not the left of the screen.

  • haha he's leading with his right foot for once

  • face at 2:19... lmfao! class!

  • Guys, read the description. Go to his "Admit It" session for info regarding his kit and set up.

  • it took me till 2:50 to realize you were playing a standard setup

  • excellent drumming i loved it great work man

  • is that a NORMAL set up?! WHAT?!

  • Perfect balance of chops & taste! Like, "Gavin Harrison" kind of taste. Awesome!

  • Any chance of getting a video with Taylor on the "Travis Orbin Sound" at some point? I know I would definitely pay for something that went into detail about how you acheived the sound on the snare for this session!

  • @ReeBPM I've been contemplating writing up an interview and filming Taylor answering the questions in person but I don't know if he'd be into it, haha. He prefers to keep much of what he does to himself.

  • 2:43 - 3:22 fucking genius o.o

  • normal set up!? why dude?

  • @TacoBellismyfriend I'm guessing it's just for a certain feel and probably for a proper stereo image appropriate to the style

  • Maybe cut the vocals for your video next time? ha.........

  • WHERE'S THE BEARD!!!???

  • Dang! You always got something new up your sleeve. I love it!

  • what overhead mics are these?

  • @maggotgreece They're Blue Reactors I believe

  • NEw drums?

  • Hey Travis, can we know what snare is it please? :)

  • ...And amazing job, of course. Your improvised fills are just so damn tasty. 'Lot of experience behind those things.

  • The toms sound like miniature bass drums, hehe.

  • The reactors really are better than any other overheads you've used!

  • Can we see an Animals as Leader cover please? :)

  • this is so amazing!

  • Dat snare sound

  • SOLID!

  • what kit are you using in this video?

  • Travis. Everything you touch is amazing. Keep going.

  • @drummernickm Thanks so much!

  • Either you used the same magical stand or you got another one, seriously, where'd you get em??? O.o

  • You should post some high quality live performance with Of Legends or smth

  • Comment removed

  • @dennychaos Then dont watch them......

  • Is there any reason you aren't using your own kit in these sessions? Was it down to personal preference or where the band/ Taylor particularly persistent that you use his kit?

  • The bass drum sounds perfect for this music. Nice work as always.

  • omg! Travis playing a so called "normal" drum set up?! :D :O

  • first :O

  • @cileth grats
