Great song, and an interesting cover. Ani doesn't cover many songs by other people, and when she does they usually signify. The passing of time, futility, sorrow. Wishing you could somehow escape what you can never escape from in this life. It was unsettling to hear Ani sing this, because she has always seemed to be so full of life and strength and love. It might not be meant as a personal statement, but Ani's songs so often do seem personal.

Why do we have to get older all the time?

I think it's more about the guitar playing that might throw people off more than tempo. Two of my absolute favorite songwriters and guitarists, but Ani and John are on different planets in terms of playing and singing style. Great to hear Ani on any prine song honestly. All this just to say god do I love the both of them.

Really? I think if u really look at the tempo of hers compared to him singing his own damn song...u might find that hers is slower than his. Even if...Its called art and the interpretation therein... Ani's a gem.
