  • The song in which Paul McCartney, prick PAR EXCELLENCE, pushed R&R great one side, depriving him of the chance to sing this song.

  • MERRY CHRISTMAS! - from Philippines

  • So, here 27 years after you should have thought that things had changed for the better. That we wouldnt let world disasters happen again in the scale they did back then, however it seems like the world is going in the wrong direction at the moment. Now it is not just hunger and war that are the problems, but also a fragile climate a greedy world industry etc etc. Lets all try to make this world a better place for our kids and grandkids. We owe them that...

  • Bob Geldof is my hero.

  • On 20 July, the United Nations officially declared famine in two regions of southern Somalia, the first time a famine has been declared by the UN in thirty years. Tens of thousands of people are believed to have died in southern Somalia before famine was declared. On 3 August, the UN declared famine in three other regions of southern Somalia, Famine was expected to spread across all regions of the south in the following six weeks.

Please remember what "do they know it's christmas" was about.

  • Was Meatloaf there?

  • if they had to do this again who should be there..?

  • Two quick questions, please... First question: Who is the second singer to start the song??? ---- and Second question: Who is the artist that is singing at 2:34??? Please and Thanks alot! =D

  • @iluv777kstewart The second guy to start singing is Bob Geldof, the founder of the Band Aid supergroup. As to the other person, I unfortunately have no idea.

  • @pianosoccergirl7 I believe you're talking about George Michael, is that the one you're asking? Guy with beard by Geldof's side?

  • @iluv777kstewart The person singing is Sade im pretty sure at least!

  • the guy at 1,10 allmost sounds like he had his tounge pierced, like the one in rat race

  • I would like to be there, but I was born in the year '89

  • I was born 30 years too late. :(

  • @Muckknuckle that means you were born in 2015...

  • @johnnytobacco1327 No, it doesn't.

  • Spring Time is coming?!!?!?!? WHAT??

  • @lovesthebike1 Don't ask. It's Bono (at least I'm pretty sure that was his voice) and he loves to improvise.

Or, if it wasn't Bono, then I have no clue XD

  • FREDDY! WITH THE PINK SHIRT!!

  • Paul Mccartney and Freddie Mercury!!!! (: too bad I was born 8 years later /:

  • Look Children, REAL song with REAL people :)

  • @XixcaolanxiX Good one!!!

  • freddie got mic 2 sec

  • Freddie es una estrella... no necesita pararse en frente para dejar ver su brillo...

  • i like collaberations for good causes

  • Freddie Mercury and Queen had already accomplished the greatest performance of the day! I'm sure the others were a bit jealous, and its obvious that he was quite ignored here, but Freddie's spirit was huge, and he got into this song beautifully, even if he wasn't given a mic, or allowed to stand front row! We still love you Darling!

  • SING IT TO THE WORLD!

  • david bowie <3

  • AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALL! Freddie <3

  • oh and at 3:04 bono and freddie hug :) legends

  • WOW..Bono, Freddie Mercury and Roger Daltry all in one screenshot! Best performences were U2 and Queen that day, they stole the show!! Still, the best part in the whole song has definitely got to go to Bono, nobody else can or ever will match his passion or voice.

  • bowie <3

  • I'm 54 years old and this is still the greatest "aid" concert ever, and the best ending. God Bless.

  • increíble escuchar a bob geldof cantando con ese entusiasmo... y ahora mismo ya no soporta la puta canción hehe

  • this makes my hairs stand up.it mattered to them all not like the frauds who pretend to care now, this song was my childhood, merry xmas everyone

  • that only bit of mercury wow ....is better that all the rest my friends

  • me hubiese gustado estar ahi ! :(

  • who's idea was to demolish wembley arena??? is the colosseum of our times

  • Freddie Elton and Macca in the background as some screetching bitch backing singer of Bowie's hogs the mic. The skank shoud be shot!

  • George Michael and David Bowie haven't aged at all. Damn. That's more than 25 years ago!!

  • biggest event in the history of man spettatcolare...

  • Freddie should have sung a complete part of this song like david, george and bono did

  • Freddie Oh Freddie. You are the best. I love Freddie.

  • the tech guys are so noob!

so few mic's for so many performers!

  • 2:58 Freddie's 2 second in this song :/

  • As much as I'd like to hear Freddie take the mic, he'd already made his mark on the night and was simply allowing others to have the spotlight. True class.

  • @dogpaddler75 : Ya took the words right out of my mouth. Freddie Mercury forever!!!! :-)

Man, there must have been one hell of an afterparty!!

  • @gstaadt and now we have Gaga and Bieber...why I wasn't born at least 5 years earlier?

  • love David Bowie :D

  • Who misses the 80's?

  • i love the bit where freddie puts his arm round bono, apparently freddie had cornerd bono earlier in the day and told him that " we have agreed...... that we like you" hahahahaha

  • Bono & Freddie Mercury sigging together in the same mic? priceless

  • was i the only one singing along?

    lol

  • 80's classic...bring back the memories..

  • give that fucking mic to freddie!

  • @94frz i love when freddie humiliates bono ahah

  • @erikmercury87 me too man!! LOL

  • What a show. Intersting to see Freddie Mercury in there whoopin it up.

  • love this

  • i just had an emotional meltdown because i was born in the completely wrong time period lol. i was born in 96. i didnt really get to experience the 90s. wasnt alive in the 80s or before. things just arent the same anymore...

  • @jessicaaxo7 I agree. I was born in 1989. And all the music from my time is subpar to yesterday's music.

  • When Mercury gets nearer to the microphone... you don't hear anyone else...

  • @carooomargheee What part is that?

  • morrissey was sooo right... this is disgusting.

  • @saxengee2 disgusting Live Aid Whatchu talkin bout willis?

  • @saxengee2

Why? Because he wasn't there or he wasn't invited? The event was organised to raise awareness and funds. Does this offend you?

As someone who remembers it at the time, it was an extremely emotional time. Babies were being shown on the evening news dying each night - from the most basic thing - a lack of food and/or thirst. Each and everyone on the stage felt like we did - this was unacceptable. This was a much less cycnical era. Who is still giving?

  • @saxengee2 Shut up

  • el que sobre sale es freddie mercury por qe no lo dejaron cantar a el solo se uviera oido mejor

  • This IS the BEST song in the world sang by THE geatest singers. Nothing - NOTHING will ever top this. Thank you Live Aid.

  • Cette voix de Freddie Mercury! Je ne comprends pas car ils ne chantent pas plus de

  • I <3 Bob...

    ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ღ۩۞۩ღ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

  • and looks at us today. honestly, we suck

  • The people in England and the UK in general have ALWAYS known how to have an amazing time and respect music...sad to say the Philadelphia part of the show could not compare...with the exception of Eric Clapton and Layla.

  • What an amazing gathering of artists.

We will probably never see this again.. ever.

Back in '85 people were truly talented, no auto-tune, no computers.. just pure and raw talent: Freddie Mercury, Bono, Sting and 25 years later those artists are still performing.

Unlike todays artists because within 25 years from now we wont be hearing anything from them.

  • @MrDunkJunk I surely agree ,and I hope I wont hear todays ,,Artists,, annymore in about 25 years...... But to be totaly honest I wont give them 10 !!!

  • Comment removed

  • This just makes me gloriously happy.

  • Why is everybody mad at bono? I also agree that Freddie should have sang a bit

  • @SuperFsho

You have to realise we all watched Queen's glorious performance a couple of hours before the finale. They had a huge audience and succeeded. Then U2 came out and we all fell in love with them. The finale trumped it all. Even my Dad, who hated pop music, stopped playing snooker when the finale came on - it was huge at the time. Freddie surpassed what was huge at the time. RIP.

  • i wish i could of been at this concert

  • @nemtigergely yep, that's roger :)

  • 0:33

Thats Roger Taylor in the background?

  • FREDDIE, NOTHING COMPARES TO YOU

  • SOMEONE SHOULD HAVE GIVEN FREDDIE A MIC!!!

  • en nu zijn we weer terug naar af..... zo veel kindjes die daar dood gaan

  • The only time you really hear the crowd loudest of all is when they sing *well tonight thank god its them instead of you*.

  • Best song ever recorded, ever to be recorded. And No Freddie godrest his soul was not the best vocalist... The worst lines that you could give someone out of the song were courageously sang by Bono - Well tonight thank god its them instead of you. I dont care what people think of him now but then he was my greatest hero. He said the words none of us wanted to say, but thought. I was a teenager at the time and im glad this happened in my life. Best song ever.

  • @mtlsixshooter i wish i could swap live with you. All i get now is ridiculed by chavvy ******* discussing the next rap or pop song...... Sigh..... Very few people my age know just how great the music of thos 30 golden years was.. oh well , there loss i suppose but i envy you for being able to grow up listening to pure awesomeness

  • Hard to believe it was 26 years ago. What a privilege it was to grow up in the 80's. These were great musicians and very great people.

  • To be honest, why aren't there more concerts like this? What happened to charity? What happened to hands across america? I remember both these events. I think, laughingly people would rather be texting and being on the cellphone rather than help those in need. We need to wake up and look in the mirror because we all can be in the shoes of those in need. Shame on Ayn Rand!

  • Fred the world! Can't believe they didn't let Fredde sing on this, but he would probably ruined the song because he's in another class and the others would have been shit! R.I.P My man!

  • The greatest concert finale ever and the idea of today's supposed 'pop stars' somehow superseding it, is a pipe dream...

  • man bob geldof an irish man made the show! then u2 an irish band rocked the fucking house down BRILLANT the irish are so cool queen was brillant too :)

  • @reyjay07 Sorry, but it wasn't Bono that had the best performance. It was Queen and everyone knows that. It's well documented and well deserved! Freddie Mercury was and is the best ever!

  • @MsSweetunes nah it was bono i watched both and bono was miles better :) thanks for ur opintion tho

  • I've got a question for you all, which performance was the most memorable do you think?

  • @20001854

    Queen, without a doubt, followed by U2 - the biggest band at the time. That's my opinion.;

  • @lkofron I think U2. For a band pretty much starting out, they must have been scared shitless of all the people they were up against. They are so passionate about what they do, especially Bono, he got right in there!

  • @20001854

Queen - never had one man had 80,000 simultaneously eating out of his hand at one time. RIP Freddie. What do you think?

  • The Climax of the Age of Music

  • FFFFFEEEEEEEEEEDDDDDDDDDD THEEE WORRRRRRLLLLLLDDDD

  • George forever...

  • I'm currently giggling inanely at freddie joining in! AAARRRGGHHH LOVE THIS

  • USA for AFRICA song was better than this one

  • @MrDontstareitsrude Yes but this one was better than the "We are the world" at the other Live Aid.The "We are the World" sucked live. But this one rulled

  • @KaftiBrizola

Of course but the studio version of we are the world was awesome.

The only problem I have with this song is that Freddie never sang it :-(

  • @MrDontstareitsrude Yeah you re right m8 ;)

  • OBVIOUSLY THEY FUCKING KNOW ITS CHRISTMAS TIME YOU IGNORANT BASTARDS... THEY ARE MOSTLY ALL CHRISTIAN AND CELEBRATED CHRISTMAS LONG BEFORE EUROPEAN/WESTERN CULTURES UGHHHHH

  • @dreamygrl13 Caps lady, I'll not even go into your knowledge of History but, this song boosted the awareness of famine, misery and what war did to Africa. One can trace back things like USA for Africa, the increase funding to ONGs in Africa and several efforts to increase life conditions, medicines and basic needed goods to African people to this song and the awareness it caused. So, perhaps you can find better arguments than nit picking this song's lirics to justify your rage outbursts.

  • such a huge display of ARROGANCE AND IGNORANCE

  • @dreamygrl13 YOUR A CUNT

  • @MrAJFranchise

    It's actually YOU'RE A CUNT NOT "YOUR"

  • @dreamygrl13 i dont care Your still a cunt

  • @MrAJFranchise

Meh too bad it is true .. there is a ton of controversy behind this song.

  • @MrAJFranchise

btw the word CUNT doesn't phase me at all since I use it myself and the word is hilarious .. you WILL have to do better than that lol

  • @dreamygrl13 ok eichman calm down. fuckin hell wat a cunt

  • bob and bono are fuckin scum and thats from an irshman

  • @MrAJFranchise so wat,, i rader be a cunt then a scumbag like monsanto bono

  • @anthonybarrett79 SHut.Up. Dont talk till u get to h*** for sayin that

  • @anthonybarrett79 how the hell is Bono scum!?!? Are you mental!? I must be missing something here

  • 2:58 freddie is the highlight of the whole song

  • @TheDiddlysquat - wow, that was easily the most ignorant dick comment I've ever read...and that's saying something when it comes to youtube. I'm not going to bother educating you on all the reasons you are wrong, all the things Bob believes in and has faught for when he could have just looked for the next million that people lined up to offer him....

I get it....you did nothing with your life, Bob accomplished great, incredible things.....so just eat a bullet and save us all your whining.

  • That adam ant...so f -ing hot...
