Aside from some Pacific islands, New Zealand, Japan, the Caribbean islands, Ireland, the UK, Madagascar, Iceland, Indonesia, Philippines, Taiwan and Papua New Guinea, no other countries are fully girt by sea. Indonesia & PNG are very loosely included. Wind back to the late 1878 when this song was made, of the listed countries above, none were countries except Japan and you lot as they were all mere extensions of the Danish, British, German, French and Spanish empires.

Our Monarch that the UK, Canada and NZ share with us is set up so our governments can't decide to go against the will of the citizens because we can ask Queen Elisabeth to dismiss our governments. Under a republic, we citizens will no longer have that power. Thus our government will just do what ever they please. I wouldn't trust ANY Australian to rewrite our constitution.

@Tourettes91 Another change I would suggest would be to the Electoral Act to reflect the changes with an amendment saying that should the President deem that the Government is unable to govern he/she may dissolve both Houses of Parliament without the consent of the Prime Minister and an immediate election must be held within 28 days of the dismissal.
