If something drops out of the product, you can ask VELUX Customer Services to replace it as faulty - they will organise it to be collected and will replace it without question. They'll never duck out on their responsibilities in my experience.
The bit they don't tell you is that if a bit drops out of the unit while you are fitting them, then you have to basically lever it back out from the reverse side with a covered or padded flat bladed screwdriver and hope you don't break the glass. That is Velux's advice from their customer care line. Been there today. We survived.
