Tornado touching down - Wichita Co, TX - April 7, 2008

Thank god it missed us. My friend out in the country had her barn hit by a small tornado that day. It didn't actually touch down in the city limits. Legend has it, that Electra, TX used to have so many tornadoes that a Native American Shaman came in & blessed the town to make them go around. Good for me but bad for the storm chasers haha! I do have great respect for you & love watching your tv show & videos. I just hope your WORK doesn't bring you around here again! :-P

I live in Electra. I was cooking dinner when something in my gut told me to turn off the stove & go outside onto the back porch. I stood up on a bench & looked to the west & I saw a funnel hanging down out of the sky. I ran in the house told my husband to grab a bag & get all the photo albums asap & I grabbed my son & our pest & we hauled *** to my aunt's house. We were all in the "fraidy hole" before the sirens went off. There were 3 areas of circulation overhead, U could see clear sky in them!

Red River is definetly a tuff area to chase. Not very chaser friendly. Too many roads that end up being cut off because of the river. The Big Country section of Texas is another place that is tricky when it comes to getting close to the tornado. Very long stretches without intersections to make a turn to the storm. Aggrivating. I know what you were going thru, trying to get closer to this storm.

I feel you pain on the loss of such a tornado sight. I was about 3 and 1/2 miles away near my relative families farm watching this of course. It was fascinating but we remembered to call the neighbors in warning of course.

it happens in America because parts of the country have perfect weather conditions at certain times of the year (like spring, and some days of summer and fall) to produce these super cells (which are REALLY strong thunder storms capable of rotation, which can sometimes produce tornadoes)

I am not going to say it is fake or Real, simply because I have seen many storm cells when I visited tornado alley and spent much time reading about tornadoes since I was a small child (and volcanoes and other natural disasters). All I can say it is its a lovely storm cell and I would love to see the actually tornado. The Cloud coloration deprived me of such in this video, but still lovely video and nice storm cell. Stay safe and don't get too close to the show. :) very nice

im in Iowa Park, how far away was this? Burk? or outside? the sirens sounded as i was getting a video of the clouds forming before the rotation started. Very windy, and you notice how the wind stopped completely then it got really chilly for a few mins, and warm again? freaky. There were 3 different places we could see that it could have been coming down, but your video is better than mine. so we never got a confirmation of where, but since you said red river, im guessing burk.
