Your dog is probably either a Black German Shepherd Dog or a "Groenendael" which is indeed a black Belgian Shepherd. Black is a normal GSD color variation, not a separate breed.

For those who asked, a fenced yard with secure gates in needed. Vet bills, including dental cleanings at least once a year, if not twice...feeding, grooming...it takes a lot of time and sometimes when you don't feel like it, or not well yourself, you still have to give your dog attention that it needs and deserves...You also have to expect the possibility to have to provide lifelong medicines and supplements. Dogs don't have fine dining, tv, hobbies, all they have is YOU.

@eliiL0ve Hi. At 8 weeks old she is still growing her teeth so she needs something to chew on! If she continues to bite as she gets older there is a method where you can grab her firmly by the scruff of her neck and gently shake from side to side and make a growling noise as this is what her mother would have done to stop this behaviour. There is also the other side of it as well! Dogs generally chew stuff up like shoes clothes on the line because they are boored!! Answer: Lots of toys and walks
@eliilove: Sorry I dont believe in smacking or beating my dog!!!!Now im not saying that you can let them loose and do what ever they want like bite people, you just have to be firm its all in the tone of the voice and how you handle your dog. You need to show him/her that you are the alpha male from a young age and they will follow your every command and protect you with there lives!!!! When people have issues with there dogs behaviour eg.. Bitting chewing etc.. Its usualy the owners fault true
@narnyslip Thank you for the tips and I want to know how I can start teaching her that she needs to listen to me because for example if she's biting /pulling on my pants, I will tell her in a firm voice "No!" but she doesn't listen....so it's hard to get her to stop. And once she grabs a hold of something with her mouth she doesn't let go. @eliiL0ve I have a german shepherd and there is only one methode that I would ever use to raise my dog with. Go the leerburg kennels for the absolute best dog training website ever. I raised my GS starting at 8 weeks with only this method and he turned out amazing. There are also important articles there about puppies biting.
@eliiL0ve puppies explore with their mouths, it's natural, but must learn never to bite human skin. GSDs need 100% bite inhibition, but it's easy to teach. Get lots of chew toys to redirect her/ satisfy her need to bite. Don't play rough with her or use squeak toys as they over excite. Train her daily: make it short, fun & consistent. If she bites, do a high pitched "yelp", stop the game & turn your back on her for a while - don't feel bad. Do this every time and she'll learn in a few days.

@Ike1727 PART 1: First of all it takes alot of money to keep a dog like this eg.. Food, vet bills, etc... But consider how much security and insurance costs it is well worth it!!!! He eats twice a day and the meal consists of raw meat about a kilo and 2 cups of kibble. They need a big yard and plenty of excersise, they also need to go for walks around your hood or a park. I take my boy twice a day 1 in the morning and 1 at night. What to look for in this breed!! Check the parents out if you can?
@Ike1727 PART 2: Look for signs of hip problems, very common in this breed!! Also make sure that the dogs back is relatively straight and not tapering down to much as this can lead to all kinds of problems with the dog! Check the teeth and make sure they dont overlap at the front of the jaw. What you can expect from this breed is nothing but magic!!! Very smart very protective He or she will gaurd your teritory with there life!! and will also be your best friend till death. Hope this helped.....

@narnyslip this goes to the majority of people that bother to even read this. color should be the last thing you look at in a dog. shepherds are known for their hip problems from bad breeding. I do own a black shepherd but I looked at breeding first then I looked for the color and sex I wanted. there are a lot of people out there that are only breeding for color and those dogs can have problems others dont. Just my two cents.

This dog is not the perfect dog for everyone. Breeding suites dogs differently. I own a working line shepherd and is always on the go. These dogs need considerable amount of exercise as their original intended use was herding. Show lines tend to be more laid back. There are a lot of dog breeds out there

@smithpot Thanks. Its quite easy to make your dog eat from the masters hand only. all you need to do is make sure your dog doesnt eat untill you tell him to and only you!!! In other words you are to feed him only every meal and when you put his bowl down he must wait till you and only you tell him/her to eat. Then when he/she gets it try it with someone else around you and ask them to give the command to eat. You must be firm!!!!!!! and very important use the same words and commands all the time

In Canada Havelberg Dog Academy in Orono Ontario .My Fritz wwas an alpha and weighed a solid 148 pounds. He weighed 18 pounds at 8 weeks.Just a magnificent animal.

I have a solid black GS...he is incredible. He weighs 120 lbs. and is not over weight. He is our protector...loves the kids...but doesnt like strange men. Very loyal and very smart. Looking for a solid black female to breed him with. He's 4 and still a virgen.

your black GSD has gold/yellow fur between his toes like my black one, i couldn't your dogs legs properly, but mine has gold/yellow fur on the backs of all 4 legs as well

@schonteufel333 As he is getting older the sable color is coming out between his paws and back of his legs. He is 4 or 5 in this vid. He is now 9 and getting on.

In Canada Havelberg Dog Academy in Orono Ontario .My Fritz wwas an alpha and weighed a solid 148 pounds. He weighed 18 pounds at 8 weeks.Just a magnificent animal.

@congoman775 Sorry took so long to reply. I got him off my old boss who bred this breed but no longer breeds. From what i know his blood lines go back to Germany and his mum was a Belgium Shepherd. Good mix if you ask me!! Thanks for your comments cheers.

I used to have a white german shepherd but we had to put him down because he had hip dysplasia. I miss him. His name was Charlie and he died around 2001. T_T Your dog is beautiful. I love GSDs. :)

My boyfriend's dog looks just like yours. His name is Buddy and is well fitting to his name. They are very friendly dogs contrary to belief. Buddy always comes over to me nudging my hand for a pet. :)

Any aggression in your dog? Mine is pretty playful unless he is tied, then he is extremely aggressive towards anyone who approaches him.

He was just staring into space lol He is breathing heavy because i just got back from walking him and we live in QUEENSLAND where it can get very muggy and warm. He has got a black fur coat on all the time youd be panting too!!
