A quick google search for galaxy tab dock connector should provide results, all your really looking for is to be able to move the audio and power connectors from having to be connected to the top and bottom of the unit to save space.
Pretty cool. I did mine through the RCA with a blue tooth mouse (posted video). The tab screen would be way better. Also this would solve my problem with not being able to find a rca charger/splitter. What did you use to secure the tablet in place? Nice job the screen is way better than my car screen :)
@BlackImpact yes i got a basic dock untit, took out the circuit board,. glued it to the back of the tab, that gave me power and speaker out in a spot that i could easily attach the cables. i ran the speaker out to a standard car amp mounted in the trunk
@goatk1 it worked out amazingly, no problems and using rhapsody in the car means never having to worry about what music people want. its all availavble
mind posting a video how-to on getting this to work? Here i am thinking about buying a $500 head unit PLUS all the bluetooth and nav modules when i can get a Tab for that price and have way more value.
@Montu4g63 power s direct from the iginition switched 12 volt though the cigarettle lighter power adaptor. the unit stays on but the screen turns off when main power is cut. the reason i want it on on its own batteries is that it updates podcasts and stuff uin the background so next time i get into the car, the unit has already downloaded stuff.
@Montu4g63 power was tied though the 12 volt switched line in the car, basically though the car charger that you can buy as an acessory. when power to the car is turned off, the screen blanks but the unit continues to run on its battery. i want that cause i have it auto download podcasts each hour , so when i get in the car they are always upto date
Dam bro i luv it im trying to do the same with mine but it wont b that easy in my case being my dash a lil different ive seen other vidz but there old i was happy to c urs sense it is a newer vid just trying get ideas
I was about to do the same but dual-use the tablet as a mobile computer+entertainment.
What's holding my purchase is for a decent rom (stock is rubbish) and perhaps a user interface that compliments a car (theres many on the market but theyre quite bad at it).
For instance, a real FM radio on the tablet and a radio widget would go hand in hand.
Where is the internet connection coming from?

Remember to get the special charger cable that allows fast charging and connect that to a constant 12 volt line in the car.

how did you rig the power? does it go ahead and turn on and off with the ignition?

@collegeboyslive
I see, if the unit were to freeze and need a hard reset is there an easy way to pop it out?
how were you able to make it shut off the screen on ignition off? wouldn't it normally just go to run off the battery and keep the screen on?
Montu4g63 10 months ago
@Montu4g63 yes 1 screw removes the plastic moulding. since the buttons on the side acess acess there is no reall need to get to anything on the back
