  • I'm so disappointed with the fret cutter that came with the kit. I was doing a bound fretboard so i needed to cut the excess tangs. Installed 1 fret so far and the cutter's ends are already chipped!!! Total waste of money.

  • Do this add on an archtop guitar with glued on neck

  • do this add on an archtop guitar with a glued on neck

  • i'll just have someone do it for me... very hassle to do that by myself... :| but still pretty complete and cool

  • people be wise, don't go and just buy something because it is so neatly advertised on stewmac. lot's of it are just good old tools from a hardware store with a few modifications that can be made yourself. the only trouble you might have are the precision milled tools, but hey it's still cheaper to buy stock steel and have it machined in your local shop than buying a sanding beam for $100. the day I saw that on their site I lost my respect for their business. shame on you

  • He makes it look so easy. What a BS.

  • Is it really that easy? Seriously! If so, I will buy. But i am doubtful.

  • Why are there two holes in the fret rocker? I must confess that I just use them to bolt the thing securely to the inside lid of my fret toolbox.

  • Great little kit, but $175 seems a lot of cash for a set of tools that out to go for $40-$50 all together...

  • @modfather1965

all luthery tools stupidly expensive!!! there just greedy!!

  • @modfather1965 Where do you see them that cheap? Everywhere I look, a decent fret file goes for $30-$40 on it's own.

  • How much does this kit cost?

and is it worth it if I'm only going to build probably 1-2 guitars of my own?? (Im in the process of finishing one now, and am just starting the fretboard)

    thx

  • To Mr. Steward Mcdonald i would like a free book on your guitar Fret and basic setup refrretting Fender Telecaster that i wolud like to put bigger frets on. Like bass frets on my telecaster. You can email me at victormedina@yahoo.com Thank you very much for you technikes very tully Victor

  • Thank you very much for the demo. I have you guys in my bookmarks and I have ordered some parts here and there. Just wanted to say thanks.

  • Wow, i gotta get that fret kit, eventho i have no idea how to fret a guitar...................yet! lolz

  • sometimes you can get guitars in Pawn Shops that have stuff wrong with them too. I got a nice Rogue for $50 bucks! heck, the neck is worth that much! Its a 24 fret neck super strat dual humbucker style guitar. Basically looks like an Ibanez RG.. in fact, somebody put an Ibanez Tremolo on it. I may do something crazy with it. Trash the Rogue body and make a 24 fret Pine Telecaster.. who knows.. For $50 its expendable :)

  • @brandon9271 Strat necks will not fit on a Tele, unless it's a '72 dual-humbucker type.

  • I'm modifying an SX tele for my step-son. Puttin lollars in it, working on frets (which are pretty good to begin with). - $110 for a tele that looks, plays, sounds and feel better than a standard squier. Total cost with mods: $260.... not to shabby! I'm gonna buy one for myself, as well. I mean, $110! Way too much FUN FOR THE MONEY!!

  • awesome guide.

  • Where I will buy it??

  • Looking for Irag?

    Irag's in the Middle East!

  • Great vid, but, I've got binding on my fretboard. No way I'm attempting this myself, I'll leave that for pro's like yourself.

  • Does someone know where can i get these tools or the complete kit in MEXICO ??Thanx for showing us how to work on our guitars and Congrats Dude.....

  • check out user:blobloblaw he has allkinds of cheap sollutions for expensive tools.stewart mcdonald has an online shop where you can buy litterly everything u need for guitar building

  • they ship international

  • Awesome overview. The only thing I would suggest for do-it-yourselfers purchasing the kit would be Micro-Mesh Soft Touch Finishing Pads for a final mirror-like shine on the frets.
