  • What a fun day that was. March 8th, 9th.???, 1965. 3rd Battalion, 9th Marines landed and were greeted not by VC but by nuns, school girls & the media. Brig Gen Karch was pissed off. He felt that we landed at the wrong place, shoulda been Haiphong Harbor right? Spent most of that year on the Danang Air Base or the hills overlooking it.

  • Very good video, my father landed there in 1965 during Operation Starlite!

    fought the 1st VC regiment.

  • look at those m14's... i wouldn't mind handling one of those instead; one shot, one kill. troops are taught to disciplined single fire shots, so why not use a rifle with enough kick to get the job done. that's at least my opinion from a guy who's going to be a future marine rifleman :)

  • @emarin706 Absolutely right. Those m-16s were like plastic toys that jammed a lot. I used my M-14 for my whole tour and never had a problem.

  • my grandfather told me he killed 75 american invaders he is a true hero to us because the american had all the best of weapons he also told me most of them were cowards who ran from them and cry like babys when captured he was not a communists he was just protecting his family and country from american murderers who killed women and childs and bomb villages full of inocents to make us afraid americas are the war monger terrorist trash of the world

  • @endracismguy WHAT KIND OF IDIOT THINKS THEY CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE ON THIS SITE THEIR POLITICAL VIEWS AND COMMENTS ONLY TAKE A MOUSE CLICK TO DELETE SUCH BADASS REVOLUTIONARIES HUH..........................ALSO DONT BELIEVE WHAT YOU SEE ON THIS SITE AFTER ALL IT IS THE INTERNET IF YOU BELIEVE EVERYTHING ON THIS SITE YOU ARE A COMPLETE FOOL!!

  • @gklcinc cant you think of anything original to say gynoclinic hehe hey im just bored see so i stir you bastards up purely for my own entertainment lol you americans all have guilty consciences where as i relax and dont care about your war on terror that rules your life hehe

  • @endracismguy Your grand daddy was wrong, every battle we fought against the NVA/VC we inflicted way more casualties, it was the VC that would not Stand and fight, instead they would Hit, and Run, and set up Booby Trap's, not that those tactics were bad, or ineffective because they certainly were, and it was hard to kill an ememy you couldn't see, that's why we dropped so much ordance and used alot of artillery because it was all a US Solider could do to kill the little Dink bastard's

  • hard to believe that's the beginning of the u.s. combat troop involvement in vietnam.

The U.S. was now firmly involved in Vietnam.

  • look at all them girls at 1:45

already ready to sell their rotten pussys

just look at them, waiting for some big nigger dick to come out the patrol boat, these damn viet girls are already ready to sell their pussys

  • @MyNameISfockYou lol silly, blacks were segregated.

  • @Noobssuckass300 Why bring up race? this video, and the Marines that are landing has nothing to do with race, your the reason there is still so much friction between black's and whites, let it go.

  • @jackm3r are you black?

  • Great to see the p-5 s brings back allot of memories.

  • the american never known that some of the girls on the beach could be a VC spying on them.

  • The coward american betraying the south vietnamese people, they left their troulbe mess for the south vietnam ...american has killed south vietnamese president Diem and landing american troops in vietnam. Then they could not fight the vietnam war anymore, they gave up and leaving their ally south vietnamese slaughtered by communist. What a coward and shameful americun.America owes SouthVietnam a life .ANY MORE STUPID question?

  • @saigonnative We didn't have to land in vietnam. We didn't have to stay and fight for 10 YEARS. We didn't have to fight another persons war! You should start to appreciate what we did do. And how dare you call these brave soldiers cowards!

  • @saigonnative You Must not live in America. you think all americans are Marines You uninformed poor little spoiled chiled ..Your mother should have handed you over to a marine in a baby basket but instead vietnamese women handed over bombs in baby blankets to marines and blew there damn heads off I seen it happen i was there now lets talk about betraying and lets talk about cowards Buddy when a man is in hell life dont mater let alone whats fair or unfair evidently you havent been to hell yet

  • @OldMarineDog speak the truth!

  • Serve your country - What is your country how do they serve you? Saw TV prog bout MIA pilots in Laos.Wives told not2even declare publicly their husband's missing.Reason=Laos bombing not sanctioned by USgovernment.Only sanctioned by those crooks Nixon&Kissinger.Wives never got any info from US government. 1had death threats& house broken into & letters stolen by CIA.These people getu into idiotic war then wives treated like that. Biggest enemy of US people is their own government

  • Ho chi Minh, Vietnam's communist founder, is a disguting TRAITOR and MURDERER. He was a member of the Third Communist International established in 1919 by Lenin. He gave up Paracel & Spratly archipelagos with large oil resources to Red China. He even ordered to murder his own mistress named Nong thi Xuan when she threatened to disclose her sexual relationship with him since that would destroy his image as a "Father" of Vietnam who "sacrifices" his whole life for Vietnam revolution.

  • i was with the 2/3 echo.radioman. usmc radioman. fought the hill fights apr 67

hill 861 & 881s, was also in the iron triangele. semper fi my bros. johnny c. usmc

  • 1:05 guy falls out Lol

  • surprised that the marines seem to still be wearing their WW2-ish uniforms (though it changes as the conflict goes on i suppose)

  • Every soldier who fought for his side or his country needs respect.

They just fought like they have told to or for their country.

But it's the reason why they need to fight which makes it bad.

Mostly it's about money, property, power, filling the big bosses their bankaccounts...

No president, no king, no politician isn't their for power or money.

They won't make the world better...

  • he likes living here though

  • After the Soviet Union's collapse in 1991, the communist authority in Vietnam switched to its big brother Red China, a new leader of a few remaining communist nations including China, North Korea, Vietnam, Laos, and Cuba, for China's backup to remain in power in Vietnam. There are ten divisions of more than 100,000 Chinese troops disguised as mine workers in the central highlands, who will repeat another Tiananmen Square massacre in case Vietnamese revolt against the communist regime.

  • every single man that served in that war is a hero period...

  • did your boyfriend tell you say that or you think of that all by yourself

  • listen faggot thats the greates thing about this country if you don't like LEAVE

  • Like what?

  • yeah your a retard just trying to start shit because you hiding behind a computer screen. done

  • you too...

  • How about you go risk your life in a war?

  • stfu u redneck

  • A real AMERICAN is an AMERICAN LOSER!!!

  • To stupid, psycho, pro-communist, anti-america LittleMonkey1409:

From your profile, you are a Vietnamese with a chinese name and live in the U.S. You hate America so much (Thank God for 9-11), and admire Ho chi Minh and his communists, so how did you get in America (immigrants/refugees/illegals) and why don't you just leave America to join your communist friends in Vietnam? Or you just lied about your country of residence in your profile and currently live in Vietnam?

  • I was a boy as the war in Vietnam began, I think the very first Marines landed in Da Nang summer 64. Every day I have seen that war pics on TV news - for the next 10 years. Also in Austria we watched that war pictures every evening. Too much people died on both sides. 1973 the jungle combats ended and march 75 the last GIs left Saigon by helicopter, from the roof of the US Embassy - and just some minutes later Charly conquered this town and called Saigon Ho Chi Minh City for the next 20 years.

  • as you have arrived in hurry you have escaped hurry.

  • vietnam win this fuckin war

  • no sound?

  • wow, my dad was a Marine in Danang during this war

  • Tell your father He has my Respect God Bless him! my father was a WWII VET

  • Thanks S, when we were very young my mother & siblings would pack a box with small things to send to my father who was a gunnerySergeant in Danang. My mom would hold up a recorder and we would say into it 'hi daddy' I still have a tiny jacket that he sent me from overseas. Surely the war was more tragic for the Vietnamese people . My family was also greatly affected.

Years later Marines played taps at his funeral while youngMarines folded the flag with tears in their eyes

  • Thats a touching story,The recording of your voices had to carry him through the evil of war..I'm sorry to hear about his passing..I'm sure he was a great man and dad.. Sure families where affected on both sides of the field but thats the reality of war...take care and GodBless!

  • so was my uncle. He was/still is a Marine .I guess he was at daNang in '67 '68 . He (i believe) was a Huey mechanic ..??

"Happy" belated Memorial Day to all vets.

  • Relax dude.

  • Scarvasa is from Italy, Nazi Germany's best ally. Today they are best known for their mafia-infested ports, corrupt government, and 40-year old men who still live at home with mommy.

  • are you jealous? ah no you are Australian....... didn't I think pits internet of Australia there? what do you have of beautiful in Australia? but that...it is not your land. then don't be Australian...but English....the masters of Australia are not the English. The masters of Italy are the Italian. so..yesterdayt you lose fuckin english.....forza Barcellona

  • an Australian, cannot say however intelligent things. one who speaks only English .......a so poor and useless language. when you lived in the caves, in roma there were already the sewers and the houses with the sanitary ones. Barbaric full of fleas and mints.

  • what is there of beautiful in australia? over dangerous animals and desert. crocodile dundee. go to lick an Australian frog. even it unpacks yourself 10 times more of an European.

  • God Bless the Marines USMC

  • Recently saw films where teenagers in Hiroshima didn't know what happened in that city in '45, teenagers in Berlin had no idea what the wall was, and teenagers in Beijing didn't know what Tianeman Square was about.

Is this a good thing, freeing them from their past, or a bad thing, not realizing what happened in their history?

Our schools promote the former; I say the latter.

  • To our veterans, Thank you. People don't say it enough period.

  • I was at Marble Mt MAG-16 1968-69..door gunner Huey's,,etc... the next generation of locals in Nam haven't a clue the reality that took place on their homeland years before and what we sacrificed american lives for,,same thing will happen in the middle east..with each new generation no one cares..I'm not surprised,,

at lot of my bro's didn't make it back to their familes..that is the saddest part..

  • I agree...unfortunately history is written by the victors.

On behalf of freedom loving South Vietnamese people, I would like to express my gratitude to the US forces and its allies for their sacrifice. We just wish those sacrifices weren't done in vain.

  • @WEBTRAIN "..door gunner Huey's,,etc"

Oh just lovely. How many civilians did you blow away then in their quest for independence from French & then from your CIA installed corrupt puppet president in South ?

It's a case of - We want u 2 live the American dream whether you want to or not.

Here's a million tons of carpet bombing & napalm to endear you to our wonderful way of life. We'll throw in My Lai for good measure.

WTF didn't you mind your own business&stay out of other people's countries.

  • you know tl penn

  • I had some hard times in the war but people forget how beautiful the place actually is

  • I was born in Da Nang after the war ended. I was back there in May 2008. Those beaches are now filled with hotels and fine seafood restaurants.

Around 3-4 pm on Sunday afternoon, the beaches are bustling with people.

Those beaches - first the Chinese landed there, then French, then Japs, then US.M.C., then maybe Russain too. Now it's for any ordiany Vietnamese and tourists.

    I love Vietnam.

    peace.

  • die danang boys.wir sind die tofuboys von regensburg

  • I was stationed at Danang in the Air Force and was at China Beach during that landing. It was like a circus with all the media, flower girls, etc. The Air Force was the only service that used the AR-15 (M-16). The marines all had M-14 and they all wanted to see the AR-15.

The marines were good to have at Danang. They would trade for anything. On the downside, the price of everything went up in town.

  • God bless you! Thank you for fighting for this country, sir! My father turned 18 ONE week after the draft ended, but he had a lot of friends who fought in that war.

p.s. Isn't it true that the M16A1 had problems with jamming in the harsh conditions over there? High humidity, and mud?

  • Yes. I was there in 1965 and had an M14. The infantry were issued M16's around mid 1965 and were unreliable so they carried their M14's. In the middle of firefights they had to take out the cleaning rods and ram them down the barrel to push the stuck cartridges out. I just recently learned the problem was resolved by the manufacturer lining the chamber with chrome. It had to do with the metal of the shell and the metal lining of the chamber, a little bit of dirt caused them to get stuck.

  • Wow! That's really interesting! I never knew that.

  • Bigdaph, The same thing happened to me during several firefights.

  • My Grandpa Captained A landing craft during Nam

  • well if we wanted to end the war we should have used a nuke in the capitol in north vietnam it would have saved alot of life's.

  • !!!!!!! yanquis; hijos de puta!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • wow they had literally no protection, just a helmet.

  • ha yeah no protection and just a helmet and the helmets dont even stop bullets.

youd think the US government would invest some money into trying to make a helmet that would stop bullets...maybe its just me

  • yea, then again, the government would have to make thousands of bullet proof helmets.

  • well weve spent hundreds of billions of dollars in the 2 wars in the middle east over the past 7 years, i figure some of that money could have been put towards helmets that stop bullets.

    lol am i wrong?

  • We have hundreds of billions of dollars IN the middle east, we did not spend hundreds of billions of dollars in the middle east. Would it make any sense to take the equipment we already have, pay for it again and then send it to Iraq? No. that figure is nothing but anti war proganada. We already paid the hundreds of billions of dollars, and we would of paid it if there was a war or not, its called preparedness.

  • Vietnam . Never forget the boys. Marines forever. The bravest men. Yes, Semper Fi

  • Semper Fi!

  • I wanna make out with youuuuU! u should totally msg me back! my contact info is in my profile. o

  • semper fi

  • Hi, my father in law was in the Vietnam War, he was in the 3rd recruit training battalion company Q Platoon 324 at Paris Island. His training dates were from Jan to March 1966 His name was Julio Davila, he passed away 2 years ago but he told me that he was in Da Nang. If any body knew him I would like to contact you.

    Honor for the Brave

  • Hi Mariocf70. I believe yes your father was a great hero of Vietnam War. I have a great respect for him and another soldiers. I am a Veteran of Brazilian Army(Artillery) and in my opinion the american soldiers are the most prepared of the world. I salute your father. R.I.P.

  • Patertre, did you know him???

I salute you and all the heroes.

  • I also was there,8 march 65,L3/9

  • This is interesting as it appears to be a British Newsreel from ITN London !!

I don't wanna say this but ....man those Viet chicks are well ugly !

  • I was there that day, L Company, 3rd Battalion, 9th Marines. We were met by sunbathers, nuns, catholic school students who placed leis around our necks & newsmen. Right or wrong we were just doing our jobs. Remember a soldier (or Marine) hates war more than anyone else, but is ready to give his life for his country.

  • Hi 106732. Thank you for you being a great soldier in Vietnam. I am a veteran of Brazilian Army(Artillery). I salute you.

  • Should have just cooked a few hot dogs , drank a few beers on the beach, taken a few pictures, and headed right back out onto the ships without even bothering to unpack.

  • This day was MARCH 8th, 1965. WOW 43 years ago, those teenage Marines are now what 60? 65ish??

  • i got there in Oct 65. i am 63 now.

3rd Batt. 7th Marines Chu Lai RVN 10/65-11/66

  • Woa...did canadian root ever hit the nail on the head...way to go buddy. Too bad the war mongers are just gonna label you a 'left-wing Nazi-pussass-faggot' for it. The shit some people believe?! Liberating? Fighting for freedom? My ass! Seems some people can't accept the fact they were mislead...and through fear and desperation...had there teen angst and ignorance taken advantage of and as such...their youth and innocence stolen...

  • as well did you hit it on the head, DFD. i scratch my head at a -2, but such is the slant of particular threads. i was in danang last year. i couldn't help imagining all the shit that went down all those years ago. place is lovely, very peaceful. torn up over ideology, and invaded, if you ask me. for what? we need to let people handle their own affairs more than we do. only in the event of a major catastrophe should we intervene (to help out when asked).

  • The Beatles were jerking each other off while this was going on. A tribute to the real heroes

  • You are not forgotten...

  • i wos with da 7th wen we landed at Da Nang. could have pwnd da kong & won da battel dat day.

  • i see a lot of m14 there.

  • thats all there was at that time.

  • I always found it odd that predominately...it is the poor, desperate and oppressed that most often enlist...to fight and potentially die for the very system that oppressess them...and fight to maintain the staus quo that certainly doens't favor them...but instead favors Ivy league privileged upper class that do NOT enlist, but instead create the self same policy and thus perpetuate the cycle...hindsight is 20/20...this shit was silliness...we know that now...and many paid with their lives.

  • Exactly, I never understood why ppl fight for communism! Most communism fighters are the ones that are uneducated and are easily munipulated! They thought they were fighting for their ppl when really they are fighting for the evil government. But, I'm glad that a significant # of my ppl were smart enough to migrate to S.Vietnam before the war began, cuz they know democracy lies in the South.

  • Bull to that same old left wing rhetoric. I was not poor, desperate, nor oppressed when I enlisted. I would say few in my Platoon were. You should try supporting some of those freedoms you use every day instead of just complaining. Try giving back instead of just taking. 1st Marine Air Wing, Chu Lai, Class of '68.

  • U.S.M.C. Stands for Uncle Sam's Misguided Children. The average age of Marines in Vietnam was 19. Just look at those babies. The Best of The Best. It is one hell of way to grow up.

  • needs audio dude.

  • How many still alive???

  • None they all died...no Marines left..later on they sent hem to BangCock to the Boston bar

  • gitter done

  • Ooh rah.

  • thats the most retarded thing ive heard, mind you it is coming from an american so no surprises there

  • go to hell ignoorant scum

  • ignoorant, is that a new word?

  • That American is expressing support for a group of people who died to defend freedom. Who continue to die every day to defend YOUR freedom. You couldn't even say stupid shit like this if the Corps wasn't out there giving you that right. Asshole.

  • yes i could, the world hates your country, not mine.

  • freedom is a loosely defined word, it seems.

one man's freedom fighter is another man's insurgent, rebel, whatever term you wish to use.

with an attitude like yours (and i mean no disrespect) america will always be at war, and your good men and women will be dying in this never-ending attempt to "liberate" others from tyranny.

seems like there's enough problems at home.

  • YEAH those dam americans should just stick their heads in the sand and hope they dont get butt fucked like those canandians

  • PlanNine, i didn't understand that one. a bit cryptic.

  • What year was this?

  • 1965

  • The Marines were carring M-14's...I think It was 1965...I was there in 68' and we had M-16's

  • so how did the the m-16 work for you what weapon did you perfer?

  • I ws there in 65/66, grunt oufit, H 2/9. Had M-14 the entire tour of 13 monrhs. I boarded the flight to the BIC PX on my 21st birthday. Left a lot of dam good men there, God Bless them. Still have my problems but got a hellva wife for 40 years who had really helped me. To all Marines, Semper Fi!

  • DSnamvet, Thanks marine. I served with 3/1 there( marble mountain) in 1967. God, country, government. Semper fi! Thanks, again.
