  • 05:00 wtf????? good vid!

  • Seems like they are using alot of kicks as Silat players and when I have seen Silat in the past they didn't kick this much. Looks more like Tae Kwon Do

Where are the locks and grapples??

  • @ioniancat They can use what ever body part they want but they are still using their principles.

  • I use to train penkat silat, but I leave it because I broke my right hand...

    I like it very much!

The trinings where sometimes very hard...

We learn how to fight for the competitions and for the street too!

    maybe I start again!

  • @AskaGaitzazue you better start again soon my friend !!! I broke my both legs and still train until now... as a matter of fact, I train in order to gain my leg's flexibility again after having my legs accident... Silat is natural theraphy for our body, soul and mind .... Salam Bunga Sepasang ...

  • do they have this in the uk ?

  • Haha.. The Song Really makes me Wanna Cry.. haha brings back all the memories i had during my silat trainnings :D

  • Pencak Silat, most effective and fluent martial art I've ever practiced. May it never loose it's essence.

  • my cousin does this, i dont know which competitions but he travels alot to compete.

  • I'd love to use that foot wipe !!

    yes yes

  • If you guys think Pencak Silat is not effective - try having a go at one and i am sure your ass will gently handed back to you all wrapped nicely in silk or satin.

    Hahaha.

I had mine handed over to me by a guru ( teacher ) of the Pencak Silat and boy was it painful.

    RESPECT SILAT

  • Silat is such a wonderful and practical Martial Art but Why is Taekwondo being used as the official Self Defense Skill for Uniform Combat Self Defense ?

I would rather pick Silat , Judo and Muay Thai .

  • Comment removed

  • I agree with you. Maybe because Taekwando doesn't need so much movements and that is why it is been choose? I don't know.. From what I can see.. Silat and Muay Thai is violent than Taekwando.

  • @MDIS why TKD for uniform... because its look nice with high kick and everything.. TKD good.. but if they can combine with silat even better!... ^_^ even in silat.. better learn more style... am Malaysian.. n in Malaysia only we have thousand of silat style.. yes its from the same root.but they are teach with deferent Guru.meant deferent skill or style. for example.. in northen region of Malaysia Penang mostly they have SIKU 12.. 12 elbow.. effective in close combat..

  • luv muay thai!! this is tae kwon do...

  • pls. post the video of the 2009 world championship

  • so it is in indonesia for the world championship?

  • What about 2009 world championship? Where? When?

    Great Job Skardar1

  • Thank you!

Ah i wish i knew - I heard possibly in July in Indonesia but wasnt confirmed.

    You compete aswell?

  • Yes, I competed at 2007 world silat championship, in Kuantan, Malaysia.

I want to be a championship has again soon, hehehe.

    Well. We'll see.

  • which country u from?

  • seems like a pretty cool sport but it's nothing for me

  • nothing for you?

  • no, I;m more on the judo site of the martial arts

  • I was.

    im just a fan

  • you put Suhud Indratno, male Class C on the video.. he's my friend, hahaha... this is the first i saw him played in Europe. Suhud didn't changed, still the same he used to be.. play roughly, hard, fast.. but still smiling innocently... its really great job you can catch those facial expressions...

    ...

you also put some people i've known.. M. Shodiq, Mulyono, Salmawati, Roni Syaifullah..

    by the way, great videos!

  • Thank you for your comments!

Ah yes Suhud Indratno, really good athlete - i saw him play in Belgium open 2007 - very good skills.

    So you compete aswell?

  • thanks for the vid and i think it would be great if you can post the best match from the competitions. do you have a vid from final match from any silat competitions?

  • your welcome hanifa. I have hundreds of finals on video. when i get the time il try and upload. do u train sport silat too?

  • many thanks if you want to share the vid or i if i can, i would like to buy the compilation someday. yes i trained perisai diri pencak silat. the last competition i joined was the indonesian national perisai diri championship in 2003 where i got the silver medal. now iam studying in the UK and did not have time to train, but i love to watch pencak silat

  • ah.perisai diri yes, u train with the white suits right? what class we're u playing in? congrats on the silver. where r u in the uk?

  • ya, i trained with white suit. iam in C class (55-60kg). now iam studying at lancaster university UK but i have never trained again since iam here. so i miss pencak silat. are you training pencak silat too? have you ever joined pencak silat championship?

  • i see i see. yes im in uk team since 2003. i often compete. im in class B. i await europeans in october this year in switzerland. r u indonesian?

  • actually i want to see european pencak silat championship but i will finish my study this september. yes iam indonesian. are you british or..??

  • A: Allow members of different perguruans to compete with each other without killing or injuring one other (buy banning, groin kicks, eye gouging e.t.c)

    B. It provides the Pesilat with a reason to stay athletically fit and prepared for combat with other Pesilat who are training fighters.

However I would like to emphasise, that all Pesilat who compete in this type of competition have a Traditional Perguruan that they are attached too. How do I know? Because I am one.

    Hormat

  • I wouldn't say it something that we want the future of Silat to be, as it is only one aspect of silat. The aspect of different schools competing in a friendly manner. Until the 1970's to compete in Silat often led to serious injury and often death. This created havoc in the Silat world, with a lot of people dying. This is not what I would say is the aim of Silat. All that sports Silat does is

  • Also, the sporting aspect has been a good way to introduce younger generations into the art which like any other sport instills discipline and focus. Thanks for your comments bro.

  • hi,

you are right there is definately a destinction to be made between sport silat and traditional silat. yes the competitive aspect has similarities with other combat sports altho with a long list of differences too.i dont think it will come to the point where sport silat will takeover as you suggest. i compete for the uk team & have spoken to many athletes around the world who also compete but always emphasize the importance of their traditional silat...

  • ouh...musicnya ganti yang energic donk...jangan music yang cengeng

  • music too soft...oh, made me cry....

  • made me shed a tear. ... kidding haha but nicely done!
