  • I have found that to get an awesome sound out of this, or most octave pedals, is that you have to run it thru another fuzz or overdrive. If you blend them properly, it sounds stellar.

  • what's the difference between this and the fuzz face? and did jimi ever use these two at the same time?

  • Is this thing broke?

  • wait no nice sounds 3:26 and beyond

  • Nice sounds 3:28

  • this sounds really bad, you even manage to make the 808 sound bad, please stop making vids

  • we all live in the era now of accountants and bean counters and people who trully know nothing of the products their trying to pedal to us pardon the .......... anyway its never about how good a product trully is its more about how many units can we move wether the prduct is good or not who really cares everything gets discontinued after its no longer flavour of the second and well it all ends up on evilbay anyway if you lived in a era where people cared you would know the difference

  • @hq72hotmale

Have you ever considered that the best way to move product is to make good product? That's the genius of the free market. That's why more cool gear is available than has ever been available. And "evilbay" makes it more convenient than ever to get your hands on cool gear.

But you leftwingers love to bitch and whine, don't you.

  • @1Doz you think this is good product ??? have you ever owned an original arbiter or octavia ?? to know the difference.

Quote''Have you ever considered that the best way to move product is to make good product?''endquote

Hmmm yes i have the only problem is im still waiting for good product.

  • @1Doz ''Quote That's the genius of the free market '' endquote.

Who's free market ohh you mean that corprate geezer who just traded in his low k beemer for a new model while some poor dude in asia built this pedal for him

That's why more cool gear is available than has ever been available. like we need any more.

And "evilbay" makes it more convenient than ever to get your hands on cool gear.

lessonn one buy from the bay never sell on the bay and beware over inflated mailing charges

  • He spilt the gin dunlop all over his guitar...

  • Hendrix will be turning in his grave tonight...

  • @McFro95 thought he would have been fed up of turning by now Hendrix that is .............;-)

  • Mick Thompson uses one of these to "fuck shit up" ;)

  • Turn the pedal volume up you daft cunt!

  • The kid does not know this pedal, or the Hendrix sound.

  • tune your guitar!

  • It'll sound better if you turn the volume all the way up... And it has nothing to do with Jimi Hendrix, or even come close to his sound... I like this pedal.

  • @GoreLap

Agreed, Sounds especially killer with a garagey sounding fuzz in front, like a bosstone or a fuzzrite.

  • @Doodahman1969

True. I use a modified DOD Malmsteen pedal in front, and an EHX Germanium OD right after it. I'm truly happy with that combination. :-)

  • flaccid penis on sandpaper.

  • Fail!:

    they don't know what

    they're even talking about.

  • there are only like two instances during the whole demo that sounded anything close to a hendrix tone

  • interesting indeed

  • Sounds more like a Maestro to me.

  • uhg

  • whether or not it sound horrid or whatever. Question!

would this be a kind of pedal be something you would put inside your noise suppressor or beforehand

btw if your going for a crazy stoner metal QOTSA kinda sound this might help out

  • whether or not it sound horrid or whatever. Question!

would this be a kind of pedal be something you would put inside your noise suppressor or beforehand

  • you cant put "Hendrix" on anything and try to sell it...this one really sound bad

  • You should know how an octave fuzz sounds.. this sounds like 8bit Jap shit.

  • Sounds good with Overdrive pedal

  • yuck

  • thats not wat jimi's tone sounded like..

  • horrible!

  • kakvo je ovo sranje! ne mogu ni da gledam.

  • Horrid sounding spitty fuzz, which is as it should be, but I'm not hearing much octave effect from this guy.

  • put a CS-2 in front of it now you really can tweak your sound instead of that crappy screamer. no extra gain but compression thats the thing.

  • turn the tone back to 8 oclock..thats the trick

  • This pedal is awesome! It is suposed to sound crazy fuzzy, and it does it well!

  • Wow. I've heard some great Fuzz pedals in my time.

This is definitely NOT one of them.

  • I have one in parts somewhere. . . it broke. . I took a look inside and never came up with the interest in putting it back together. The Octavia seems to be the way to go.

  • I have to puke....

  • @Fr3etd4nc3r it depends how you dial and play it. I can make pretty good sounds with it.

  • lol I Think there's a reason why Dunlop doesn't make this anymore...

  • most of you guys have no idea what to do with a fuzz pedal...its SUPPOSED to sound like this!

  • You successfully killed the market for this pedal. If I were the company, I would sue you!

  • LOL

  • Hendrix is the only guitarist who had enough talent to make these actually sound musical. Hendrix wanabes stay away--or risk sending your audience scurrying for the exits!

  • If someone I knew made that I'd say "hey, that's pretty cool!" but if someone I knew bought that I'd say "you seriously paid money for this crap?"

  • sounds like the battery is dying.

  • THE ONLY REASON THIS PEDAL SOUNDS BAD IS BECAUSE HE DOESNT KNOW HOW TO USE IT. I had this pedal a couple years ago and it was awesome. Set the volume to 1 o'clock and tone to 7-9 o'clock and there you go! the classic Jimi octavio sound!!

And it sounds good with another Overdrive BEFORE not AFTER it!! Bad demo is all.

    -5 to you gearwire.

  • @Euphoriaman... and that is only a part of the story. Can't believe that some people here don't even take into consideretion the rest of the set-up... P90? well, maybe why not, but then... wich amp... and what about the position of the microphone and bla bla bla. these vids, most of them, can show only 10% of what you can acheive with that pedal or that guitar... the rest is up to your intuition and experience... and taste. Great pedal and, at least, decent demo!

  • shit demo

  • Well I like the sound of the Fulltone ultimate octave. I also watched a few more demos on youtube. So when I saw an octave fuzz pedal in my local music shop i had to try it. Was very disappointed it was so harsh and shrill. Even with the tone knob on my strat at 1 it was still too harsh. The fulltone i would say is definately worth the extra cash.

  • Tried out this pedal today, awful!

  • Do you mean awful compared to other octave fuzzes such as the Fulltone Octafuzz, the Voodoo Lab Proctavia and the Dunlup Octavio or don't you like the octave fuzz effect in general, cause it is so weird?

  • i heard this was only good for single notes, not chords. what you think?

  • chords would sound more like a car accident...

there are other fuzz pedals without so much gain which makes it possible to play powerchords. but open chords etc. sounds still terrible ;)

  • Makes me want to kill....

  • lol

  • shit fuzz

  • This demo suck, tone and playing very crap.Pouak!!!

I've got this pedal and she's very good in octave or fuzz.

  • that is exactly what i was thinking

  • it sounds best at 0 volume and 0 tone. ;)

  • i think it sounds cool, not exactly good but, cool., terrible demo though.

  • where is the octave efect? sounds like a cheap distortion pedal

  • Octave effects work best when the guitar's tone control is on zero, sounds like he's got the guitar tone on full so you don't get hte octave. And who the hell demos a Hendrix pedal on a Tele with P90s ? And the guitar is terribly out of tune. Typical Queerwire review LOL. Oh well at least he didn't spend the first two minutes opening the box and talking about the packaging and warranty card like that other Queerwire dude.

  • @PutItAway101 Amen.

  • This is sooooooooo Wrong!

  • bullshit crap gadget!

  • CRAPPY RUBBISH !!!!

  • what does this pedal ? duplicate your signal and put it down 1 octave and fuzz it up ?

  • It clips the signal hard against the transistors to produce fuzz, then rectifies it through a transformer to add an overtone one octave above the original note. It doesn't exactly produce a second note, unless you give it a very pure signal and then reduce the amount of fuzz dramatically (usually by lowering your guitar volume). What it does is create a strong harmonic in the distortion that produces a particularly nasty fuzz. It's the same principle as a Superfuzz, just more mellow.

  • What a terribly tedious review. He spends WAAAY too much time waffling and not playing.

  • This might have worked had he cranked the Bassman. It should have enough low end to give this a good sound, but he barely has it turned up. He's not giving the amp a chance to give the pedal a chance. I am a Fender guy myself. I have this pedal, and my Fender Deluxe just doesn't have enough gain, even at high volumes. When I put this in front of my Vox Valvetronix (It accepts pedals well, surprisingly) on UK 70's and give it just enough gain this pedal will take off.

Tune up next time as well!

  • I agree; this sounds too trebly. Maybe it needs anbother guitar or/and amp...

  • lol back to the special home were ur folks droped ya off at?

  • there is only one way to set these up marshall plexi and a strat and turn the pedals all the way up

  • WHERE CAN I BUY ONE!!!!!

  • this may have been the worst demo I have ever seen..... anyone who cranks up the tone knob on a tube screamer is clueless.... jeez.

  • sounds like shit...

  • olny caus he sets ut up bad

  • guitar is outta tune dude!...dude!

  • its the pedal octave pedals do that!

  • the BOSS ones sound better

  • haha im now creating a drink called a gin dunlop.

  • very ugly sound. its simply not nice in anyway really. If you can play, like jimi did, it maybe fine, but its simply not nice and hardly ever used by anyone because of this, a gimmick more than not.

  • how does it sound with humbuckers/ are they going to stop making it because they came out with an octavio? because it half the price.

  • its already out of any online website.

    i.e. musiciansfriend, zzounds, music123

    :[

  • i was going to buy it and i saw it at quit a few online sites but i know that they don't manufacture it anymore

  • haha, if you can recall..which ones?i'd buy it if i'd find it.

  • I'm sure that if this guy knew how to use this pedal he'd get a nice tone. For one, he says himself its supposed to be used on an overdriven amp. Two, he boosts the treble super high. Even when he uses Tube Screamer he puts the tone control all the way up! He's playing on a telecaster, one of the trebliest guitars ever! Three, I could be wrong about this, but fender amps are notorious about having ugly preamp gain, and with the volume low like this he's probably overdriving the preamp.

  • What makes you think he is using a telecaster. Does he ever state his complete setup? Its another way of stating of how gearwire is shit

  • Oh, sorry, he did state his setup. I didnt watch it completely.

  • GEARWIER SUCKS

I have this extra pedal, but this guy should use cranked amp and play on neck pickup, near 10-17 frets. This pedal is the best for solo, not for chords

  • is this guy an idiot?

  • yes

  • 2 monster cables connecting the pedal and still a bad sound

  • Don't judge the pedal by what you hear in this clip. It's a beautiful sounding pedal. (Or maybe the newer ones sound crappy?)

  • ICK.....

  • i really DO love it!!! i'll buy it some day! :)

  • sound sucks

  • Very dufficult to hear a not-annoing sound of this - in this clip. Maybe from the amp? Always the tech21 and not a tube amp, always to much highs and treble...

  • sounds like a bunch of really angry bees...

  • @god3334 that's like most of fuzzes

  • it does sound so much better in front of the tube screamer. i also like the sound when the tone is rolled all the way back

  • I don't think it's the pedal's fault. He didn't set it up right and worst of not playing it right. Of course if you are not the fan of Jimmy sound, there's nothing we can say to mend the situation... ;-)

  • Ugly sound

  • Lol no it doesn't sound ugly Hendrix knew how to use an octave fuzz and did Hendrix sound ugly? Don't think so...

  • just cause it has hendrix's name on it doesnt make it quality.

personally i dont like the sound..
