@Citzen92 That was not Taldeer. During Retribution, it states that she was killed fighting Necrons on Kronus (technically, the canonical victory of the Dark Crusade was the Space Marine victory). It is one of the large parts of the Eldar campaign, as the Ranger of the group is actually Taldeer's brother.
@OverchargedTeslaCoil yeah thats probably true, on chaos rising main chaos warlord was ressurected after being killed on kourava planet strife, and he returned to aurelia...the only lucky thing and unscratched,is Ork Warboss GORGUUUUUUTZ,called ' Bitchslappa ! @OverchargedTeslaCoil Um, if you meant she was killed BY the Necrons, then I must disagree. Kyras said (spoiler) that he oversaw the interregation and execution of Taldeer after victory on Kronus
Warlocks sound like my granny in DOW1 thank god they don't in DOW2. D: Why wasn't this the ending for DOW2 plot development..... I don't give a shizzle about a stupid spessssh marine that can be replaced with a blink of a eye.....
The Eldar (what's left of them anyhow) seem to have the galaxy's best interest at heart; survival. They hold a dominating grudge against the Necrons while everyone else wants for themselves, ignoring the Necrons unless they piss them off.
@theguywhoannoysme I agree and unlike the other races except for the commies I mean Tau, and the Imperial Guard to an extent they are relivatively good. In fact if someone was a bad state like little kid being chased by wolves the Eldar would probably help him.
its funny how they are scared of necrons, orks are far superior to any kron or puny eldar. Orks use necron weapons and bioniks so their superior weaponry is pretty much negated.
@hellmagefire Yup, the Imperial Guard are the official victors. God, that was the best part too - gunning down Necrons by the dozens with nothing but Kasrkin firing hellguns on full auto. It was just beautiful.
@hellmagefire As a matter of fact, the Eldar ending is the right one ( I think). I Base this on the fact that in Dark Crusade, the Imperial Guards are chasing the Farseer from WA ( whose name escapes me ATM) for the killings of the IGs in WA. The only ending in which this happened was in the Eldar one, and thus, I concluded that the Eldar ending is the canonical ending.
@kidlingur94 I don't remember the exact content but the farseer was captured and later found out that the eldar slaughtered several imperial camps on their race to the titan. I'd give you the name of the novel but I don't even remember how it looks like.
according to the book Dawn of War: Tempest, Gabriel Angelos (the main character from the original game) arrives at the planet to find that the Imperial Guard were victorious and had begun to repair the Titan. It is also mentioned that Taldeer survives the massacre, however badly wounded and taken prisoner by the Imperials. It is therefore possible that the Imperials won, Gorgutz killed Crull and that Taldeer escaped and was being hunted down by Lucas Alexander.
Fucking Eldar. Traitorous and dastardly, after being saved TWICE, and then not even remembering anything about the IG who helped them. I wish I could meet her as IG one more time, so I could kill Taldeer myself.
@gufu1992 That are the ways of Eldar. They think of themselves as superiors compared to all others. They don't care for the "lesser" races at all. They would sacrifice billions of human lives just to save a handful of Eldar. Fooken bitches <.<
@ShrougerNite Its because Titans are some of the most briliant machines that the Adeptus Mechanicus have ever produced, they are grand machines of the emperors will, and when they are awakend they may not be alive, but in spirit, the adepts know that they are.
I have a question. I don't know much about the warhammer 40k universe, so here it is. If the imperium really wants to conquer the universe and protect its people, why the crap don't they manufacture more titans? Did they lose the plans or blueprints or something? I mean seriously. I'm not saying a titan could win a war on its own (which it probably could), but it would be alot of help to the cause.
@XxfatmaniacxX I'm no expert in the fluff, but if I'm right either after the Horus Heresy or Dark Age the Imperium of man just couldn't make more complex things like Titans etc.
They say they lost the knowledge of it or something like that.
After the Horus Heresy, an obscene amount of knowledge was lost in the Imperium. So much war technology was lost that it has come to the point that finding old technology is considered a miracle. Look up STC's. A man found a blueprint for a special folding mechanism for knives. Dozens of Space Marine Chapters, nearly all guard regiments, and huge PDF majorities switched to those new knives, and those men who fund the blueprint were each given a whole planet.
I dont know beacuse when I read knew stories about the 40k universe it seems like they use plenty of titans...I mean read the Seige of Varacks (Imperial Armour) book. I mean there was so much titans. Perhaps they cost alot to make, or its hard to transport it around the Imperium.
@tzepesh20 i know it's winter assault i have this game but when you begin the imperial campiagn in dark crusades he said that the techpriest brought this fearsome relic to kronus a millenia ago not from kronus it's like a story the winter assault continue in dark crusade

Dark eldar..well they enslave people..nuff said.Think about this in every vison the eldar have..have been correct...and because of the Inqusition man is blinded by faith and won't establish a reasonable debat with them.
@AeonZelot if mankind truly wants to win this war y dont they play friends with the tau and trick the orks into fighting for them like chaos did in the first dow get the eldar on board cos they helped when the nids attacked the ultramar system then they just go about wiping all the other races out then turn them against one another and being mankind is stronger than any of the surviving individual races can finish them off job done just got 2 worry bout the eldar in case they get a vision
@ColonelVenom88 They can't trick the orks. A because they're not as cunning as the Eldar and B because there are too many orks to trick. As for allying with Tau or Eldar, Humanity has a natural hatred for all Xenos since their bad experiences with aliens during the Dark Age of Technology. Honestly I think the "Good Guys" (Tau. Eldar and Humans) should forge an alliance at least to defeat the bad guys, but he bad guys are so damn powerful!
but they need something evil to win for a change thought dow2 u can go chaos i hear so least theres that. still dont think orks treated fairly they like the adopted kid. they always there but they only get the left overs from the other races.
Think about it......The Imperial Gaurd forces comined with the might of the Ultramarines???no way did the eldar win!!!Space marines are the imperiums fighting elite, the best of the best!!!!The best fighting force in the entire 40K universe!!!
@GunmetalBreon There were only a few space marines, and if the Imperium had the best fighting force then their empire wouldn't be crumbling bit by bit.
@GunmetalBreon The Ultramarines aren't that hot. The reason the Eldar haven't wiped them out is because they are so few. The reason the Necrons haven't wiped them out is because too many are still asleep. The reason the Tyranids haven't wiped them out is because the main Tyranid fleet hasn't arrived. The reason Chaos hasn't wiped them out is because they're on the other side of the galaxy from the Eye of Terror. The reason the Orks haven't wiped them out is because not enough boyz care.
One squad of ultramarines isn't enough to stop a whole company of World Eaters. Or a whole horde of orks, or a sneaky elusive host of eldar. Besides the race isn't always to the swift or the battle to the strong, war isn't always that simple. And the ability to see the future, it comes in handy.
There isn't any proof that this is the Canon ending, I mean the Eldar could have just run away to the web-ways and got chased down by IG because General Sturnn was almost killed because of her actions.
I Still believe that the Order Campaign is Cannon in general.
@tankhunters The proof is that in Dark Crusade the Ig are after taldeer for destroying the titan and Sturnn. Also, the relic creators said that the eldar end was the real one, they argued that fans would dislike it if the Imperium one every single game.
@Arkaeya site link to this info plz, Even if eldar won i don't see why sturnn couldn't live. Also Imperials have won 2. DOW original was a technical chaos win.
Thanks for blowing up this awesome machine and robbing us of having to drive around in an Imperial pimp machine, you Eldar assholes.
I wish we could have a titan in DOW2, but apparently they don't want to make a 50,000 poly model of awesomeness. Relic, I thought we were cool, dude :(
@HolyBomb I here ya! When winter assault came out it was AWESOME! Corpses staid in the ground and didn't disappear, and now that DOW2 came out there really isn't any big fights...
Then It was the Eldar. If Gorgutz won, Taldeer's head would be on his stick. But she lived and came back in DC. Gorgutz killed Crull, and it mentions in DC that they were driven from Lorn V and that the eldar were pursued.
@Lathox Gorgutz won because he killed Crull and Sturnn, he never actually got to the Titan, the Eldar beat him there, and his WAAAAAAAAGH! turned against him. He fought off the betrayers, and escaped with what few loyal Orks he still had. The Eldar were never pursued, they simply dissappeared from Lorn V after the defeat of the Necrons, with no trace of them to be found.
Is this the actual canonical ending of Winter Assault? For if this is true, it is for the best. Against such a galactic threat, all other priorities, including the possession of a Titan, are secondary. Of course, humans here paid the ultimate prize, but what the hell. I mean, be fair, Mankind can't always win. And its target was superfluous compared to the Necron danger.
it is, canonical conclusion for Winter Assault is what follows: Taldeer managed to beat the Necrons back using the imperial (class is still unknown but is speculated to be Emperor) titan, Sturnn and the Cadians somehow survive and Sturnn is thrown into prison because of percieved incompetence from his superiors. The fate of Chaplain Varnus and his brethren is unknown. Gorgutz manages to kill Crull and escapes Lorn V.
@woodwyrm That's a bad conclusion. After seeing such great voiceacting work from Stumn, you'd think they would change the story to his favour to appease the fanboys of IG and their growing fanboys. Or try and give him a lesser sentencing. Hope to see him in Retribution, his voiceacting was topnotch for this game.
@Gjkl345 I, for one, like that they had someone else other than the Space Marines or Imperial Guard win the day, in the DoW 1 series it has been the Imperials who won in every game save for Winter Assault. Variety is good I say! =]
@freewillgeorge i think its a little small to be an imperitor, i mean theats the class with the catherderal spires ontop and is roughli 140m in height!
@freewillgeorge i think its a little small to be an imperitor, i mean thats the class with the catherderal spires ontop and is roughli 140m in height! it has got a hellstorm but the class below can also wield that
second: think, if eldar won, all ig in the area would be obliterated by the blast and no one would be chasing taldeer in DC
And reasoning like an ig it is obvious that they (412 on Lorn V) would try to hunt down taldeer after securing the titan. were it not possible to catch her planetside they would ask segmentum command to send someone after her since they have to protect the titan.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
fuggin bitch taldeer she left sturnn to die in the titan explosion!!! and it is their friggen arrogance that causes more pointless deaths i mean damnit if they're gunna kill thousands of people like that do it in a useful manner!!
like sacrificing them to khorne so he can enjoy his breakfast of blood every morning :D
i think the eldar were created to fight the necrons by some elder-species. that happened shortly after the necrons rose, so they aint that much younger?
anyways, the necrons spent most of their 60 million years in hybernation and couldnt evolve further.
maybe the w40k races just use different KINDS f technology, that at some moment reach a deadend in their evolvement. and shifting from one branch to another is almost impossible, because certain ideas contradict the species basic thoughts.
damn eldar. First they tell the IG that the titan is of no use, then their arrogance costs the IG hell of a lot of lives, and after that they still need IG and the titan and turn it to shit in the process. Why can't they do anything right?
basically, if the eldar really would be a billion-years old species and their technology would be that advanced as it actually should be.... they just wouldnt fit in the w40k universe. they d clone troops or sent robots instead of risking their few butts and they d have shields and weapons that could kill all other races in a second.
the story needs mystical space-evles who behave in the most illogical way. simple truth. kinda like the cannonfodder spaceorcs.
It isnt quite as long as the first one, but still, each mission is rather long, PLUS you can play them twice as different races, and even within each campagin, you switch between lots of different armies during each mission.
I still say that is possible for the guard to have won wa and the eldar still be chased,
"insert that eldar could have easily survived being left behind by the ig, and insert the imperium hate eldar anyway, and eldar did cause trouble for the ig b4 the titan ending of theirs.....so still grounds to chase them*
*insert ppl trying to flame me for my reasoning here* besides isn't there somewhere in the books that mention sturnn still being alive anyway?
That may be true, but my main thing is that a great general like sturn still lives on. His speech was one of the ebst sci-fi game speeches i've ehard, i felt moved by it. I'm only stating we wont truly know until relic or GW says what happened in the end. Only ones they've cleary announced is the Meta map ones (dc and SS)
Impossible. The Imperial Guard with the help of the Ultramarines claimed the mighty Dominatus and repaired it's noble machine spirit. Taldeer was in a near-death state in Dawn of War: Tempest. Pay no attention to the games, the books are the most accurate.
Apparently there are. From what I heard, they are even tougher in this game than they are in Dark Crusade, though they only have Warriors and Monoliths.
(I've played Dark Crusade but not Winter Assault)
The Eldar did win although it sucks if I was strunn I wouldve just shot Taldeer in the face when she came to ally him XD Thats why I play Chaos and Orks
Lathox is right abort all except the think abort the titan cannon. I read in a new book (Mechanicum) that an Imperator titan (The Aquila Ignis) got destroyed on Mars, only the hell storm cannon survived and it got taken to a place far away (Kronus) all this happened in the Horus Heresy. i don't think anything of the titan on Lorn V survived
I just noticed that Taldeer have a red hair...

Think about it......The Imperial Gaurd forces comined with the might of the Ultramarines???no way did the eldar win!!!Space marines are the imperiums fighting elite, the best of the best!!!!The best fighting force in the entire 40K universe!!!
GunmetalBreon 1 year ago
@GunmetalBreon There were only a few space marines, and if the Imperium had the best fighting force then their empire wouldn't be crumbling bit by bit.
Arkaeya 1 year ago
@GunmetalBreon The Ultramarines aren't that hot. The reason the Eldar haven't wiped them out is because they are so few. The reason the Necrons haven't wiped them out is because too many are still asleep. The reason the Tyranids haven't wiped them out is because the main Tyranid fleet hasn't arrived. The reason Chaos hasn't wiped them out is because they're on the other side of the galaxy from the Eye of Terror. The reason the Orks haven't wiped them out is because not enough boyz care.

woodwyrm 1 year ago
@GunmetalBreon
Lathox 1 year ago
There isn't any proof that this is the Canon ending, I mean the Eldar could have just run away to the web-ways and got chased down by IG because General Sturnn was almost killed because of her actions.
I Still believe that the Order Campaign is Cannon in general.
tankhunters 1 year ago
@tankhunters The order campaign is half the cannon ending.
The eldar kill the necrons but gorgutz still claims crulls skull
bluemoon692 1 year ago
@tankhunters The proof is that in Dark Crusade the Ig are after taldeer for destroying the titan and Sturnn. Also, the relic creators said that the eldar end was the real one, they argued that fans would dislike it if the Imperium one every single game.
Arkaeya 1 year ago
@Arkaeya site link to this info plz, Even if eldar won i don't see why sturnn couldn't live. Also Imperials have won 2. DOW original was a technical chaos win.
Stormcommando 1 year ago
@Arkaeya That is fair enough. You can't have the imperium win all the time. That's just plain unrealistic, even for a sci-fi.

Canon ending. Shame, I enjoyed the Imperial Guard one more.

The Eldar won WA, so did the Orks. Crull and Sturnn both died during the events of WA.
megafight1 1 year ago 3
@megafight1
Then It was the Eldar. If Gorgutz won, Taldeer's head would be on his stick. But she lived and came back in DC. Gorgutz killed Crull, and it mentions in DC that they were driven from Lorn V and that the eldar were pursued.
Lathox 1 year ago
@Lathox Gorgutz won because he killed Crull and Sturnn, he never actually got to the Titan, the Eldar beat him there, and his WAAAAAAAAGH! turned against him. He fought off the betrayers, and escaped with what few loyal Orks he still had. The Eldar were never pursued, they simply dissappeared from Lorn V after the defeat of the Necrons, with no trace of them to be found.

kratos3111 10 months ago
Is this the actual canonical ending of Winter Assault? For if this is true, it is for the best. Against such a galactic threat, all other priorities, including the possession of a Titan, are secondary. Of course, humans here paid the ultimate prize, but what the hell. I mean, be fair, Mankind can't always win. And its target was superfluous compared to the Necron danger.
pietroerperugino 2 years ago 4
it is, canonical conclusion for Winter Assault is what follows: Taldeer managed to beat the Necrons back using the imperial (class is still unknown but is speculated to be Emperor) titan, Sturnn and the Cadians somehow survive and Sturnn is thrown into prison because of percieved incompetence from his superiors. The fate of Chaplain Varnus and his brethren is unknown. Gorgutz manages to kill Crull and escapes Lorn V.
woodwyrm 2 years ago 17
@woodwyrm It's an Imperator titan in one of the earliar cutscenes the Commisar guy says it.
Hound419 11 months ago
@woodwyrm I bet that Sturnn was released from prison because they realized that the guy was brilliant compared to Stubbs or Aleksander.
mortman200 11 months ago
@woodwyrm where did you find this info?
Scarbgunner 11 months ago
@woodwyrm That's a bad conclusion. After seeing such great voiceacting work from Stumn, you'd think they would change the story to his favour to appease the fanboys of IG and their growing fanboys. Or try and give him a lesser sentencing. Hope to see him in Retribution, his voiceacting was topnotch for this game.
Gjkl345 11 months ago
@Gjkl345 I, for one, like that they had someone else other than the Space Marines or Imperial Guard win the day, in the DoW 1 series it has been the Imperials who won in every game save for Winter Assault. Variety is good I say! =]
Firebat557 10 months ago
@woodwyrm You're right about all but one thing. Sturnn died in the titan explosion. He wasn't thrown in prison.

@freewillgeorge i think its a little small to be an imperitor, i mean thats the class with the catherderal spires ontop and is roughli 140m in height! it has got a hellstorm but the class below can also wield that
stickthejack 9 months ago
@woodwyrm actually its not
first of all the book states that imperials won
second: think, if eldar won, all ig in the area would be obliterated by the blast and no one would be chasing taldeer in DC
And reasoning like an ig it is obvious that they (412 on Lorn V) would try to hunt down taldeer after securing the titan. were it not possible to catch her planetside they would ask segmentum command to send someone after her since they have to protect the titan.
d1ngopwns 10 months ago
A titan at maximum power wnd efficiency can obliterate the Necrons.

i think the eldar were created to fight the necrons by some elder-species. that happened shortly after the necrons rose, so they aint that much younger?
anyways, the necrons spent most of their 60 million years in hybernation and couldnt evolve further.
maybe the w40k races just use different KINDS f technology, that at some moment reach a deadend in their evolvement. and shifting from one branch to another is almost impossible, because certain ideas contradict the species basic thoughts.
athrumzalla 2 years ago
damn eldar. First they tell the IG that the titan is of no use, then their arrogance costs the IG hell of a lot of lives, and after that they still need IG and the titan and turn it to shit in the process. Why can't they do anything right?
NihilistiPekka 2 years ago 20
basically, if the eldar really would be a billion-years old species and their technology would be that advanced as it actually should be.... they just wouldnt fit in the w40k universe. they d clone troops or sent robots instead of risking their few butts and they d have shields and weapons that could kill all other races in a second.
the story needs mystical space-evles who behave in the most illogical way. simple truth. kinda like the cannonfodder spaceorcs.
athrumzalla 2 years ago
Its what they do, they make their enemies fight their other enemies and savatage the victor so that they can't trouble them in the future.
Its crude and destructive yet effective.

Stormcommando 2 years ago 20
How could the Eldar push back both Orks and Chaos Space Marines?
And if there's any book about Dawn of War, it's C.S. Goto's shit. And C.S. Goto sucks.
CaptainPengu 2 years ago
That may be true, but my main thing is that a great general like sturn still lives on. His speech was one of the ebst sci-fi game speeches i've ehard, i felt moved by it. I'm only stating we wont truly know until relic or GW says what happened in the end. Only ones they've cleary announced is the Meta map ones (dc and SS)
Stormcommando 2 years ago
@Stormcommando
Impossible. The Imperial Guard with the help of the Ultramarines claimed the mighty Dominatus and repaired it's noble machine spirit. Taldeer was in a near-death state in Dawn of War: Tempest. Pay no attention to the games, the books are the most accurate.

UndergroundRebelArmy 2 years ago
I think the canon version of Winter Assault is the Eldar winning - so I assume Sturnn died in the blast as he's there in the Eldar fight.
That and what was left of the IG forces were sent to Kronus to hunt Taldeer, presumably because she blew up the Titan :)
Rennikus 2 years ago 2
Yeah which makes no sense because in dark crusade the titan is there

Lathox is right abort all except the think abort the titan cannon. I read in a new book (Mechanicum) that an Imperator titan (The Aquila Ignis) got destroyed on Mars, only the hell storm cannon survived and it got taken to a place far away (Kronus) all this happened in the Horus Heresy. i don't think anything of the titan on Lorn V survived
