He more than likely tripped over the body of the zombie that got shot, or maybe one of the pipes. Pretty simple, and I doubt it was a mistake. The zombies in this aren't exactly intelligent, they're probably falling over all sorts of things, given the limitations of their bodies.

@albertjester Some survived and quickly were killed by the resulting infection. a zombie consumes tissue to regain the lost tissue from necrosis. the brain is scrambled so it the person has low intelligence, low motor functions and ravensly hungry, along with High tolerance to pain. thus a zombie is born. the infected would even consume animals to feed itself. if the infected subject died the virus only brings back neccesary functions to live.
