Seems silly to me that anyone would disregard buying one of this filters in favor of immitating such an effect in post. Trying to recreate these effects in post always looks too obvious anyway.
Post is there to enhance or do things you couldn't do efficiently in shooting.
the warm filter and the soft effects 3 together would do a great job, of course, they should be used when necessary it seems to me many posters think its a perminate fixture on you camera ya gotta use your brain
You could shoot without a filter and create a soft effect in post, but you can't ever really get the same effect, render times will be very long, and you'll be spending time in post tweaking your effect rather than being creative with your edit. That's why, unless we really want a videoy look, we always shoot with diffusion.
The filters are nice but all the soft fx filters take away from the models eyes by reducing the sharpness, these filters are not very effective either with a standard camcorder lens and work far better with a 20 to 35mm adapter. The center spot filter is by far the most useful and has the greatest effect. Like the other poster said, much of this can be in post production with ease.
She could actually use botox

I don't know if these are camcorder filters or camera filters! If it's camera filters, could I use them on my Nikon D80!

was that an hv20? looked like one.

Thanks for asking. The camera used was a standard definition Canon GL2, the HV20 in HD would have looked even better!

I like the soft effects 3 filter but not for your model. She looks best without any filters being used.

yeah, and you can be more specific on how much blurriness you want.
DasKapital 3 years ago 2
Yeah, And you can even use a mask to apply a blur to specific parts of your footage. I love tracking blurs.
