Yes, because the JPN version of the NES (Famicom) used different chips for the games (even using some type of floppy discs for them). That's why the JPN version of Castlvania III had a little bit of graphic overhauls.
I hate when people do this. The Japanese version of Contra is NOT Gryzor. It's Contra. No matter what.

I didn't say that the word Gryzor was the literal translation to Contra. Besides, this was fan-translated by someone else, not me.
