SOC sure has changed since 2006 when I started "running the roads." We lost some good people in Iraq but got the mission completed. Static security is a different game and does not pay as well because the threat is minimal.

This video was made in 2005. During this time SOC-SMG was doing convoy operations on a UXO disposal mission (if you don't know what UXO is... ask google). The goal was dispose of UXO being used against coalition forces. SOC-SMG was not doing base security at this time. Most of the people on these teams had a Special Operations background. This is very different from the new SOC several of you reference.
