You're correct, it's not an olympic sport and probably never will be because people cannot stop comparing it to ice skating. There is nothing like the sound of those four wheels landing on the wood on a clean jump!

But there are other sports at the Olympics that are usually winter sports. (I can't remember any right now, but I know that there are.) It's not fair. Artistic roller skating, just like figure skating, is amazing, and should be more recognised. Specially because there are countries where it's not possible or it's very hard to have ice rinks, and the people have no changes of going to the Olympics simply because this sport is not part of it. That's why lots of roller skaters switch to figure.

You think so? Try it and then you'll see. The skates are heavy, you don't have a blade to dig on the ice, everyone says it's harder. I think it's harder. I'm a roller skater, I spend half of my time in England, I also skate on ice there, and ice skating is so much easier mostly because I don't have to jump with 4 kg on each foot.

yes i really do think so. i think that's an egsaggeration. not everyone thinks so. Because for one thing I was a roller skater, but i switched to ice not because it was easier, but it was more enjoyable. it's so much easier to balance on roller skates, because you have four wheels and it's pretty much like a shoe. but ice skates are different. I'm not saying that she didn't do a good job, and we all have our opinions.

Yeah, ice is more enjoyable. But I have no ice skating on my country. I wish I did. Anyway, for me it is way easier to do everything when I do it on ice skates. Ice skating for me is easier about everything. Balance, jumps, spins... Specially spins

Some ice skaters that compete at europeans tried to skate with roller skates and they couldn't even stand. XD

By the way, not exaggeration. First time I tried to do a double flip on ice, hey, easy. In roller skates, I have 4 kg in each foot. Harder.

You also have to take into account that roller skates are a lot heavier than ice skates. They are not graceful like ice. This girl is good, but there are better so you can't make that assumption based on just this video (if you are).

if you live in brisbane go 2 surf ski and skate down at springwood or where ever the is another surf ski and skate shope and you can get them from there

As someone who used to do competitive figure skating on ice I heard it's harder to figure skate on roller skates because you have to work harder to get the edge to rotate. I guess the only differences is the edge and some of the moves in roller figure skating have different names than that of ice figure skating.

True, but if your trucks (the part that looks after your movements and edging) on your skating plate are loose enough you can do it with ease. Personally, i think that roller is better (lol im an artistic roller skater =D)

My trunks were always as tight as they would go. People thought I was crazy but it kept my spins from traveling and my edges were almost flawless. Give it a try for a week or two and you'll see how much better you skate.
