Work has been done by the community to help the GPS on the captivate, here is one thread showthread php?t =789383 on XDA forum.

Using a custom ROM also can help, many people report a custom ROM improves GPS performance.

Thanks for this video, amazing when you realise that both of these are from the same company and really, if Samsung used the SAME HARDWARE FROM A YEAR AND A HALF ago we would be getting superior results. It's just sad how much disinformation is coming out of the company, yes the GPS update was in that OTA no it wasn't, it's still to come, it's a 2 part update, all answers I've gotten from Samsung support, someone from their dev team needs to watch this, I know it's posted on their FB group.

@Taero its like the saying goes: If its not broken dont fix it. Im out of my 30 day return period because i waited for this fix so now i have to call samsung and see if i can get a refund. If anyone was able to successfully get a refund out of samsung please let me know.
