If you want truth you will find it in the Word of God, The Bible, not the book of mormon. The book of mormon is the work of Joseph Smith. He simply took the Word of God, Gods love letter to mankind and changed the message to fit his own interpretation and in doing so destroyed the wondeful truth of salvation by grace to one of works, based in part on keeping the ten commandments and "earning"your position in one of (3) heavens. The book of mormon is riddled with distortions and half truths.
The book of mormon. It opposes the Bible on issues such as salvation, the fact that there only one God etc. It speaks of cities that archaeology cannot find. These are huge cities according to the book of mormon. These cities include Nephi, Zarahemlah, Bountiful and others. But archaeology can find no trace. Not anywhere!! Do not trust this book to lead you to salvation. The Bible says in Proverbs 16:25-"There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death."

Organized religion has always been about keeping the great unwashed masses in line to prevent them from turning on the filthy rich and powerful over the oppression caused by the latter.
Our "reward" is almost without exceptionin just about all religions delayed until our deaths, to keep religious elders from having to prove anything here and now. It's like a protection racket run by the exploiters in our society. It is how the 5% super rich keep the other 95% from coming after them.
They left out the part where Joseph Smith met up with Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny. Together with Moroni, the Easter Bunnny and Santa hid Easter Eggs and Christmas presents for LDS children. Some of Santa's presents contained a certificate for the kids to rule their own planet, on death.
Joseph Smith convinced the Easter Bunny to marry seven wives simultaneously.

My favorite part is that he translated the text from Egyptian and that the plates are long gone, that wasn't that far back, where are they? The MAGIC hat might be the best thing about it, love it.
The mission originally covered a huge area, including the states of California, Arizona, New Mexico Colorado and Texas. In 1950, three years before President Bowman's arrival, the LDS mission's territory was reduced to include only Texas and New Mexico.
Though smaller, the mission still extended more than a thousand miles from the pines of northern New Mexico to the palms of the lower Rio Grande Valley.
The discovery took place after a sandstorm uncovered archaeological material. Specialists of the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) began exploration at the site afterwards.
The jewel represents a clear testimony for Mexican and American historians that Mormons camped in Alamo Mocho approximately for 3 days, before their integration with the 1847 war, fact only stated in documents until now.
Archaeologist Antonio Porcayo Michelini declared this at the Baja California Archaeology Analysis Table that took place recently in Tijuana, Baja California. He detailed that a bifacial stone knife was found as well, which could be more than 8,000 years old. Other material found consists of Yumana ceramics, fish bones and other mammals rests.
Archaeological research conducted in December 2009 counted on with participation of students of the National School of Anthropology and History (INAH), Mexico City, and resulted in the finding of the silver bracelet.
Law spoke in public whenever he could. He was popular with religious Pittsburghers, particularly nuns, Moody writes.
Upon first arriving in Pittsburgh, the media questioned Law about being a Mormon.
"I wanted to be successful enough that I'd have opportunities to talk about the church," Law said. "I wanted people to listen whenever I talked about it."
During the 1960 season, the Pirates visited Salt Lake City and Law had lunch at the Beehive House with general authorities. Later that year, he provided future church President Ezra Taft Benson with tickets to Game 7 of the World Series. President Benson returned the favor by providing Law and his family with a ride away from the raucous stadium.
For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son(Jesus),that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16 Without Jesus there is no life.......
Guys, if you're wondering why the BOM contradicts the Bible so much, it's because the mormon church believes that the Bible has been tampered with by evil men.
The BoM is translated into 110 different languages? The method of HOW should be interesting...was it translated by the gift and power of God into all these other languages...or did human translators take the English and put it into all the other languages? If the latter is acceptable, then shouldn't it be acceptable to use human translators to translate the Bible into English from the Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek? Just a thought...
Good video. Now let us hold it to the light of the Bible to test its truthfulness. Uh oh, looks like it fails the test. Toss it out since it is a false gospel.
In the book of Acts, God called the Bereans "noble" because they tested all things using the Bible to see if they were true. I suggest you do the same. The Bible says there is one God, He is spirit and has always existed. Mormonism says you can be a God, the Father is flesh and He was once a man
According to the theological definition of the term, a cult is a group that denies essential biblical doctrine while claiming to be Christian or in harmony with true Christianity. While Mormons claim to be members of the one true Christian church, they deny historic and essential Christian doctrines; therefore, evangelical Christians do, indeed, consider it a cult of Christianity.
TheVic, Samtorrance, Alofano, and others-- I would be more than happy to talk with you about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the Book of Mormon. It may be most helpful to first focus on our similarities instead of differences of belief.
watch "the bible vs. the book of mormon" on youtube... it proves just how ridicules the claims made in it are through anthropology and archeology, it's really interesting.
Thats a brilliant dvd. It shows clearly that the book of mormon is not trustworthy based on it's history, archaeology, literacy, language etc. Everything!
the Book of Mormon made simpler. It is a fictional story, that tried to one up the Bible, it has no archaeological support, it plagiarizes 25 chapters from the Bible, tells of three days of total darkness that supposedly covered the whole earth, that supposedly began at Jesus death, while the Bible records three hours of relative darkness, that ended shortly before He died. The Book of Mormon has brainwashing verses in it, that try to ram the book down your throat, though it is fiction.
Unfortunately I was brainwashed into it, for most of my life, but by the grace of God, He got a strong hold on me, and helped me to break free from it.
"ram the book down your throat". I am sorry to say that they tried that on me for about 12 years. When I asked some sticky questions they just ingore it or tried to brush it away. Sometimes they become defensive. Bottom line ... unlike the BIBLE the BOM has no archaeological support.
That was always one of my biggest problems with Mormonism, as a Mormon. Any time I had a legitimate question, it seemed like there was never a legitimate answer. It was always "we'll learn the answer to that after we die." After leaving Mormonism, I learned that God says in the Bible "My people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge" and also "It is appointed to man once to die, but after this the judment." It's a little to late, to learn that we were wrong, after we die, and Satan knows that.
The book of mormon is a more recent account of scripture, that contains revelation and spiritual insight. We aren't trying to take away the bible. Actually, we all encourage the usage. We just feel that both practices are good because both are necessary to receive the fullness of the truth and the holy ghost. If you have faith in the bible why not check out and see the book of Mormon to interpret weather or not it is true? I can testify that it is, and it can bless your life as it did mine. :)
Im glad to hear that LDS is not trying to take anything away from the bible. But what revelation and insight does the book of Mormon offer that the bible doesn't in order for us to recieve the fullness of the truth?
Well you see, the book of Mormon is a continuation of the truth. We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God. This means that there is more insight to be gained. Therefore, if you have faith in the bible, why not read the book of Mormon also? Moroni -guy in the BoM- made a promise that if you read the whole thing and seek prayer, you will receive a confirmation of the truth. That's my summer goal. :)
"thus saith the Lord God: I will give unto the children of men line upon line, precept upon precept, here a little and there a little; and blessed are those who hearken unto my precepts, and lend an ear unto my counsel, for they shall learn wisdom; for unto him that receiveth I will give more; and from them that shall say, We have enough, from them shall be taken away even that which they have."
this feeling "of the Holy Spirit" is a feeling that can be had when one is in resonance with any non-physical thought form, or morphic field, or sentient entity. Just because you experience this feeling does not mean there is anything necessarily "true" about it. ___ by R. Bushman.
It is quite disconcerting to discover that in educated, materially rich countries there are people who give any creedence to something so obviously false as the Book of Mormon. They are trying to fulfil VALID needs, spiritual/emotional and the need to belong, but in the wrong way. Instead of believing something so far out they should join a gym or take up a hobby of some sort so they can relate to ordinary society.
I don't believe in the book of Mormon, but I believe that LDS beliefs should be respected. Who can guarantee that the Holy Bible isn't just a bunch of fairy tales written centuries ago?
gets mad at him and takes them from him and has him make a WHOLE NEW set of predictions that don't correlate with the original ones. That is just way to much speculation for me to ever believe it.
I just don't understand how you can believe the story of Joseph Smith and his multiple translations. I mean the "migration to the New World" was already a huge stretch for that time period but then the fact that when Joseph Smith finally does come upon the gold tablets and translates them no one else EVER sees them and when he asked to make the same translations twice from his golden tablets in a "dark room"(a top hat) just to prove that he speaks the truth, God conveniently
There is a TON of evidence supporting the Book of Mormon.
Go to FAIRLDSdotORG
and search for Archaeology and you'll be amazed. John L. Sorenson PhD anthropology shows clearly there is evidence concerning the ancient record better known as the book of Mormon Another Testament of Jesus Christ.
Let me see the evidence from NON-LDS scholars and archeologists. You've heard about "agendas" haven't you, well, believers have a VESTED interest in proving the validity of their faith. Mormonism is a crackpot belief system. There are very nice Mormons out there, but they are deluded, willfully so in cases.
Since 2005 the items archaologically verified. They include evidence in the Old World of steel swords and metal plates for the right time and place, and in the New World, a strain of barley, thrones, cement, highways, and military regalia and assorted weapons, Hebrew Words, evidence of reading and writing, and multiple expectations for the geography and history.
Not sure what "Old World" evidedence would bolster LDS claims. We already know that Semitic tribes existed in the "Old World", but Mormon claims that they migrated to the "New World" are specious at best. Of the list you cite for "New World" evidence probably only the "Hebrew words" would be intereting. But what's the context; inscriptions, papyrus. Or do you mean that there are Hebrew words in "Indian" languages. Hey unless the Incan word for 'crazy' is "meshuggah" I'm not convinced.
EPHESIANS And HE gave some Apostles, and Prophets, Teachers, pastors, Evangelists ect ect for the edification and purification of the Saints.
You are relying on the revelations of 2000 years ago. Well with the restoration of the Foundation of Apostles and Prophets, Jesus christ being the Chief cornerstone. A foundation wherein if men build, they cannot fall.
Old post, I know, but where in the LDS church do we find pastors, evangelists, etc...better yet, where in the Bible (or the BoM, for that matter) do we find Patriarchal Blessing, Quorum of the Seventy, stakes, wards, etc.? Plus, the hierarchal order is backwards. First, APOSTLES, THEN prophets. Plus, if Christ is the Cornerstone (and He is), and we've already had apostles and prophets lay the foundation, how many times to you have to rebuild the foundation?
Since 2005 the items archaologically verified. They include evidence in the Old World of steel swords and metal plates for the right time and place, and in the New World, a strain of barley, thrones, cement, highways, and military regalia and assorted weapons, Hebrew Words, evidence of reading and writing, and multiple expectations for the geography and history.
A good overview, and well presented. There is controversy about the origin of native American populations; Lehi's family was a small group, and would not have been the only ancestors of the peoples in the New World. Otherwise a good outine of the contents of the Book of Mormon.
True. In fact the Book of Mormon itself has the account of the Nephites joining another fairly large group of people already in the Americas. There is no account of the Lamanites, so who knows what people(s) they also could have joined.
To argue that Lehi's family were the only people on the continent in 600 BC is highly unlikely.
"I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have perached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed." -Galatians 1:6-9
As we all should be cautious. For myself personally I can say about my belief in "mormonism" and my Savior Jesus Christ like Paul:
"But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ." -Galatians 1:11-12
That is great, as long as it is not in conflict with the Bible. Interpretations can vary, but they must not change or replace the foundation which has been laid already. I know that God is as alive today as ever and that He does indeed reveal Himself to us today, but so does Satan, the angel of light, poser; so we must measure these revelations against some standard. One that we both agree (to some extent) is the Bible.
May Jesus Christ our Lord and God bless you in all truth. :)
There has been allot of archeological evidence for the Bible of the years, but there has been no evidence for the Book of Mormon. Nothing showing the Lamanites or the Nephites? Even the on the Hill Camorah there is no tomb from the golden plates? Wouldnt you think by now we should have something? Anything?

He detailed that a bifacial stone knife was found as well, which could be more than 8,000 years old. Other material found consists of Yumana ceramics, fish bones and other mammals rests.

Mormonism says you can be a God, the Father is flesh and He was once a man
Be like the Bereans; be noble in God eyes

I like the video. I like the way you did it. What did you use to do it ? Or how did you do it ? Too bad there is no evidence to support the BOM.

the Book of Mormon made simpler. The Book of Mormon has brainwashing verses in it, that try to ram the book down your throat, though it is fiction.
carterfamily8903 2 years ago 6
Apparently the brain washing didn't work on you, carterfamily! LOL
Nepthu 2 years ago
Unfortunately I was brainwashed into it, for most of my life, but by the grace of God, He got a strong hold on me, and helped me to break free from it.

Well I'm glad God didn't make you an atheist.
Nepthu 2 years ago
"ram the book down your throat". I am sorry to say that they tried that on me for about 12 years. When I asked some sticky questions they just ingore it or tried to brush it away. Sometimes they become defensive. Bottom line ... unlike the BIBLE the BOM has no archaeological support.
alofano 2 years ago
That was always one of my biggest problems with Mormonism, as a Mormon. Any time I had a legitimate question, it seemed like there was never a legitimate answer. It was always "we'll learn the answer to that after we die." After leaving Mormonism, I learned that God says in the Bible "My people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge" and also "It is appointed to man once to die, but after this the judment." It's a little to late, to learn that we were wrong, after we die, and Satan knows that.

What does the BoM offer as far as our relationship towards God that the Bible lacks?
yoursilentfilm 2 years ago
The book of mormon is a more recent account of scripture, that contains revelation and spiritual insight. We aren't trying to take away the bible. Actually, we all encourage the usage. We just feel that both practices are good because both are necessary to receive the fullness of the truth and the holy ghost. If you have faith in the bible why not check out and see the book of Mormon to interpret weather or not it is true? I can testify that it is, and it can bless your life as it did mine. :)
cassiekarina 2 years ago 2
Im glad to hear that LDS is not trying to take anything away from the bible. But what revelation and insight does the book of Mormon offer that the bible doesn't in order for us to recieve the fullness of the truth?
yoursilentfilm 2 years ago

___ by R. Bushman.

You will get "the fullness of the truth" when you die not before.

It is quite disconcerting to discover that in educated, materially rich countries there are people who give any creedence to something so obviously false as the Book of Mormon. They are trying to fulfil VALID needs, spiritual/emotional and the need to belong, but in the wrong way. Instead of believing something so far out they should join a gym or take up a hobby of some sort so they can relate to ordinary society.

homieshiznit37 2 years ago
I just don't understand how you can believe the story of Joseph Smith and his multiple translations. I mean the "migration to the New World" was already a huge stretch for that time period but then the fact that when Joseph Smith finally does come upon the gold tablets and translates them no one else EVER sees them and when he asked to make the same translations twice from his golden tablets in a "dark room"(a top hat) just to prove that he speaks the truth, God conveniently
homieshiznit37 2 years ago

There is a TON of evidence supporting the Book of Mormon.
Go to FAIRLDSdotORG
and search for Archaeology and you'll be amazed. John L. Sorenson PhD anthropology shows clearly there is evidence concerning the ancient record better known as the book of Mormon Another Testament of Jesus Christ.
TrueChurchLDS 2 years ago
Lessee, so I should go to an LDS website to get PROOF for the Book of Morm??? Yeah, that'll be good scientifically sound evidence!
gregorvonkallahann 2 years ago
actually just go to FAIRLDSdotORG and it shows all the evidence that was mentioned within the book of mormon.
Should you cover your eyes and not look? Wouldn't that be called ignorance?
TrueChurchLDS 2 years ago
Let me see the evidence from NON-LDS scholars and archeologists. You've heard about "agendas" haven't you, well, believers have a VESTED interest in proving the validity of their faith. Mormonism is a crackpot belief system. There are very nice Mormons out there, but they are deluded, willfully so in cases.
gregorvonkallahann 2 years ago

JESUS CHRIST"S ORGANIZATION
EPHESIANS And HE gave some Apostles, and Prophets, Teachers, pastors, Evangelists ect ect for the edification and purification of the Saints.
You are relying on the revelations of 2000 years ago. Well with the restoration of the Foundation of Apostles and Prophets, Jesus christ being the Chief cornerstone. A foundation wherein if men build, they cannot fall.
You words fall on deaf ears, pal
TrueChurchLDS 2 years ago
Old post, I know, but where in the LDS church do we find pastors, evangelists, etc...better yet, where in the Bible (or the BoM, for that matter) do we find Patriarchal Blessing, Quorum of the Seventy, stakes, wards, etc.? Plus, the hierarchal order is backwards. First, APOSTLES, THEN prophets. Plus, if Christ is the Cornerstone (and He is), and we've already had apostles and prophets lay the foundation, how many times to you have to rebuild the foundation?

A good overview, and well presented. There is controversy about the origin of native American populations; Lehi's family was a small group, and would not have been the only ancestors of the peoples in the New World. Otherwise a good outine of the contents of the Book of Mormon.
MaelstromLeague 2 years ago

Dhumm81 2 years ago
As we all should be cautious. For myself personally I can say about my belief in "mormonism" and my Savior Jesus Christ like Paul:
"But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ." -Galatians 1:11-12
talonlex 2 years ago
That is great, as long as it is not in conflict with the Bible. Interpretations can vary, but they must not change or replace the foundation which has been laid already. I know that God is as alive today as ever and that He does indeed reveal Himself to us today, but so does Satan, the angel of light, poser; so we must measure these revelations against some standard. One that we both agree (to some extent) is the Bible.
May Jesus Christ our Lord and God bless you in all truth. :)
Dhumm81 2 years ago
May He bless you as well. Thank you for the thoughtful reply.

There has been allot of archeological evidence for the Bible of the years, but there has been no evidence for the Book of Mormon. Nothing showing the Lamanites or the Nephites? Even the on the Hill Camorah there is no tomb from the golden plates? Wouldnt you think by now we should have something? Anything?
