  • Could you leave the spacers in there, if you was to grout over them and they are so far in the gap you couldnt tell? Just remove the obvious ones, Thanks.

  • This is demonstrating exactly the opposite of what a good tiling job should be like, started in the wrong place so the ends will not match, assumes the walls are straight (which they never are), and use pre-mix cement . this is amateur hour !!!

  • dont start with a full tile againsts a wall. rookie mistake. if the wall runns out you could be left with a sliver at the top...which would look pants and also highlight that your wall isnt true.

  • What a bell-end. Start tiling from one end with a full tile? are you F'ing serious? What happens if you need a sliver of tile at the other end? it's going to look sh1te! He pretends to look like he knows what hes doing with a level. I have never tiled and I knew you start from the centre of the wall! What a cretin! Whats this guys name so I don't get the tw@ to do my bathroom!

  • Good job and thank you for the instruction,,,

  • That was easy..

But in fact it'll be impossible for me... I know

  • MEASURE TWICE, CUT ONCE.

  • Decent video. We may add it to our site!

  • No water proofing and mastic is exactly what REAL professional tile setters advise against. I would not follow the advice of this video.

  • @Aptitude

filling the bath with water allows for the natural movement in the bath if it placed on a wooden floor , whitch will be around 4 - 8 mm movement as wood shrinks and expands , this being the reason i would never tile straight off the top edge of a bath , and most bath edges are not level these days as were the cast iron baths of the day! ! , better remove the bath , baton the wall allowing space for an expansion strip between tile and bath, looks better than sealant last longer too !

  • i hate stuff like this. tiling is a PROFESSION!

  • @jwtully So why are there SO MANY cowboys? Where can I find a professional tiler? I have had many quotes and people wanted to plasterboard the bathroom out - they didn't know how to strip the paper and tile the whole walls floor to cieling. Some wanted to platerboard over existing tiles. It was a complete joke as they wanted £1500+ to do a 12ft by 8ft bathroom. One wall was mostly window, the other a cupboard. I'm going to do it myself. All I have found in Yellow Pages is cowboy tilers!

  • @urbex2007 I think people CAN do a good job when they try. It's when they can't be bothered that they become a cowboy.

  • They started without the bath...which was weird...then weirder the bath magically appears!

  • what a mess!

  • Can i just say to people please do not watch this video and think this is the best way to do things... the amount of jobs i've been asked to fix where people think they can do it themselves..

  • When you place the tile on the wall, do you want to push really hard, or maybe tap them with a rubber mallot.. goin to do a wall, and want to be sure that they dont fall off my wall later on from not being pushed hard enough on ??

  • @sporattik Just seen your comment, I see it was 4 months ago.. Did they hold? and was a firm push enough?

  • thank you

  • U guys should have used a bigger level + you just get some t shape spacers you guys arn't even tarvering the tiles meaning pushing up and down to get proper coveridge also if u don't no how to tile use a straght edge to check the tile face is straght instead of using u finger as newbies won't be able to tell the first time u guys are messy you clean as you tile or dont leave blobs everywhere it'l save you so much time. u wash twice last wash use a cap of metho and hot water msg me as im a tiler

  • @nicko198718 i was thinking all those things watching it too. Lol the way he way useing the trowel right at first there i liked to died laughing

  • nar am just going to watch how to create the perfect cup of coffee and get sum1 else in to do it haha

  • use a small, bristled dish brush to clean adhesive out of the joints prior to grouting. do this after u finish tiling each wall, easier on u, and neater.

  • Your video is wonderful also it has a lot of good sense of humour thank u very much

  • Why didnt you fill the bath with water first? i thought that the bath expands/moves downwards when the bath is full, hence why you should tile whilst the bath is full, otherwise it leaves a gap? im about to start on my bathroom now, wish me luck! *gulp*

  • @woodywoods12345 But wouldn't it just create an equal problem when you empty it by moving up? How did you get on with your bathroom as I'm considering doing mine too?

  • excelent thats what i need. my bathroom looks horrible..... thanks for the help.

  • Nice voice, Dave.

  • Just a thought too... if you are doing loads of tiling, with lots of boxes of tiles of the same colour, mix n match from all the various boxes, don't just use one box at a time, as some boxes can be a shade different than others

  • this video is useful but would suggest that if you have never tiled before you also watch part one - How to tile a bathroom wall- tools and preparation

  • the short pants dude look like harry potter.

  • is the stuff you use for grouting different to the stuff you use to stick the tiles to the walls ?. just want to make sure

  • @kinstar YES!, always consult a recommended tiler.. Or a local specialist tile ware house..if unsure.

The adhesive is of utmost importance, adhesives vary from different tile types and areas. Grout should be only be used after tiling has been left to dry (24hrs) reccomended adhesives are the BAL adhesives and grouts.

  • @kinstar i just learned how to tile a bathroom. the bottom of tile onto the wall needs THIN-SET MORTAR. there's Gray or White at Home Depot. I think it's called VERSABOND for $14 or $16, respectively. once it's dried 24 hours later, apply the GROUT, and there are MANY colors of your choice. This video has white grout.

  • How do you "clean the mortar out" of the tiles before applying grout?? Good video, however, I wish there was just a little more detail in positioning of tile and measurements.

  • @officerjo75 you can't "clean" it other than to keep it clean and applying it once and right the first time. my dad is doing this... it's taking him 3 day and he's only got 2 tiles up 'cause he "saw" someone do it 20 years ago, while i'm on youtube trying to learn before i waste 3 days... sigh......

  • Nice video thanks mate I watched this and it gave me the confidence to do my bathroom.!!

  • BIG tiles rule..!! I always like to use tiles with a lighter base rather than those dark tan colour ones as sometimes, tiles are not very well glazed and after grouting, you can still see the dark tan around the edge..!! Dont cut corners with tiles, Its a pain to correct later. Its not a fast job. Take your time. You'll be sat in the bath for years to come wishing you you had taken more time and not just slapped them up..!!

  • Is it possible to cut marble tile with one of those manual cutters like he's using in the video or are those manual cutters for ceramic tile only?

  • @imjustpassinthru , Ceramic only...if you're cutting natural stone, you need a tile saw. You can get a pretty decent one for $150 or so, or rent for $50-$60 a day.

  • are you kiddin me? you cut all the spacers? just stick them in sideways... easier to get them out too and putting the adhesive on the back of the tile is called back buttering

  • Gotta love that mullet...

  • Can anyone please explain to me how you do your setting out for the floor tiles?

I know how to do it for the walls i get a long thin piece of wood one with the height of the tiles marked and the other side with the with and then mark where the tiles are going to be exactly on the wall until I'm happy. BUT THE FLOOR I HAVEN'T GOT A CLUE???? CAN ANYONE HELP ME PLEASE?

  • @chrismcmahon333 I can help you. Its easy

  • Looks out lol

  • Ghost buster man, LISTEN! take your watch off, tut, tut, tut.

  • looks uneven

  • Looks like a disaster waiting to happen especially if its over drywall!! thats what it looks like to me. Hire a pro!!

  • Thanx guys!!!! I've just started earning £120 a day after wathing this video 5 weeks ago... then starting learning and introducing my self as a professional...

  • i new

  • its the man from ghost busters movie

  • funny how he didnt show ya how to stop the tiles dropping when you tile above the door and the window...just like the uk to have shoddy workmanship

  • lol

  • hello

  • poop

  • What says the corner is level.....always start in the middle

  • my those are short shorts.

  • hey donkey dave i bet you felt a right twat messing about like that with the spirit level, you looked like one of those people on the shopping channel demonstrating how difficult things are,

here is a rule and its a golden rule within any building work you undertake, ALWAYS WORK FROM THE CENTRE LINE then everything is correctly balanced,

  • You only do that if you want to cut EVERY single end. There's nothing wrong with using a wall as square... the rare occasion where it will not be square is worth it over the added hours to cut every single end tile.

  • i´m gob smacked!.

  • "we're using a big tile so you would put more on but really just put on what your comfortable with"......is he having a laugh, how do people learn from that?

  • If I was comfortable I wouldnt be watching a youtube video on how to tile walls

  • Never star witha full tile at a corner , what if the wall runs out higher up - doofus. I also noticed he just laid the tile back onto adhesive - no twisting or puching into the adhesive so lots of airgaps and little back coverage - these will fall off eventually. And the gap between both walls are filled with SILICONE not grout as a movement joint .

Apart from that everything else was fine NOT..

Oh and a batton is to keep the larger tiles from slipping and is a good idea.

  • hi, but how big is the gap in the corner, btw the two walls? is it the same like the gap btw the other tiles?

  • what if the bath is out of level then u do use a baton

  • didnt explain how to work out where to start.....

  • Exactly...Why was the baton on the wall on the first place ?

  • Very poor ... no guidance on what adhesive to use and why, why to use a baton, how to cut around windows.

  • They didn't cover sealing?

  • They didn't show the hard bit and cuts around the window then ?

  • I've been tilin 8 years & my dad 25. Never in this time have either of us used a baton (pointless in my opinion!) Don't understand why people waste time digging the spacers out! (Just grout with them in) Don't go full tile of one wall incase you get small cut on other side. The wall could be out so you are could be left with a gap at the top or nippin couple of mil of the tiles.

  • i do and dont use baton depends if i use a large format tile then i use baton. he got away with full tile to wall as he is using brickbond.

  • Amen

  • wow easy as that i think i pack tiling in now

  • How much do those tile cutters go for and can I get it at my local hardware store?

  • thanks for this video, really helpful!

  • Thanks for your help
