  • WHAT I LIKED ABOUT GOMEK WAS THE FACT THAT THOSE WHO CAUGHT HIM ALIVE DID NOT SAY OH LOOK A REALLY LARGE IMPRESSIVE 'GATOR...LET'S SHOOT HIM AND MOUNT HIM ON THE WALL! LIKE THEY DO WITH SO MANY UNUSAL ANIMALS. THEY KEPT HIM ALIVE TO SHOW HIM TO ALL. IT IS A SHAME HE DIED OF A HEART ATTACK IN THE BOTTOM OF HIS TANK, I THINK THEY ALSO HAD TO SEPARATE HIM FROM OTHERS AS THE 8 TO 12 FOOTERS WERE DISAPPEARING FROM HIS ENCLOSURE.!

  • If some of you people think you know of a larger croc, post some proof. So far all I've seen are unsubstantiated claims. Gomek was on display for all to see. Gustave is just a legend. I can't find any proof of a 20+ foot croc in India, just claims. All you Aussie boasters, it should be easy enough to post some proof since you seem to claim that every other Salty is bigger than Gomek.

  • @TheMotorick

    youtu . be /qfYdCPOxfPQ

Love Gomek, used to go see him as a kid. Remember my father putting me on his shoulders so I could get a better view of him feeding

This croc is 5.48 meters long. When Gomek passed away he was 5.42 ... not a huge difference lol but a bit bigger :)

I'm no Aussie just a humble Floridian reliving some memories and thought you might like to look at that :)

  • @TheMotorick A crocodile named Lolong was captured in the Philippines last September. National Geographic measured him at 20 feet and 3 inches. He weighs over 2,300 pounds. Making him the largest crocodile in captivity. And I wouldn't say that Gustave is "just" a legend. It's not as though he's never been photographed. Just never measured. But he's clearly huge.

  • @704CarolinaBlue704 Lolong is a proven fraud, just look at him next to the small philippine ppl (dwarf size) he cant even appear 15ft... Gomek appear much bigger especially way more massive just look the size of his neck and head, yet he is "only" 18ft compared to lolongs 20+ claim

  • @xismxist National Geographic measured Lolong. He is in fact 20 feet 3 inches. Lolong will be put in to the Guinness Book of World Records later this year as the longest Croc in captivity. Who should I believe? Someone on the internet who says that Lolong APPEARS smaller than 20 feet. Or should I believe the world renowned scientific/educational institute in National Geographic who MEASSURED Lolong at over 20ft. I'll take National Geographic's measurement over your assumption.

  • @704CarolinaBlue704 Ofcourse they did, imagine what a hit they are on then... and then guinness comes into the picture, thats where i know for a fact that lolong is no way near his claimed length - he's nothing else than a tourist attraction, BILLED 20+ ft. Its all about money and publicity. If you had some common sense left in your head then you should have realized that all of this have happend before - with the dog called "giant george" (he was measured to 43 inches at his NECK)

  • @704CarolinaBlue704 Newspapers and sites cant even get the scale graphics right, because they dont have a clue how big 20 ft really is. Its up to you if you wanna believe this crap, but when you use simple math you will realize that he is no way near 20 ft because like i said... ppl just cant imagine how freakin huge that is and neither can you, obviously. Only because newspapers and sites says something it doesnt mean its true

  • @xismxist Nice conspiracy theory you have going there. Do you even have a clue who National Geographic is? Nat Geo is not your ordinary newspaper or site. They sent their own team to the Philippines to confirm the actual size of Lolong after hearing conflicting reports. Nat Geo has a great amount of credibility. You, however, have nothing outside of assumptions.

  • @704CarolinaBlue704 I have atleast an eye and a braincell, which is all it takes to bust a fraud! you however, havent! what part of "Ofcourse they did, imagine what a hit they are on then" did you not understand? ofcourse they want to be a part of the record (wrongly set) so ofcourse they send a team there, but where are the independent verifications?

  • @xismxist

Nat Geo's measurement/credibility > Your eye, braincell and assumptions.

  • @704CarolinaBlue704 you still dont understand that they have their own interests in this? omg you are slow...

  • @xismxist You still don't understand that Nat Geo's 100+ years of credibility outweighs your blind assumptions.

  • @704CarolinaBlue704 there exists no independent verifications

  • @xismxist Maybe because Nat Geo is well respected and trusted? An independent verifier is not going to travel all the way to the Philippines just to measure Lolong when his size has already been verified by Nat Geo. Oh, but I forgot. Lolong doesn't appear to be 20 ft on your computer screen. You've studied his pics/vids from all angles. That must mean Nat Geo is lying... Strong argument.

National Geographic has credibility, you have conspiracy theories.

  • @704CarolinaBlue704 yes it does, thats how it works! a claim which has no independent verifications should never be taken seriously no matter from who it comes, so no, they cannot be respected and trusted

  • @xismxist Whether you like it or not Nat Geo IS respected and trusted. Lolong is over 20 feet. Deal with it.

  • @704CarolinaBlue704 If this fraud is anywhere NEAR 20ft then the philippine ppl next to him is 7-8ft tall... deal with that too! common sense works best

  • RIP, old boy.

  • Dammm Thts Big

  • This a Salt water Crocodile?

  • Damn nature.. You Scary!

  • What a cute little fella

  • He's unable to jump for his food.

Did you see how FAT that guy was?

  • Well this is wonderful...right until oh Gomek decides he is tired of monkey meat and wants pure slab of white meat

  • This guys ancestors used to eat dinosaurs. What a massive and awesome beast. Poor monkey.

  • its so flippin huge it almost looks fake!!

  • im guessing thats either a cat or a dog there feeding that thing.?

  • I remember going to the Alligator Farm for field trips and stuff. I have a picture of me in Kindergarten with him in the background and he looked so massive next to my little 5 year old self. I'm now taking my own son, 18 months, to visit the alligator farm on Sunday and they have Gomek on display in his own area like a monument. It will be so awesome to get a picture with him as well. Now they have Maximo, but he isn't nearly as big as Gomek! Long Live Gomek!

  • like the british say.........nice!

  • as i know now : t-rex has still survived..........WATTA MAJESTIC CREATURE !!!!!

  • wow

  • This is the last Dinasour species that survived the meteor impact on earth 65 million years ago!

  • @NanDeSuKa84 Actually, they're not. Birds are. Crocodilians aren't even dinosaurs.

  • Wow gede banget

  • that is so sad. What is he eating.

  • I heard they preserved him when he died. I remember seeing him a long time ago when I was a kid.

  • Wow. its a monster

  • Got to see him fed live when I was a kid. Really awesome sight

  • this guy should register as a feeder at jurassic park :o

  • I saw his display by Maximo's. Tonight it only took me 7 hours to remember his name.

  • 5.42 meters when he died. i don't know what that is in feet.

  • @ajaxrules1975

    17.8 feet

  • croc: "looks like meat's back on the menu, boys!"

  • Lol. I just did a commercial for Alligator Farm and it's suppposed to air online today but I'm still waiting.

  • Gomek was huge, whats hard to believe is that gustave would have dwarf gomek TOTALY

  • Crazy how that guy gets so close and yet the croc is so well behaved.

  • how big is Gomek?

  • IS? don't you was? He's been dead for a few years now. He was 18 feet i think

  • He was 17 ft. and 8 in. when he passed away in '97. He was also between 80-90 years old.

  • @ravenrockga ooohh.. cool

  • is he eating a CAT?!?!?

  • @racheld333 no,its a large rodent from south america,called a nutria.

  • Myth is bigger? Hell that animal is big enough. I mean look at it, its a fucking dinosaur. If you saw that in real life you'd shit your pants. i would.

  • this croc can easily crush anyone.

  • damn, it was dinosaur

  • Incredible! I just wrote a blog entry about Gomek on my Zoo-tails blog.

  • wtf is he feeding him a dead cat?

  • lol theyre called chickens

  • WOW! That is one tiny human.

  • i remember see Gomek when i went there a few years ago....man he was huge.

  • Gustav is over average for NILE crocodiles. Salt Water Crocodiles get to around 20-22 feet where as Niles get up to around 16-18 feet. Gustav is 20-21 feet. The movie Primeval is not a documentary but a horror film made because of the locals' legend of him devouring 300 houndred people and occasionally leaving corpses unfinished (which is bull shit. Niles don't do that). Anyways, Gustave isn't any bigger than a normal Salt Water Crocodile. Myth is bigger than the actual animal.

  • What I think is weird, is that Gustav has been shot too often to killl it. And it probably practices eating people for fun.

  • the stuffed Gomek looks a lot bigger than this.

  • gustave is about twice the length of gomek and 8 times heavier

  • thats is complete bulshit and you probably didnt use common sense while typing that

  • a croc who is twice as long WILL be about 8 times heavier...

  • your retarded that croc is anywhere from 17 to 20 ft im sorry gustav would not be 34 to 40 ft long im sorry and that croc probably weighs 1500 pounds im sorry gustav wouldnt be 12000 pounds. im sorry kid STFU

  • gustave did dwarf a 2 ton hippo since his bulk was much more massive, even when the hippo was closer to camera.... gustave could very well be 3-4 ton

  • yeah a hippos length would be 8 to 11 ft so thats not hard to out length but the bulk of the hippo is under water. and gustave arches his back to show how big he is to them. and there is no way he weighs 3-4 tons lol all im saying that he is not 2x the size of gomek and 8x heavier than him

  • that females! males will be 12-13 ft or more

  • lol well put, love crocs

  • I remember when we first got Gomek I was pretty young and he scared the shit out of me. I seem to remember him being a lot bigger but I guess everything's bigger when you're a kid.

  • Hey I too grew up near St Augustine. I remember that too! I like how they use the thick glass down below to make him appear bigger! But although he is stuffed now, I still would'nt call him tiny! LOL!

  • I wish I saw him when he was alive.

Seen his stuffed body many times, and it's incredible.

  • Amazing Ceature!

  • thats a big croc...

  • Oops, type. I meant "say" not "ways" :)

  • They ways that dinosaurs are extinct. Maybe not all of them ...

  • a reptile is no dinosaur . birds are the modern dinosaurs! take one look at an ostrich

  • Sure, they have different hips but I think crocs and Komodo Dragons have a real dinosaur "vibe" :)

  • im with you on that one

  • gomek rules!!!!! R.I.P

  • Steve Erwin did a programe about the largest wild salt water crocs, If you can find it anywhere online i would definately recommend watching it, the croc on this vid is big but believe me when i say Erwin came bigger! one of the in particular was more like a dinosaur!!!

  • It's spelt Irwin.

And yes this actually just an average size really compared to some of the salties out there.

I've seen a larger one lying half submerged in a billabong.

  • da only reason y deres not more big crocs like gomek alive is cuz poachers always huntin dem

  • There's alot bigger salties than Gomek pal.

  • thats a big croc

  • hes BEAST!dont forget to eat the trainer

  • Thats not a Croc! Thats a fucking SUV with teeth!

  • R.I.P. Gomek. He probably eating bad people in Hell. haha!

  • what a handsome looking fella...

  • he doesnt have to jump for his food

  • cuz he so bighe dont hav 2

  • no because the water aint deep enough, doesnt amtter how big the croc is it can still jump

  • This guy is bigger than Barney and as hungry as the BarbraBush

  • is huge

  • You see how that guy turned his back to it for a few secs! He better have life insurance lol cause that crazy

  • holy crap!

you couldnt pay me enough ever to get that close to a croc that big!!!

    holy shit look at it!!!

  • lmao!! OMFG you couldnt pay me to NOT get that close ^^ hehe sry... i like crocs...

havent u ever seen the croc hunter?!?!? O.O

those crocs were bigger than the one in this vid....

  • They got a new Gator in St. Augustine

His name is Maximo but I don't remeber his size or weight.I miss Gomek

  • Ther new one is only 15 feet. Gomek was awesome. Made me go back to St. Aug every chance i got.

  • damn!!!

  • I grew up here in St Augustine and Gomec was a part of my life for years. I never got tired of going to the Alligator farm to see him. later in life, just before he died, all he did pretty much was sit on the bottom of his tank and rarely moved. You could go down and see him thru a window. The morning he died they went to feed him and he did'nt come up, so they drained the tank and drugged him. The Dr checked him and he was gone. He is now stuffed and on display. 17'8 long and over 1800lbs!

  • Gomek and Gustav are my animal heroes.

  • i wuz there, i saw him... too bad he was dead

  • i seen him after he was stuffed i am 6'3 350pds and he made look like a little kid standing by him

  • 6'3" 350 lbs...man you would make a nice snack for some alligator.

  • yeah all i could do would gouge his eyes out then he would be a blind but full crocodile

  • lol don't feel bad man I'm 6'0" 245 pounds..by the way I have to ask are you a trucker(Big Puller?) makes me wonder..and yes I'am.

  • no not a trucker i am a correctional officer but i arm wrestle in tournaments so they call me bigpuller

  • Gomek was like a big puppy dog.

  • Yeah, he was. Only kinda different. Kinda with huge teeth and 2500 PSI of crushing power. 17 feet 8 inches long and over 1800 pounds, and slimy and scaley, but other than that, just like a puppy dog.

  • dats a big lizard!

  • we miss you gomek... enjoy your nutria in that big lake up in the sky

  • chuckthedragon what do you mean by rest in peace did it died i dunno cause im from malaysia

  • i saw gomek when i was little, scariest living thing ive seen to date by far

  • .....what did that guy feed it?

  • Spectacular! One of the coolest crocodiles around. Rest in peace Gomek youll be missed:(

  • freakin awsome, but overly intimidating

    crocs rule

  • that is most likely the most hardcore, brutal, and epic creature i've ever laid eyes on

  • DAMN!! I WOULD NOT GET CLOSE TO THAT!

  • omg thats huge.

  • size of that thing

  • Gustave really exist?

  • Has anyone actually measured Gustave? History has shown that people exagerate the size of any fierce animal. Until you measure with witnesses that are unemotional and scientific, you can't confirm any claims on size. Yai is the largest croc confirmed by Guiness book of world records.

  • they say gustave is 20 feet long and 2,000 pounds...thats what i have read any ways

  • Would you honestly want to get that close to Gustave after he's, allegedly, killed and eaten over 300 people? And the largest croc in the world, according to the Guinness Book, is a croc in the Bhitarkanika Wildlife reserve, named Baula Kumbhira, that measured 7.1 meters(25.3 feet)when it was entered into the record book in 2006. Yai was only 6 meters(19 feet) when he died, Baula is still alive and growing. And according to reports, he beats Gustave in size, if only a little.

  • according to wikipedia -"The largest living crocodile known is a 7.1 m (25.3 ft) long saltwater crocodile, in Orissa, India. It lives in Bhitarkanika Wildlife Sanctuary and in June 2006, was entered in the Guinness Book of World Records"

  • 25 feet haha; that's the same difference as a 10 footer compared to a 17 footer. Damn he must be scary.

  • Yeah-i bet he is a beast-only i think its bullshit bc you cant find any pictures of a croc that big and there are many hoaxes. I don't think that there is a croc longer than 18 feet alive after reading the book "crocodile attack" it has some very convincing arguments about how big they get, and the so called world records have absolutley NO PROOF to back up their claims.

  • Yeah I guess you're right. Besides to measure a 25 feet beast properly they'd probably have to kill it first; I mean, 25 feet it would probably weigh close to 2500 pounds or something haha; must be better than a Lamboghini to show off. A 25 feet Nile crocodile in your garden; 25 !! To my knowledge there has been proof of 20-21 feet beasts in the past, dead. Which is absolutely gigantic. You could never imagine how big it actually was if you didn't see it from up close. Anything + 12 feet.

  • Well, There is Gustave in the Burundi region of Africa. Its on you tube- Giant crocodile of Burundi. 25'

  • Yeah-i've sen that video. Nobody has ever meseaured that crocodile. I bet it is less than 17.5ft. If you do a google search on 21ft crocodile found in New orleans, you will see a hoax of an actual 16.5ft croc that was really caught in the republic of congo. That croc looks the same size as "Gustave"-in the youtube vid. I think the gene for crocs to get 19-20ft has been killed of-unfortunately.

  • Like you fuckers know exactly everything about nature's wonders! haha idiots!

  • Gustave has been sighted recently. National Geographic ran an article about his reappearance in February 2008.

  • that is a crocasaurus

  • wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Is this a nile or saltwater croc?

  • It is a saltwater crocodile.

  • Was this a salt water or a nile crocodile?

  • You think this croc is comparable to Gustav the legendary giant croc from Africa?

  • Gustave is dead, and Nile crocs don't grow as large as Saltwater crocs. The Saltwater Croc is the king of all crocs.

  • Since when is Gustave dead? Gomek died a number of years ago, but he was a rather tame beast for his species and size. He was 17'10" long when he died.

  • Gustave isnt dead

  • Gustave is dead, just because they made a stupid movie about him, everyone thinks he's the super croc and legendary, that's hollywood for ya. Gomek was not tame before he was captured. He just became a typical American, fat and lazy. haha

  • gustave still alive and kicking get your facts straight

  • i know its 1 month ago, but gustave aint dead.

he has been seen, even recorded killing fishermen, so yes he is alive, and yes he is a legend, because he has survived impossible. and yes salty are bigger, but gustave is so big the today is there only one croc in the world who is bigger, and that the giant 7 meter salty.

  • NOOOOOOOOOOO NOT Gustav *cries*

  • wow that dude is the height of its head and neck

  • WOW....that would be dangerous...

  • Actually, i believe Gomek was a pretty tame croc.

  • definitely looks like it was

  • That is the biggest Croc or Gator I've ever seen!

  • It's majestetic.

  • It would been my pleasure to meet him...

  • wow. thats the most well-mannard croc ive ever seen. he just gently takes the food from the stick instead of jsut snapping like crazy

  • omg it looks like the lake placid croc, anyone remember those two movies!!!!!!

  • omg

  • big one

  • Awesome! That croc would make short work of a whole cow, I wonder what raw meat tastes like.

  • Holy crap! That was huge!

  • one scary croc....:))

  • so dangerous

  • Gomek is the best....Nice video, cool

  • how did he died??any 1 knows?

  • He died of a massive heart attack according to the necropsy from the vet staff at the Univeristy of Florida.

  • Does anybody else remember snapping sam? what happened to him?

  • Thats exactly what I said. Pre-fed nutria, which is found in South America.

  • I don't really know what "pre-fed" means. They were not fed to anything before the crocodile.

  • That's not a rat. That's not a rat's tail.

  • It is a large rat from South America called a Nutria. The tail on this one has been cut short, but they normally have very long rat-like tails. The nutria have been introduced into the Southern United states and they destroy wetlands. Trappers skin them in the field and we get what is left over. The pelts are a lot like beaver.

  • I love seeing this.I saw him a few times when I was younger, visiting the Alligator Farm.He was fascinating to me

  • Its actually pre-fed nutri, not a rat.

  • RIP Gomeck

  • yeah...rip man

  • What is the croc eating?
