  • holy....shait....

    this guy is amazing

  • GRANDIOOOOOS !!!!

  • This is BRILLIANT stuff !!!!!

  • This kid's a beast! That natural trpt. is much tougher to play than today's horns, esp. in that high register. The Fasch is as tough as it is beautiful. To already have such mastery at such a young age is terrific.

  • @SuperMM1960 There's a reason some of us like to call it the 'Faschist' concerto. ;)

  • This is... PHENOMENAL!!!

  • Really wonderful performance. Concert-mistress is wonderful. The background trumpets do so little, but they are sloppy.

  • Unfortunately this not a TRUE natural trumpet : he uses holes.

  • is he actually pressing keys, or is he doing it on instinct

  • @tubeyoutub Modern-manufactured baroque trumpets have small holes to correct what we perceive now (due to equal temperament) as intonation issues.

  • @JosephMesh I DO believe original baroque trumpets did occasionally use holes to alter the pitch and bring it somewhat closer to a fair intonation.

  • ¡¡¡Grandioso!!!

  • wow... natural trumpet too?! how did you get into playing one of those?

  • Outstanding!

  • veramente eccellentissimo non è facile suonare con una tromba barocca bravo.

  • Great performance ! Sheet music (for piccolo trumpet) can be found at Maurice's website.

  • C'est super fasch-toche

  • This isn't a "natural trumpet" since it has fingerholes.

  • @unc7480 right!

  • @unc7480 Thanks for pointing this out! Now, having done the homework, I know it's called a baroque trumpet!

  • top

  • Very nice. Lively with ornaments.

  • Fasch has recently become a favorite...too bad most of his works have not survived time. Our loss.

Ich hab' alles genoßen, vielen dank!

  • Great music, Giuliano! Congratulations!

  • If the violins replaced by a few guitars or just one classical guitar and recorder, I would be fully happy with this. I prefer small ensembles and just don't like hoards violins.

    Still great to ear.

  • There are only 3 or 4 violins in each section :S hardly hordes! This is about the ideal size band for me I reckon. You could go down to 1 per part, but that's about the minimum. Looking at the score, you could drop the viola but that's about it.

  • No valves. Easier or harder??? Mmm...

  • HARDER!

  • @masterofthehorn harder of course. more air control

  • I remember the summer of 1997 when my grandpa played this old vinyl for the first time, thinking how could a trumpet ever play that high. Over the years I started to jokingly refer to this piece as the "Fascist Concerto" because of its maddeningly high notes.

  • Only fitting that he would master the Baroque Trumpet too.

  • Congratulations

  • Gorgeous.

  • What a sound. Beautiful.

  • Incredible musicianship, and all movements were played with great energy by all.

Thank you, Giuliano - fabulous virtuosic Natural Trumpeting!!!

  • giuliano is the son of my current trumpet teacher's old teacher

  • Nate Mayfield talking to Giuliano Sommerhalder here on youtube...like Haydn talking to Mozart and we get to witness it.

    Wonderful performance, thank you.

  • Great job Giuliano! Hope to see you the next time I am in Switz or you come it to Texas! I saw Jan Roller last month and we spoke about Interlochen- he says hello to you. Take care, Nate

  • Superb! More of this!

  • Senza Parole!! w la tromba naturale

  • oh man, you have to be good to play this on a regular trumpet, much less a natural trumpet! good job 5/5

  • Grandissimo Giuliano!!!!!!!!!!

  • One of the best performances of this beautiful concerto, I ever heard

  • I think we all know that the trumpet player was excellent but man on man, the orchestra backing him up was superb. Very musical and followed all the dynamics....true professionals.

  • Wonderful performance! Well done!

  • Such quality! :O!!!!!

  • Sounds wonderful!

Your ornamentations gives me some ideas!

  • Great job with the Fasch!

  • que bueno giuliano!!! esperamos con impaciencia mas videos!!!

  • this is great!
