Nah, by that time 1944-45 German soldiers had shorter training then Russians did. They were drafted right from the school desks or retirement homes into tranches. Kind of like Russians in 1941-42.

I guess it goes the same way around for the Russians, but thinking about the casualties from the Battle of Berlin, or the Battle of Kursk, the Soviets were taking 3 times more casualties than the Germans.
Soviet losses were disproportionally high during the first year Barbarossa. (up to 5 millions)
After that Soviet-Axis losses were more or less 1:1, Closer to the end of war Soviets in fact fared better then Axis. Often Soviets compensated shorter training by being better mechanized and having more firepower per unit.

Both Germans and Soviets pursued training of their soldiers but through different approaches.
Germans focused on perfecting skills in their immediate specialty. As a result they got excellent specialists (tank-men, pilots) but not enough of them.
Soviets were retraining their soldiers from less technical fields into more advanced fields. Moving infantry into artillery specialists or air-force. They got higher percent of technologists in their army but many of them were mediocre.
Assuming that war was becoming more and more technical I think Soviet approach was more practical at the bottom line. 100 mediocre tank-men still have more value then 100 excellent infantry men.
You are right it is impossible to replace infantry completely.
Though I believe the old Napoleonic idea is still true "Artillery is a god of war".
Basically Soviets outgunned opponents at all decisive moments later in the war. Mass motorization and mass production of cheap but effective artillery pieces was correct.

As an infantry soldier for most of my life, I do not think that the Wehrmacht front line soldiers at Stalingrad would have worn such obvious shining badges of rank. Also as an infantry soldier I have the greatest respect for the men that fought this battle. Germany should be proud of them always!

What i am stating is not true because it never happened, and it never will. Nor is your conclusion true because it never happened either. Nah, by that time 1944-45 German soldiers had shorter training then Russians did. They were drafted right from the school desks or retirement homes into tranches. Kind of like Russians in 1941-42.
Seriously in 1944 Soviets as a military units were way stronger and effective then Germans.

I guess it goes the same way around for the Russians, but thinking about the casualties from the Battle of Berlin, or the Battle of Kursk, the Soviets were taking 3 times more casualties than the Germans.

The Russian's were better in many ways, such as manpower, amount of tanks, artillery and guns in general. This left Germans vulnerable since they weren't able to handle such a large amount. And in the end it came back to the Germans with magnificent force, causing the end of the Drittes Reich.
But one thing they weren't, they were not better trained, the Russian army was consistent of about 50% teenager conscrip

Russians mass produced pilots, snipers and other specialists on average they were not as well trained as German specialists but definitely were better trained then German infantry man.

Total sizes of axis and soviet combat troops on the eastern front were more or less equal. Soviets had millions of support units deep inside their country but those were just militarized state services .
On average Soviets were better armed and motorized while most of Germans traveled on feet, horses bicycles. This motorization allowed Soviets to collect huge masses of soldiers quickly in the direction of attack while Germans were spread thing because of poor transportation.

Also Soviet army then included rail road and military industry workers and police this is why numbers looked large. Those labor units are not army. Soviet combat units in 1943-45 had more tankmen, artillery specialists and snipers per 10000 soldiers then Germans did. In fact Soviets practically eliminated their infantry while most Germans were mostly infantry men

Both Germans and Soviets pursued training of their soldiers but through different approaches.
Germans focused on perfecting skills in their immediate specialty. As a result they got excellent specialists (tank-men, pilots) but not enough of them.
Soviets were retraining their soldiers from less technical fields into more advanced fields. Moving infantry into artillery specialists or air-force. They got higher percent of technologists in their army but many of them were mediocre.

Though I believe the old Napoleonic idea is still true "Artillery is a god of war".
Basically Soviets outgunned opponents at all decisive moments later in the war. Mass motorization and mass production of cheap but effective artillery pieces was correct.

If stalin was half as bad as they say he was there would be no Germany now, that would be epic achievment.

As an infantry soldier for most of my life, I do not think that the Wehrmacht front line soldiers at Stalingrad would have worn such obvious shining badges of rank. Also as an infantry soldier I have the greatest respect for the men that fought this battle. Germany should be proud of them always!

Russians gave the most part to worlds progress than any nation (among them Mendeleev's table of chemical elements which I hope u learned in school) but even one thing that we were first in space and started Era in which we live now-Space Age, already make us GODS among other nations. I cant help respecting the German army in her history.
And this was a great movie.
ATM ,Im reading one of my favorite books for the second time its called FIGHTING FOR THE FATHERLAND, by David Stone. It help ppl understand why the Germans had to fight so many wars in her past and why they where so hard to defeat in two world wars.

Btw. My grandpa served in Stalingrad as a Katysha crewman. His officer ran a prison shipping boat. He told me once that when they brought in a batch of German prisoners he let the soldiers go at them. 3 of them got their necks sliced and the officer executed 5 other with his TT-33. I think he was trying to get revenge for the Nazis killing his family outside of Minsk a year earlier.
