  • I know these guys are pros, but can you imagine if Fred hit a low shank here. Might very well kill someone in the crowd. I can guarantee if I was up there hitting at a pro am they would want to move back quite a bit. I'm a decent golfer, but I have been known to blister one straight right.

  • .we elected a ass hole and ur country followed him like the sheep ur ppl are. Thats why Blair lost his job..cause of confused ppl like u actually think the UK has any kind of independent thought...George Bush dared England not to participate in Iraq and ur quivering anal retentive wasps followed like a needy schoold girl...Please show some more of the british intelligence...ur Americas lap dog whatever we excrete ur country licks our ass cause we dont have to wipe it as long as there is a U.K.

  • @stevefromPA2 what's this got to do with Fred Couple's golf swing?

  • proves again that a strong grip makes it easier to get to a better impact point.

  • Straight as an arrow

  • I can't seem to figure out why his swing is so awesome. Horrible back swing, which is way too steep, but that downswing is magical. Looks better in real time though.

  • U da Man, Freddy!

  • The only difference between these pro golf swings and mine is their club face is square at impact. With me it's like the army's calling left - right - left - right.

  • Silky Smooth Swing

  • i think fred gets the most pussy on the champions tour

  • Bent left arm at the top - and who cares? One of the most beautiful swings in golf. Just proves (again) that impact is what counts, and how you get there can be your own thing.

  • @claytronica23 That's 100% true!

  • the Ad comes up just before he strikes the ball -.-

  • His backswing is really steep and his clubhead speed is really fast at impact w/ the great release.

  • I notice he took the club back a little steeper than usual, prob to fade into the left hand slope fairway

  • love his swing... smooth!

  • one of the few older players still 'in the game' - he must be doing something right.

  • something really interesting about the mechanics of his swing.

  • love the way his weight is on his heel way before impact. I love this guy

  • Flying right elbow just like Jack...

  • it kinda looked like he took it past parallel

  • Whats his average drive distance?

  • @dougiepoolable Boom Boom was one of the longest drivers in his prime...hes still getting it out there around 290...No one had a rythum like him...It was like he was swinging from lawn chair, with lemonade in one hand...

  • @stevefromPA2 worst spelling of a word ever! R H Y T H M...not rythum!!!!! Made me chuckle though. My music teacher made the class chant the letters to rhythm.lol

  • @cockywatchman1976 how do u have life if ever mispelled word, abrrievation typo or whatever u see on line u have to try correct...is that ur life?...Most ppl that, (oh i didnt spell people) that have to correct online grammar tend to be a little anal..and alone...and get some gratification out trying correct someone..Let me give u a life lesson..being right all the time gets u loneliness...Try being quiet for once in your life and maybe that woman will appreciate u more..

  • @stevefromPA2 Lol you need to get a sense of humour-then you might actually lose your virginity. How do you find the time to do all this research into people on youtube? And the time for these replies you can't be too busy can you?Unlike you I don't have time for the survey.lol And I think you want to look in the mirror you sad little twat-and learn to spell as you ignorant cunt-rythum indeed lol, you absolute prat.Girls I date like intelligence you wouldn't have a chance you brain dead thicky!

  • @stevefromPA2 Also rythum, wasn't a typo-it was a comedy thicky spelling!!! For typos, read your nasty reply-it's full of incoherent garbage and typos

  • @cockywatchman1976 Dude,,its very clear that u have a anti social net work and social problem...Maybe because uve been called anal before and lifeless cause u take the time to correct ppl...keep hope alive even for u...there is a woman...but u gotta get way from that little table with ur little desk top and little lamp and that floor size mirror u use when u celebrated in when u think uve told some one a thing or 2...If u cant find a woman the SPCA has plenty of friends...

  • @stevefromPA2 HAHA-Dude, you were the one who reacted to a statement about your comedy spelling(which I said in a lol way). You are the ANAL one mate. You seem to spend a lot of your time on youtube arguing like a cock end. You don't just have a social problem, you have a low intellect problem too!

  • @cockywatchman1976 Oh and I dont know what u mean by taking surveys and getting info on ppl...But I did look one up just for u...37% of on line users that have the need to correct other individuals or act like internet Rambos have either been molested or beaten as a child...In your case Ima guess it was bed time when you were a kid when the big hand touched the little hand

  • @stevefromPA2 Congratulations-you've just confirmed you are the world's biggest cock end. Rythum-hahaha, you ignorant pleb. Go back to school you moron!

  • @cockywatchman1976 Mate?...Oh ok...Your not some crazy loner who needs a correct diagnosis. You are a anal Brit or angry Australian , a country that was the ass end of the U.K...trying to prove ur ineptness on American You Tube...Dont be mad cause ur country cant make a move in the world without first consulting the White House...dude , it would have been better if u were just a crazy american..Im done with u...

  • @stevefromPA2 Ah, you're American-that explains the lack of intelligence, not being able to spell. You lot ellected George Bush, HAHAHAHAH. Fucking prick

  • Damn... I never really noticed how upright his swing was. I was usually just too busy looking at his tempo in awe.

  • love it how he has got a calloway 3 wood

  • didnt know you could slow his swing down anymore!

  • ads.....I love them. It's great clicking on things I don't need and can't afford.

  • @myfriendangel1 wow, and here I thought tiger had issues.

  • Notice the long pause at the top, nothing needs to be rushed to hit it a mile.

  • Great videos INCH.... Thanks a million. Will use them with my pupils on my V1 home. ; )

  • this was the only tournament he ever hit a draw regularly in he just said it happened randomely so he went with the draw

  • this was a swing? wtf

  • while addressing the ball i think he looks pretty upright with very little knee flex it seems to me anyway. still an great golfer that i have liked and always will. GO FRED!!! :0

  • @sc3gamer he is. he says, because he has such a steep swing fairway bunkers are more difficult for him

  • He cups his wrists at the top of his back swing. I noticed Tiger and most other present PGA pro's dont do that but, instead keep the lead hand wrist straight throughout.

  • youtube golfers are the best in the world they can hit all the shots make all the putts and never ever make a bad swing

  • Seems like a lot of wrist action there. You really swings come in all shapes and sizes.

  • @spartan11534 however you loose the ability to keep the club head square when your arms are extended.... looking at fred he keeps his right elbow in on his down swing- squaring the club face. So you will be better of to keep your arms in

  • Most overrated golfer/swing...underachieved with his level of talent

  • @PUArtista beautiful swing and still a great golfer...hard to say that anyone who won the masters has under achieved. also his problems have come from his short game not his swing...

  • @PUArtista yeah youre right. he only won the masters and captained the winning presidents cup team. and he won a shit ton of tournaments on the PGA Tour. He wayyyy underachieved. Retard

  • @BezMagnani I think for Freds talent he did underacheive. I think he should have won more than 15 PGA tournaments in his career and maybe even another major

  • @paulrmcf you are fucking dumb to say what you just said. do you know how fucking hard it is to win a fucking major? no. you dont. you lose. goodbbye

  • Check out our golf skills video

  • Couples' swing will go down as one of the best ever.

  • Damn shit was straight

  • @spartan11534 you're retarded dude, you obviously dont know shit about golf so stfu

  • hes got a swing that they don't really teach. I have a similar position at top but while my swing is inconsistent, his is buttery smooth because he can recover and regain his angle of attack so efficiently. This position also explains while he's still able to bomb his drives

  • The one fudamentally incorrect thing i see here is the right flying elbow. That elbow should be below the left arm but, he's able to recover quickly enough with that vertical one plane swing

  • Just as i supsected he's got a very vertical textbook swing plane. I swing the same way since i was taught that through pro golf lessons and am able to get consistent ball contact. Most PGA pro's fundamental are off, they take the club way to far back behind their right shoulder but are able to recover quickly due to their muscle memory and vast experience. Ironically a lot of Amateurs copy copy these bad back swings by bringing the shaft to far behind them which explains why many quit or do bad

  • the only thing you should try to repeat about freddy's swing is his rhythym and tempo and nothing else. he has a horrible backswing but he can do it cause of his good tempo.

  • @hockeysupasta4

Take it from someone who plays and teaches this game for a living. Striking a golf ball well is about three things.....speed..momentum...leverage.....that's it. Freddy swings the way he does because that's how HIS BODY applies those forces the most effective way. The same goes for Tiger, Ernie, Phil, McIlroy, and all consistently successful golfers....they have simply found a way for their individual bodies to apply force to a golf ball the same way nearly every time.

  • @CarolinasPGApro im not in any way dissing freddys swing it is extremely efficient. im just trying to tell amateurs to not try to copy freddys backswing copy his rhythym. his back swing is not an easily repeatable move unless you have his impeccable rhythym. his rhythym is imo best on tour. ernie comes in a close 2nd.

  • @hockeysupasta4

Agreed man. Not trying to start a youtube fight. You're quite right about the tempo. I actually tell my students not to copy anybody's positions......I try as best I can to build on what they naturally do with a golf club and make it more effective...everyone should have their own swing.

  • @CarolinasPGApro agree with the way you teach. some people have it some dont. the downswing shouldnt be changed. but i do believe the backswing should. if you watch my swing video. my plane is good. but my arms drift up too high. since then ive been working on keeping them lower throughout the backswing. and my ballstriking is twice as accurate, consistent and added about 5 yards to my irons and 15 on the longer clubs.

  • @hockeysupasta4

Just gave it a look. You definitely are what I call an "inside lifter" a la Raymond Floyd. Now, most people I teach that have that "lifting" motion, will then throw it over the top...you get away with it because, just like raymond and Freddy to an extent, you actually drop the club back where it was at the start of your downswing, which allows you to still approach the ball from the inside.

  • @hockeysupasta4

One thing i did notice is that the "lift" isn't as pronounced with the mid iron as it is with the driver. No suprise as you probably feel more weight in the clubhead with the big dog. For shit's and giggles, Cut your driver by an inch. That will help keep the lift under control and you won't lose any distance.

There's a reason the average driver in an amateurs bag is 45.5"....yet the average driver being played on tour is 44"....almost all of them are swinging short sticks

  • @CarolinasPGApro i just completely removed the lift from my swing about a week after that swing was recorded. getting on a flatter plane and coming through straighter instead of having very high hands then dropping it back on plane. with the old swing i have a 1 handicap. with my new swing ive already shot under par twice this week. thanks for the tip though. i do remember seeing somewhere that the 1 inch will only reduce clubspeed by like 2 mph or so(??) ill defenitely consider it thanks.

  • Awesome! Here you can see the perfect extend at first, the change plain inthe middle backswing, the hand bteaker and the amazing contact with ball in his left side!(just for pro) amaaaazing!

(i said it..cos one rule for normal amateurs hits is have your weight when contact ball still in right side(back)...

he attacked with all his body a long time before the contact! just amazing people!!

    Saludos from Spain!

  • GREAT VIDEO IF YOU LIKE THIS WATCH smasHITGOLF VIDEOS NOW!!!

  • doesnt look great but always great tempo and solid ball striking. One of my favorite players of all time. Check out my swing, i've made improvements but this one isn't bad, please comment. Here we come world.

  • its interesting how he comes over the line so slightly then reroutes the club to the inside mainly by the rotation of the hips

  • Totally over that ball.

  • wow i never noticed what he does at the top. It looks like he has the clubface open coming back but then at the top take a look at his right hand. It looks like at the top he stops moviong his left hand and rotates his right hand slighly to square up the clubface again. Watch at about the 10 second point of this video and see what im saying. Weird move but it works. great tempo in his swing

  • i'm not a big fan of his swing - i cant see the fuss

  • Freddy makes that swing work because he is a phenom. Do not emulate that swing it will fail you when you need it most. If I could swing like Fred Couples every time of course I would take his swing. Like I said B4, 40% of that swing is great. It is remarkable that he manages it so well. I get tired of looking at the same type swings all the time that is why I am here. Check out " Strangest swings in golf " on YouTube. All those guys were pros and made a ton of money. It's all good.

  • @AlexCzervic Except for Barkley

  • @AlexCzervic The swing of Fred Couples is 100% great, not 40%. His swing is 100% in harmony with physics. If he had listened to guys who want to weaken his grip or flatten his swing, you would never of heard of him! I am working to emulate Freddy because I understand what he is doing, and David Lee's drills teach me to swing in harmony with physics, not positions. I have knocked a solid 23 strokes off my scores since I began it work on a swing like Freddy's. Don't swallow the positional guys.

  • @JJMcKinnon1

23 strokes with David Lee's drills! You must have been a very poor player prior. Gravity golf is for recreational players but it actually teaches some very important points. The reality of the method is that for many people less is more but for others with more time or athletic ability more is still more. Go with what works best, keep it in the fairway and work on your short game religiously. Anyways, it is score that counts not style, enjoy it.

  • he is rapeing the champions tour because he hits the ball 50 yards past everyone else

  • Kind of an unorthodox swing I always wondered how he hit a cut as I thought he dropped it in side after going outside but upon further inspection he comes close to back on plane. Such a smooth golf swing too. Something I found interesting is how he opens up his left heel, Might be for his ailing back that sometimes gives him grief. One of my favorite players.

  • This man has a classic "gravity" (david lee) golf swing. He heaves his arms straight up and at the top they simply fall while he goes slightly off-vertical (for a

"counter-fall" move), allowing his body to rotate and lead the golf club; at impact he's hitting the ball with his mass, the mass of his body weight, which gives him effortless power. With this kind of "non-compensating" gravity swing, he can go all day and twice on sunday.

  • Golfmaniac... When you play on the PGA tour and beat Freddy then you talk shit. Until then shut the F*** up.

  • @JasonWhite16 true true

  • that has got to be the most ugliest swing on tour!

    im kidding jackasses!

  • idk about that marcus...freddy made a living with his ballstriking, he would have won more majors if he could putt...

  • I know I will get blasted about this. I wonder how many more Majors Fred and Davis Love the 3rd would have won if they had a flater swing plane. Hands are set way high and the right elbow swings out. I know they are both great players so dont think I am saying they suck.

  • @marcusdolby1 excuse me, but watch jack niklaus' right elbow swing out and count the majors. Both he and FC have a gravity-driven golf swing, that they can repeat all day long, effortlessly. There's reason JN is the oldest player to win a major - a gravity swing does not require youthful vigor to employ with great success. FC, at 50, is still one of the longest on tour.

  • @slewofdamascus I just watched Jacks swing from behind in slow motion. Although he has a widish arc...hands set above the head. Its in NO WAY like Freds. Jacks right elbow tucks down and is much closer to the ribs than Freds. Also there is no shoulder tiping like Fred at the top. Jacks swing is alott more compact up top. Jack has more hip and leg action Fred is more of a gravity swing from the top..... I would compare these 2

  • @marcusdolby1 I agree with much of what you said, however, there can be terribly wild variations (of style) within the "gravity" swing, so while two swings may not look alike, the function can nevertheless have similarities. According to David Lee (who is a fascinating character), JN has a gravity swing. A good example of this style deviation within the gravity method is Lee Trevino (for whom David Lee worked as a swing coach). Obviously, LT's swing does not "look" like FC's swing.

  • I have started playing golf again after a 5-year hiatus. Somebody introduced to me the gravity swing while I was on the range and while he was doing the craziest drills. Now I'm the one doing the crazy drills of David Lee. I'm 45, and as a former 7-handicap, I have always had tremendous tension within my swing (like 99% of all golfers). The results, after less than a week (and a little less than a month since I started hitting balls again), are simply amazing. Thank you, David Lee.

  • I wanted to mention one other thing. According to David Lee, JN had a "flying elbow" when he got on tour and was heavilly criticized for it by "professionals". I haven't honestly watched his career swing "arc", if you will, but I believe David Lee when he makes these claims. I recommend his DVD which can be ordered from gravitygolfdotcom (funky web site) by calling a telephone number (you may have to leave a message - lol). Typical Arkansas guy.

  • "60% of that swing is terrible"

This has to be the dumbest thing I've ever heard.... what on earth to you know about golf or the golf swing that makes you even think something like that never mind state it publicly....

... and please change your name- you're tarnishing the legacy of a brilliant movie and comedian by talking such drivel...

  • @AlexCzervic i totally agree he usually aims way left takes it away steep and than comes way from the inside beautiful but yes 60 percent

  • @AlexCzervic

Yea, you're crazy bro...that is one bold statement. 100% of that swing fucking rules..Freddie is a fucking legend with a great swing and even better rhythm. It is totally creative and built basically by him. He is able to drive that right shoulder through the ball SO well..That's why dude is 50 and is tearing ass out there still. Damn close to another green jacket..

  • @AlexCzervic idc if u go to a camilo Villegas video and say that but fred couples has probably the equal best swing on the tour with Adam Scott...so im basically sayin you dont know sweet fuck all

  • one of the best iron ball strikers ever and a great smooth swing

  • poetry in motion

  • Always a thing of beauty to watch Freddie play...I just can't get over how steep his swing plane is in relation to his height - that shaft is almost directly above his head!

  • 00:10 Jasus, he's completely across the line and his right arm is nearly parallel to the ground!?!

  • I think by parallel you meant to say perpendicular to the ground... just sayin

  • watch this vid then go watch colin montgomerie slow mo from turnberry last year.....both takeaways are amazingly similar.....only difference is freddy rolls the left wrist over to square the clubface and monty keeps it shut.....both guys take it back on almost the same plane.....cooooool

  • your arms could be fully extended i mean w.e feels comfterable for you and aslong you stay on plane

  • I think this video was actually sped up that's way too fast for fred..

and for all legally retarded people who somehow found a way to this page I'm only joking

  • LMAO...ain't that the truth. You don't post the disclaimer, you get six guys by morning telling you what a bloody f-ing idiot you are.

  • @quarterback123456789

    HAHAHA!!

  • @quarterback123456789 not to fast, the club speed is fine for him, he is actually a perfect example of a technically sound golfer

trust me btw im a PGA certified club pro in australia :) so yeah :)

  • Not the prettiest swing

  • was that a 3 wood?

  • With the size of 3 woods lately...probably yes..

  • its huge! looks like a shallow faced driver lol

  • Callaway Golf FT-i squareway wood!

  • i love the tempo in his swing. If i was his swing coach i would have to say his head was moving down 4-5 inches and his right arm is not close to fully extended at impact. Which causes him to not hit the ball solid all the time. But damn his swing reminds me of a hammer hitting a nail. He just gets to the top and lets everything falls. Probably why he has had so much success. Have to love his silky smooth swing.

  • Your arms aren't suppose to be fully extended you dumb fuck... Stop talking like you know shit....

  • @ericnice69 hahah...calling people dumb fucks's makes you look like you must know ALOT about golf swings. get a life

  • went 5 years without miss hitting one shot... fact

  • @insticnt2

not hit the ball solid every time !?!?!?!

    excuse me ??

  • sick swing
