Many Mointain Goats songs are really depressing, but they don't make you feel bad, because they make you realise how real and life-like everything is, if you understand what I mean.

If this is true, then that really says something about their artistic ability that they can evoke all these intense emotions in people just on their imaginations. But fiction always borrows from non fiction in some way or another.

An average song sounds good.

A good song will make show you what the writer/singer was feeling when he made it.

But a great song makes you feel what the person that made it was feeling at the time that he did so.
