Ok I see the issue with that. I agree with you I would be happy to spend even a $1.00 more to have audio out.
If I use this to project on a wall in my backyard at night (dark but some ambient light) would this do the trick? I would like to do an @home outside movie night. I would guess that the unit would have to be plugged in which is not a problem.
I don't have one but couldn't you just split the connection from the audio jack that comes from your device? You would have to test to figure out which pins do the audio and which do video. Split the audio and video into two 3.5mm jacks. One jack that has video and is plugged into the P1 and the other has the Left/Right audio that connects to your speakers. Set volume to zero on the P1 to avoid any feedback noise. This setup will allow you to do what you want and not void your warrantee.
@NewarkMuseum The problem is if you play any video off of the SD card from this device, your only choice for sound is the integrated mono speaker. This hack simply provides a way for you to switch the audio out from that speaker to a headphone. If AAXA had spent another .05 cents per unit on an audio out jack i never would have had to do this hack...
could i recommend you attaching a tripod to your camera? it might make it easier if you can set the camera down at certain points so you have two hands to do things.
oh nullkill and will you be also telling where I can get the parts to wired them to the Projector ? Also will the instructions be on a video or a list ?
hi, can you make a video showing how you did it?

Yes... keep the volume low when you switch to headphones :)

@nullkill Oh, if anyone comes up with a way to limit the volume with a resistor or something, please post details.

Pretty cool hack. Is that speaker output you tapped amplified? Is there a chance it will blow out your headphones if you turn it too loud?

For those asking how this is done... its relatively simple:
1) Remove 3 screws from back of device
2) Splice Red wire coming from speaker, run red wire from motherboard to center of 2 way switch
3) wire red from speaker to first pole of switch
4) connect a wire to third position of switch to headphone jack
5) connect a wire from headphone jack to black wire of speaker (Requires you to splice in wire
Thats all there is to it.. hard part is getting it all to fit back in the case
3) Wire red wire
