There is a girl on the left near the stage with her arms folded looking bored and not dancing. I bet she's thinking "Only two more years and the Sex Pistols will blow this stuff out of the water".
It's sort of a shame they drifted from their more folky roots into schlep like this and 'You Won't Find'...etc...with the lame sax and la la la la repeats etc. But their version of Pinball Wizard is fantastic and outshines The Who's!!
It makes me shudder to think that this was broadcast nearly 37 years ago. I was just 12 at the time and Lyn Paul made a big impression on me and most of my friends at the time. This song shows off her voice to such good effect. A unique, husky and mischievous sound. Such great memories of a much simpler life. Thanks for posting.
One of my favourite 70's pop songs but it was never released as a single in Japan! Even though "I'd Like To The World To Sing" became the ORICON #1 hit, The New Seekers were so underrated and forgotten・・・
takes me back, the seekers had the potential and appeal to have been huge. as it was they were probably the best harmony group Ive seen, i was aware of the infighting such a pity because i feel cheated that we were denied much more of this wonderful group, lyne pauls voice was amazing..
There are two possible explanations for the black and white here..
One is that the original clip was recorded from a black and white TV.. or, as this is obviously an old VHS tape rip, the tape system lost its colour signal, which was common when an old tape was used.
Colour TV was first tested in the UK in 1967, and adopted in 1969.
@Gruntelfluk OR (and I think this is somewhat likely, as I've seen this before) this was the official release, in black and white, to make it seem "oldy timey". (I've seen a few clips of songs I KNOW were recorded in colour that companies re-release it in black and white to "make the 1960s seem a REALLY long time ago." One used to hear the equivalent when producers purposely put "pops" and "scratches" on CDs...
People are free to enjoy whatever they like Nic, that's how it works in a free world. I am merely expressing my opinion that Lyn Paul has a fantastic voice, always has...apologies if that offends you.
I can asure it doesn't offend me, it's just sooooo tedious! We know Lyn has a great voice and we all value her time in the group, just can't see the need to have to compare constantly! God it can't just be me who's bored by it!
Did any one Knowing a song from back 1975, where they sing "My little fellow" in the song, I can't find the song at all, it was mayby one from The New Seekers there sing it, a female singer.
i think the seekers sang a song called my little sparrow. This was the third generations of Seekers. We had the Seekers, then the new seekers, then the original seekers reformed with a blond girl replacing Judith Durham - they were the ones who sang that song I think. Hope that helps - Peter
Hi Peter, You help me a lot, the titlle is My Little Sparrow and nor Fellow. Now I just To the version from about 1975. It was a radio hit in Denmark that year. Thanks again , - Bent
Beautiful song from a lovely singer. Lyn Paul and Eve Graham were the only New Seekers ladies I would love to see perform again. Memories of the many concerts I went to see during the 70's. Great CD from last year X
Great song. On Lyn's website it says she's doing some shows starting in May with the sound of the new seekers. It will be great to hear her singing those songs again.
This is by far the best song they have ever done. What I don't get is why nobody I know has ever heard of it before, but they all know the Teach the world song, which isn't anywhere near as good as this
Too bad they don't make music like this anymore. I was out of love when this song first came out and I loved it. Lyn was great. I miss her solo song "Love" and I can never find it!
Paul Layton and Marty Christian continued to perform as The New Seekers. Sadly Marty has withdrawn due to ill health. Paul is currently working on stage with Mick Flinn (remember "The Pushbike Song" by The Mixtures), Donna Jones (Pussyfoot), Francine Rees and Mark Hankins as The New Seekers. Fantastic line up, really worth going to see if you get the chance.
Loved this song - thanks for posting! What a voice, I have a cd somewhere with this song but I never saw them perform it. I didn't know that they were down to four, I just thought Eve was singing back up!
Yes indeed. I did not much care for her as she could be a bit aloof, but she has a marvellous voice. Who can blame the record company for giving up and trying a new way of working which meant Lyn was lead? I don't, but I do blame Eve for mucking it up in such an underhand and sneaky fashion. Boo boo. Then she has the cheek to have a website which she never bothers to go into unless it is to boost her ego....may God forgive her because I won't and neither will a lot of others...
i went to see the new seekers farewell concert at londons rainbow theater. the day after they did a week at the wakefield theater club 10 mins from were i lived they got back together a couple of years later without lyn had a couple of small hits but with lyn gone so had the magic. i did meet all of the group and they were really very nice friendly guys and galls
the final performance the new seekers gave was at a cabaret club in liverpool called the shakespeare. they were due to play the whole week there but did not show for the last two nights, a band called blue mink appeared instead. this is a fact 'cos i was there!.i saw them perform for two shows, and waited at the stage door on the other nights, (till 3am) for them to come out. peter oliver had replaced peter doyle at this time, he and lyn paul were an item then.
I wonder if we ever will get to know the real story of the group splitting up? Where was Eve? Was she out of the country? Why didn;t she appear at the final concert which was to be recorded??
What final concert?? I was a devoted fan but knew nothing about that. Thanks for telling me. We will never be told the whole truth, mainly because it really is their business. Seems to be sour grapes with eve though. Go into My Space, there are three listings of the group, two are Eve singing and the third is the modern tribute. It was an upsetting ending for us girls who adored the men in the group.
I think the final concert was at the Hamersmith or albert hall. They had a deal to bring out a live farewell lp but eve said she was too ill to perform and the rest of the group couldn't do the show without her so it was cancelled. I know it was upsetting for some fans who had travelled from abroad
This was filmed during the spell when Eve had had enough, wanted out, couldn't manage it within her terms {so I believe anyway} and decided to bugger off to America and left them to it. The beginning of the end.....
I was told that they had no clue where she was which is hardly professional.

At age 11 i so wanted to be Lyn Paul, thankyou for bringing this clip to us,its wonderful to be brought back in time,to a time when life seemed a lot simpler!
I thought and still do they compare very favourably to The Seekers original line up....Sentimental is their best song....never realised Peter Doyle left before this recording...Peter RIP..!!!
Amazing! The early 1970s - and yet she's wearing an incredibly contemporary, sexy dress! Look just at her and it could have easily been filmed yesterday.
As for the song - if only I could give TWO sets of five stars!
