I have met people from Norway in England that say the same. Suddenly they have themselves in a REAL swing dancing club and nothing they have been taught is similair to your socalled "swing" dance.
Well - what can I say. It is for sure NOT swing dance. It reminds me more of the soclled "Jive" style amongst the rockabilles, where the man stand still and doesn´t really move very much.
Swing dance is more LIndy Hop, Bal Boa, Shag, Charleseston - dances pre 1950.
This dance goes fine by people who wants to get into the groove fast and easily.
It lacks musicallity and doesn´t looked controlled at all.
All dances are changing but today SWING is for sure not this.
This is one of the common ways of dancing swing/rock'n'roll in Norway :) It's called folkeswing or FastingSwing (since developed by Johan Fasting), and is quite common in Norway. This video, though, is shot in Denmark. However, most of the dancers participating are from Norway :)
I like it the dance is a mix of rockabilly and rock and roll and kick step it is so different to the way we dance in australia

IMO anything you dance to music with a reasonable fast beat, can be refered to these days as a swing dance.

They're participating in a "workshop" camp sort of. It's just a card to prove that they have payed for the camp ;)
it's nothing like a number for a competition or anything like that!
