Well they did Blood tests on Gypsys in europe and they have Indian Blood when they trace it back...the reason why European Gypsys look different is becuase through out the hundreds of years they mix with people.

I'm fascinated by history of different cultures and influences their arts and religions have had world wide over generations. Globalization means many people worry about loss of identity, although what is perceived as such evolved over many generations, a mix of influences from many peoples were adopted to assume a new identity of our own. some western cultures are once again in the melting pot, my own included, it'll be interesting to see what emerges in future.

Even today, Roma Gypsies and Indians, Pakistanis look similar, although European Roma do have more "european" characterics, I've several times mistaked some roma people for pakistani. Among Rajasthani Gypsies, there are still plenty of green or blue-eyed ppl.
The culture is very similar too, their dance, their music, their style ( they like earrings, rings and other gold jewels...). Gypsies are Desi.

These are my people. We live in the Thar Desert between Pakistan's Sindh region and the Indian Rajasthani state's city of Jaisalmer. They are singing a song called the KAMAN song...people call us GYPSY but our ethnic group is called KALBELYA (NOT BANJARA. WE ARE NOT BANJARA...they are a different type of ethnic gypsy than us. BUT it is OK to call us GYPSY because we ARE ETHNIC GYPSY/NOMADS...just like everyone else in the world's ancestors used to be)

I'm fascinated by history of different cultures and influences their arts and religions have had world wide over generations. Globalization means many people worry about loss of identity, although what is perceived as such evolved over many generations, a mix of influences from many peoples were adopted to assume a new identity of our own. some western cultures are once again in the melting pot, my own included, it'll be interesting to see what emerges in future.
