How can I turn a regular video into an image sequence like the video background used here? It won't let me use a regular video. Please and Thank you!!!

@allsvideo Sorry for the delay, you can use a variety of tools for this. If it's an AVI you can use the free VirtualDub to export an image sequence. If it's an MOV you can do the same using Quicktime if you have Pro. Otherwise you'd likely have to open up some form of an video/editing app (Premiere, After Effects, various open-source tools like a version of FFMPEG w/UI or commands only) and export the images back out. Also worth noting; Maya tends to hate any naming other than - Name.####.ext

@lendemen95 Unfortunately, no parts 1-6 of this tutorial are quite Maya specific. Part 1 is using a plugin that is exclusive, but parts 2-6 could possibly be of use, though I've barely used 3DS Max to say how this would translate over. The last 3 parts where you are compositing the layers in After Effects is equally relevant, though.

@leonidhaimov I've heard this once or twice from other people too, but have yet to encounter it myself... You're still within the render range, right? Does it go black for a single frame, or will you be playing, it goes black, and then when you scrub to a time that just played clearly it's now black as well? Any other details could help, like what version of Maya, whether it's Windows/Mac/Linux, etc.

@leonidhaimov The Maya Live controls are not showing up? It's kind of odd and annoying, but the workaround I've always used is to first create a new blank scene. Then, go into Maya Live, and say new MatchMove. Then if the controls do not pop-up, go into the menu from the top of the window, and select Live Controls. They should now appear. With them still showing, open your scene and the Maya Live controls should stay.

@leonidhaimov Generally I'd say it doesn't support video, and it'd be ideal to first process your file into an image sequence. Uncompressed AVI files work fine, but are often even larger than the same data as a sequence in PNG format or otherwise.

@leonidhaimov Is the target (inner box) stretching really tall/wide, and extending out of the search area window? If you're getting fatal errors from that, then expand the search area (dotted line outer box) further from the inner target to give it some wiggle room until this stops happening.

hey dude pm me me back, for one! How did u move the grid around, and when u pressed solve how did u enlarge the top right screen, how did u choose one point at a time, it wouldnt let me, it chose just one then if i chose another it just switched to that one, and when i finished it, the video screen moved around but the the graph plane point thing didnt move at all.. please help!
