Yeah I hate how Metallica used Mustaine's riffs up to Master of Puppets and after cliff died metallica started to suck more and more. I'm sure that cliff could have continued to push Metallica but since they ran out of Dave's stuff and cliff died Metallica was no longer any good.
@austin2460 Actually, it was some songs from Ride the Lightning like Call of Ktulu and some songs on Kill Em All. Master Of Puppets was Metallica's own album they made themselves.
@austin2460 Also Metallica didn't seem to suck, And Justice For All was really good. Black Album is great too, even though it was kind of selling out. Load and Reload was different, but at least it wasn't like St. Anger with Lars' horrible snare.
@TarbleSauce Your username gives indication that you're just another idiot megadeth fanboy who will brown nose Dave no matter what facts are thrown at your face.
@TarbleSauce Dave was more valuable for Metallica in the early 80's, after they used his material at their albums, Cliff was more valuable. I mean, Cliff wrote, Orion and was the master mind behind MoP but Dave gave shape to the band and gave thrash to those guys, if it wasn't for Dave Metallica would have been a combination of Glam and Nu Metal...
@EvenL33tland dude, my first thrash band was metallica, after those guys i start getting into megadeth, slayer, anthrax, overkill, kreator, destruction, evile, and more. I know some about them but luckly im not a fanboy so, I don't know deep into their history since i give a fuck about them after MoP...
WHY THE FUQK DIDN"T GuitarCenterTV list the interview in the TITLE ? !!! part 9 of 9 who was the JERK OFF that came up with the idea to only list it in the description ? most of us would prefer to watch them SEQUENCE. New shoes and clothes are always nice. I am clean now, and partying takes a back seat now. Bills and family are more important than getting loaded.I now only drink. Daves music is so inspiring. Yeah, i said it. Even the old stuff.
Dave is really intelligent. What he said about downloading is right. Being a Megadeth fan, I never downloaded any of their songs, last time I lost my United Abominations CD, I drove 15 miles to get another one from nearest FYE. For other bands, I come to youtube and listen to their songs, If I like it, I get it for 99 cents.
That is good that you support the artists you enjoy. I do the same thing. I only download to preview stuff. If it is bad ass then i buy a video,CD,cassette, or vinyl record. Downloading off even Itunes is crappy. Nothing beats having a physical sound medium.
@jolebrav, but it was only one or two albums, and he said it was mostly because of Marty Friedman. Not saying he's a bad guitarist, it's just that his and Dave's idea of where Megadeth should go differed, and he went with Marty. Now, he's got Chris Broderick, and they put out an amazing thrash metal album.
Dave was born to lead his own band. No way could he just be a lead guitarist in a band. He's a singer/poet/guitarist not a sideman. Lars, James, Dave, and Cliff was a band with all chiefs and no braves. In other words four head strong powerful personalities. Kirk was the perfect fit cause he's a laid back guy who goes along to get along. It has nothing to do with musicianship. Its about chemistry. You can't create if the chemistry is wrong. No matter how many licks you know.
Totally agree with ya. Dave is the man. He can be an asshole, but you have to be in this world. There are so many people that are going to cut him down. I am a take no prisoners no bullshit kind of person too.
@crastonever But if Dave was in Metallica, there would be no Load or Reload. Infact they probably wouldn't of even thought of making an album like those 2.
@crastonever True, Megadeth is a fucking blessing. But i also believe that if he would have stayed in Metallica, they would have made more albums of their earlier kind. It's actually pretty interesting to imagine what music they would have made if they would have stayed together! After all, Dave wrote a lot of the stuff on the earliest Metallica records.
@vendortrash no, I don't because 1: James, Lars, and Cliff contributed more to those songs than he did. They just basically finished the work they had started with him. And rightly so. If my guitar player was a violent drunk and I fired him, I would stop working on songs just because he played a small part in them. He did very little in terms of those songs except The Four Horsemen which he wrote about half of
@crastonever Load and ReLoad wouldn't exist if Dave was still in Metallica. He wouldn't have went in that direction. I also think if Cliff was still alive then Metallica might of stayed thrash metal. James kinda looked up to Cliff. After Cliff died, anything was allowed to happen. Cliff was passionate about the music he was playing, he wouldnt have wanted to change like they did in the 90's.
to be honest, load and reload aren't bad albums, they are great for what they are. and theres some very interesting guitar work on load in particular.
@GHeroandRScape you're confusing "thrash" with "trash". I love "thrash" metal albums like master of puppets, ride the lightning, kill'em all, peace sells, rust in peace, reign in blood, hell awaits, among the living, spreading the disease, bonded by blood, game over, the ultra-violence, time does not heal, world circus, think this, pleasure to kill, agent orange, horrorscope, the legacy....
@SuperRockinMuffin10 They were okay albums musically but the black album, load, reload, st anger and even death magnetic to some extent sucked. Megadeth has proved that they still have in in Endgame.
@RolandsSh Death Magnetic was freaking great! HOWEVER! as far as heavy and thrash goes, I personally think endgame wins that battle. But, whatever, i love both albums. Peace, and metal up your ass :)
@crastonever if he was still in metallica, there wouldnt be a load reload time, but thats what happens to dumb danish kids who let go of an amazing guitarist
@luisguitarc214 There also wouldn't be Master Of Puppets, and I mean the song rather than the record, although there's a safe bet of that, too. James and Kirk wrote the intro riff a while before and James adapted it, and the band turned it into the song.
but no, it probably sounded heavier than it does know, but then again, we probably wouldn't have had a black album as well wich is definitly a shame
well he probably wouldnt function in metallica as well as he does in his own band you know, dave does have a big ego on musician level and that vs either lars or james wouldn't have worked out anyway (hence why he was kicked out of the band)
i was there that day. i met him, chatted with em and he took his time signing my albums and stuff while he was crackin sum funny ass jokes with me n my friends haha hes such a cool normal dude. btw he gave sum picks with lint on em and a receipt from auto zone haha. megadave rocks forever!!!!
