Extraordinary singer, with that something extra. I've loved watching and listening to Dionne since she started out in the '60's. She's still got it here, her graceful styling and all that emotion in her voice. Even though Whitney had her own one of a kind voice from the Gods, we have to give credit to her Mom, Cici, Dionne, her cousin and Aretha Franklin, her God Mother for planting the seeds. There is a video of Dionne sing Winter Wonderland from last year. She's thin , but still great voice!
It's interesting to listen to Dionne sing not to the original arrangement but to Richard Carpenter's, which Bacharach praised while Hal David didn't like owing to its uptempo. Richard likes Bacharach's sad arrangement but changed it to their style. (^^)
Dionne always so amazing... Your sweet voice touch the botton of our hearts ...I missing you so much, Karen... I always remember the moments we sing together in Radio Cidade, Rio, Brazil in the earlies 1981
Was at this TV recording when she and Ronan Keating both sang Carpenters' hits ... but of course Dionne originally recorded this in '64 (and in fact it was a B-side of hers back then). Her voice is much deeper than back in the day - of course - but still lots of nice touches and the fantastic phrasing she's always had. Legendary music from a legendary American icon straight to the ears of this welcoming Brit.
@KSitz77 hmm not quite "I'll never love this way again" was recorded in D Major, she now sings it in C Major... If you're a musician, you'll know thats only one whole step lower. I know it sounds like a major difference, but its not... Smoking does deepen the voice, I know that from my Grandmother, and also hearing Frank Sinatras later recordings.
Dionne has given some real touch to this lovely signature song - I have seen her 5 times in concert and she opened the show with this 4 out of 5 shows - Dionne is a legend !!
She still has that recognizable sound. Still classy, beautiful and elegant. Young singers can learn a lot here.

Ladies and Gentlemen, presenting a living treasure of the human race. Savour this moment. Sadly not a common find in life.

She looks great! Magic skin cream? She even sounds better than in the past apart from the vibrato which is starting to wobble! Brava, Dionne!

I can't believe so many beautiful voices are ruined by smoking......shees. She's still good though, just about 2 octaves lower.

What class...what charm...her 1972 version of this song is truly breathtakingly
"romantic". Please listen to it if you haven't. I love the Carpenters version...but her
version is for adults....what a legend. (Despite of hateful comments listed below)
