saw these guys in 1968 Ban Johnson Fieldhouse Marietta Ohio I was 15 years old....they took a friggin break in the middle of the show and went to the locker room to get a buzz....I followed them went in and joined them in a few tokes WHAT A BUZZ when we came back out the played this tune which was huge at the time and it blew my head off...we had third row seats!
WHAT A SONG the 1st time i heard this song i was 15 and was working on a model and this song came on the radio i thought they were a black group but win i went 2 buy the 45 the cover of the 45 they were white what a group i allso like giv me some lovin i loved being a teenager in the 60s-70s the songs were awsome
I remember back in 1967 going home in a school bus&an older student had a "transistor radio"& it was raining with a thunderstorm&this song was playing, I was only 11 at the time.
i love anything Steve Winwood does...he has one of the best voices ive ever heard from a man and on top of that, he sounds like...a MAN! and his voice is backed by raw passion! yeesh, i wouldve so been his groupie!
This song is like a classic wine - it just get's better with age & maturity. Stevie Winwood (lead vocals & keyboards) is probably the greatest white blues singers Britain has ever produced. Better than Eric Clapton or Robert Palmer. Stevie's voice still holds up now even at 60+. Pure joy.
Barely remember this song upon its original release in early 1967, and was originally more familiar with Chicago's remake which came out three years later. At first i thought the Chicago version was the best, however with the passing of time this song has aged much better with an added plus of it being under 3 minutes. Kinda amazing Steve was only 18 when he sang this song

First band I ever saw live, back in '67 or '68. Of course I don't remember the exact date, it was the Sixties.

Heard this on Jeremy Clarkson's Motorworld (late 90's) when he was talking about trucks!
