  • Hello slippereal. Thanks! I'll do my best... 8-)

  • Hello cozmiksgirl. I like to have an Artichoke Festival on top of my Pizza! Mmm, mmm, good.

  • Awesome Artful Artichokes!

    5 star favorite.

  • Hello Deb. How ya' been? Missed seeing you around. Sorry, this video has me all ''Choked'' up. Hmmm, maybe an Asparagus video next?

  • noooooo! don't throw me into the artichoke patch!! quite a menacing veggie...

  • Hello Boyd. We're only sending you in to bring back a couple 'Chokes for dinner. 8-)

  • Beautiful symphonic piece of music, Diesel! Power to the thistles! :)

  • Thanks, suuzzee! Let the ''Force (of Thistles) be with you!''

    LOL & 8-)

  • I love the 'chokes.

  • Hello Pino, good decision! I'm surprised how many people say they like them as well. 8-)

  • hello bodine!did you composed that beautiful piece of music?if it's true congratulations!master!you knew that artichokes is a real dish of poor people?you have more in your plate when you have finished than at the begining!*******

  • Hello ivmar1, you may be right about the Artichoke. I like eating the hearts though, so all that mess is already out of the way by the time I eat them. 8-)

  • well ..good I like artichauds with "vinaigrette et huile d'olives de provence"...and your good music of course mr Scott

  • Hello Pascal, Artichauds! I'm glad you liked my little musical diversion! 8-)

  • You mean to tell me that all this time I've been eating weeds?? I think my arti is going to choke. That was powerful music to make those heads appear and disappear on cue. I'll bet you did magic tricks when you were a kid. Nice composition and timing - you just seem to get better.

  • Hello Laurence, Yes sir, you've been eating weeds! Hey, some people eat Dandelions, too.

  • Mmmmm, artichokes!

  • Hi patman, ya' gotta love 'em. 8-)

  • I am a big fan of chicken and artichoke sandwiches

  • Hello Matt, I haven't thought of eating Artichokes in a sandwich. Hmmm, maybe a Hummus & Pita concoction might hit the spot with some Radish Sprouts and Cheese.

  • well healthy choice makes him like a pinenni or however you spell it

  • KUDOS!

    michael

  • Thanks, Mr. Michael. I like doing the Symphonic instrument stuff like I like doing the Jazz stuff. There's a time and a place for most anything.

  • Spinach and Artichoke Dip! Nice Video! All the best to you.

  • Hello ib2fast... thanks for checking out my new video. That Spinach and Artichoke Dip is some mighty fine stuff. 8-)

  • mmm artichokes are good, yes especially on pizza and with goat's cheese.

That's crazy that artichokes are the unripened head of a thistle flower. Never even knew that.

  • Hello ubergossen. I'm happy to find others who like Artichokes. It was only in the past few years that I learned that Artichokes were a Thistle. I was surprised, too. It's only been in the last few years, as well, that I started eating them more often. It's great to find a Pizza shop that puts them on their Pizzas.

  • man, I think I'm gonna have to go make myself an artichoke pizza now.

    great composition!

  • ubergossen... excellent decision on that Pizza! Thanks for the compliment on the music, as well. It was kind of freaky doing a Symphonic instrument type piece with Tablas. They work interestingly with Brass and Strings.

  • Hi Diesel ...how are you ;-)

    I like artichokes!

And beautiful pictures and vid of this beautiful interesting plant!

    Kiss

    Mary

  • Hi Mary! Oh, I'm fine. Been pretty busy lately, but just had to crank out a new composition and video. I'm glad to hear your views on the Artichoke! I'm really into the so-called ''weed'' plants, the Thistles being amongst my favorite. It's cool that people long ago found that they could eat them... like Artichokes and Cardoon.

    Smooch & 8-)

  • Hi Maestro Bodine, Artichokes are very ugly plants to look at but they taste great, once a Friend made it with a nice dip-sauce,yummy,fantastic. Like so many things in life, don't judge from the outside but dig deeper for the true Aroma. This Music is very interesting and somehow combines these symbolic Elements of dissonance and Beauty,Cool Scott, very Cool,Vic.

  • Hello Maestro Vic, I wouldn't judge any plant by its appearance, especially when they taste good! I actually like the Thistle family of plants and would like a Thistle garden, that's why I need to live far away from any neighbors. I used tonality and some elements of atonality, including a tone row riff. Just got to let it fly, brother. LOL & 8-)

  • Great video.

I like artichokes except for peeling them.

I remember during ww2 peanut butter wasn`t available.

A substitute made out of soybeans was all we could get and was called Soya heart or Soy heart.

Anyway, after the war, i couldn`t get enough of that delicious peanut butter.

  • Hi Gene, I love Peanut Butter, too. I like eating it just as it is... a big spoonful. I've been eating Cashew Butter, Almond Butter, Sunflower Seed Butter and Sesame Seed Butter, too. They are all delicious!

  • I never liked artichokes but my mother loved them. Very beanstockish music for the featured veggie! Great job. Sounds like a movie background where you expect someone to come out of the field dragging his feet and looking like a zombie. The attack of the artichokes!

  • Hi Rhonda... when I was a kid, I didn't like vegetables, except Corn and Baked Beans. I started eating more once I realized vegetables are my friends. Now, I'm hooked on them and I couldn't be happier in this regard! 8-)

  • Neat video, Scott! :)

  • Thanks, Karen! The Artichoke may just become my main reason for existing. LOL & 8-)

  • Wonderful music, excellent video, and unusual topic! Could anyone else make a 4 minute plus vid on artichokes interesting? lol Great job!

  • Hello Steve, I hadn't researched to see if anyone else wrote music for the Artichoke, but if they hadn't, it was time to do it, I guess! In Italy it's considered a ''noble'' vegetable, so I've read... and why not?

    They're delicious. 8-)

  • May be the next Soybean substitute...

    I like 'em too !!!

    Yeah Buddy !!!

    -B. Bob

  • Hello Basement Bob... I hope they don't substitute my Soybeans with anything! I love Soybeans. I haven't found a bean yet I haven't liked, but when it comes to vegetables, the only two that I know of that I'm not a big fan of are Red Beets and Swiss Chard. 8-)

  • Very good!

  • Thanks, pianoloverok. I think I'll have some Artichokes for dinner tonight. 8-)

  • Very powerful homage to the artichoke Scott! So since it's the flowering head of the plant, technically is it a vegetable or a fruit?

  • Hello Paul, I presume they would be considered a vegetable, since fruit is what happens after pollination and the reproductive cycle forms a unit to disperse the seeds of the plant. The Artichoke is a stage previous to this fruit bearing occurrence. 8-)

  • Artichokes are a strange thing,,You peel off each layer to find this ugly little fruit thing..lol..I actually live near a Artichoke farm!! lol Great vid and homage!! Oh and i'am calling 'her' Summer!! :) xx

  • Hello Queen Nina. ''Summer'' is a fine name, indeed. The ''hearts'' of Artichokes are quite tasty. Wow, you have an Artichoke farm near you! Cool. I guess, if they grow in England, the ones I'm growing should do fine. 8-)

  • Well it's a 'covered up' farm which is indoors and heated!! lol :)

  • Hi Queen Nina. Oh. Hmmm... maybe I should build a heated building for my Artichoke crop, if you can call 6 plants a crop! Well, we'll see what happens. 8-)

  • You like artichokes then? Quite a dramatic piece of music for such a vegetable. Mind you, it is a globe, I'm sure the humble Jerusalem artichoke wouldn't get such regal treatment. :)

  • Hello Cathy! Yes, I love Artichokes. The Jerusalem Artichoke, or Sunchoke, being of the Sunflower family, does deserve a fine musical tribute as well. Sunflowers are awesome, too! I grew Sunchokes once, but oddly never got around to digging up the tubers and eating them. I have to try them someday! 8-)

  • Awesome soundtrack Scott! 5 stars man! Cheers!

  • Hello Ed. Thanks, man! To make a Stereo video, I had to compress the video from 936.1 MB to 10.5 MB, so the pic gets a little distorted sometimes, but the Soundtrack is in Stereo. Glad you liked it! Cheers! 8-)

  • I love artichokes,:)

  • Hello proofisinthepudding. I just ate some Artichokes yesterday mixed in with Baked Beans. It was delicious and I'd do it again, hopefully soon!

  • I never thought I would receive an education from a video like this. Pretty neat.

  • Hello snarp98... I don't know if you like eating Artichokes, but searching the Internet can give us lots of info on anything you want to know about. We take the history and other information on the food we eat for granted. I was going to add informative text to the video, but decided to use just the various pics.

  • I never knew they would grow into a flower, I like them sautee'd with garlic and olive oil!

the hearts are the best part though!

  • Hello Dave! Being from California, you probably got to eat a lot of them at a decent price. I bought 6 plants and I hope they give me some nice Artichokes to eat. The climate is different here than where they normally grow... the Mediterranean area, California, Australia, etc., but I'm giving them a try. Sautéed in Olive Oil with Garlic sounds pretty tasty! I'll have to try that... all vegetables are good that way! 8-)

  • Wow. I just realised I don't think I've ever eaten an artichoke! I quite like asparagus, the artichoke's skinny brother, tho. I'll have to go and buy some. How do you cook 'em? Intresting musical interpretation of the spiky (and strangely alien-looking) vegetable! :o)

  • Hello Derek! Search Google on how to prepare them. I'm growing them this year myself, but I've been eating canned ones which I'm sure aren't as good as fresh. The best part is called the ''heart,'' which is what you find with the canned ones. I don't eat much canned food, so I'm looking forward to the fresh ones I'm growing. It's an acquired taste, but I really like them in soup, on pizza, mixed with noodles, etc.. I hope you find a good way to eat them and you enjoy a new vegetable! 8-)
