  • I think Asia should preserve it's culture as much as possible. Especially Japan! I say that because it's my interest.

  • 「アジアの明日」。

    ・・・感じました。

  • Great song!!!!... By the way, about the westernization thing.... Some of you are getting confused... America is not one ethnic groups' nation. It is all culture's nations. So don't confuse Americanization with the term "white wash" it's very insulting.. Also I think he's less portraying westernization and more globalization in general/modernization.. I doubt he's talking about "Americanization" Great song!!!

  • I like it. Btw can we classify this piece as Fugue?

  • No , we cant

  • Well, that was a late but a clear answer.

  • すごいとしか言いようがない

  • GRAAR. I hate it when people put talking at the beginning or end of these...the music is beautiful though, as always. I have yet to hear a piece by Joe Hisaishi that I don't like.

  • Zhan Li Jun is chinese. This concert is japanese or chinese?

I love Zhan Li Jun, she is the best erhu player.

  • this concert is japanese

  • theres something sensual about women playing erhu..

  • She is Zhan Li Jun. 12 Girls Band member.

  • I love asia

  • What does he said? I couldn't understand him

=( But the music is awesome!!!!!!!=D

  • Ohh......mmm well thanks for taking your time....^^

  • The song, "Asian Crisis" is basically about the asian crisis which basically means that asia is becoming way too white washed. What he's talking about is that his music is trying to convey the graveness of this crisis & the consequences it will come with. I watched this special on NHK. Nerd, I know. :]

    Hope that helped

  • Ohh Thank You Very Much =) and Yeah it is very helpful my friend!!!

  • What does he mean by white washed, too commercial, to mainstream, to westernized?

  • Well, this is true for Japan at least.

But since WW II people are striving to be more western. Blonde hair, color contacts, americanized signs, the tearing down of beautiful old buildings for new western style homes.

Now, please don't mistaken westernization with modernization. I dont believe he's against moving forward, just against erasing what was behind us.

  • Oh, so by whitewashed, he means a loss of culture, tradition, history.

It's a shame how that trend is happening all over the world. Even in America, some people feel that old ways and values are being forgotten. Not that I mean to take the view off of Asia, every land is distinct in it's experience.

    Thanks for the clarification.

  • oh yeah. it's really happening all over asia. compare korean songs from 4 years ago and now you'll hear that it's becoming more american. Chinese songs, gosh, 6 out of 10 songs have english in them, most of the time they're either misused or mispronounced...but yeah totally agree. we're losing our culture...X.X..

  • There is nothing wrong with accepting another culture, but we are forgetting where we are coming from, and therefore we are losing our culture. And I totally agree with the english language being misused and half of the ideas that we get of the western world is the media, which is 95% misconception and stereotyped ideas, and when we get ideas from a thing like that, we can't tolerate it.

  • it's a sad thing...we live in a world that's ruled by capitalism. Capitalism, amounst all the bad things, is a destroyer of cultures.

  • thats communism

  • hahahahaha

  • wow! I love this song. the er hu instrument is very captivating!

  • Most of the instruments in this performance are Chinese ones.

  • Joe Hisaishi, you´re THE composer!!!!!! I´ll watch him live soon, tht´s a swear!!

  • wish there were a full orchestra, >.< I just want to hear a much fuller orchestral sound.

  • I see where you're coming from, but using soloists just gives it so much more personality!!

  • Joe Hisaishi is one of Japanese famous artist.

  • ah~ic.

ya, the name sounded like Japanese, but, I dunno why I thought it was Chinese. huh~

  • I think some women Joe playing with are Chinese

  • Yes, the two that are playing the traditional Chinese (erhu, guqin)instruments are Chinese.

  • he usually play with many nationality.

  • Wonderful

  • such versatility!
