  • chick corea is so incredibly inventive!fuck!

  • estuvieron muuy ritmicos los solos de mcferrin y corea.! son unos mosntruos.!

  • el solo de bobby estuvo una pasadaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.:!! es un maestro.!

  • Chick Corea's solo at the end was too sick. Holy crap. That was fantastic!

  • then Spain on Banjo, wicked as it is, CC is a genius

  • If you want scat listen to Al Jarreau. He lays down a sick scat solo.

  • Bobby...I love your solo at 1:14 :)

  • THAT WAS SO FREAKIN SICK

  • amazing... just came here after listening to Stevie Wonder's rendition and the original by Corea in 1975... and i think this is a level higher... and given that it is played at the Blue Note... reminds me of At The Blue Note by the KJ trio :)

don't worry about ppl who don't like this. they are challenged.

  • Chick is truly of another planet.....holy holy shit !!!

  • Se escucha muy bajo

  • @Timbocf check out Hiromi and chick corea's Spain. Then check out Hiromi - Kung Fu championship AMAZING!!!

  • AWESOME

  • Comment removed

  • i love chick's spacing solo so bad

    so fugging creative

  • HO. LEE. CRAP.

I've never heard jazz I liked better than this. Truly amazing. I couldn't believe Bela chick and "don't worry be happy" together but holy crap... Bobby was SPOT ON!!

And yes... A little victor Wooten and this would have given me a jazzgasm. ;D

  • @timbocf you dont listen to much jazz, do you?

this is good and all.. but the best? not even close. also bobby has done way more than 'dont worry be happy'.

victor wooten would have ruined the vibe.

  • @superchuds while i agree with you about vic wooten not fitting in, you don't have to be a douchebag about it. so what if @timbocf hasn't listened to much jazz? you should encourage him instead of putting him down, it's comments like these that paint jazz lovers as "elitist" and turn people off

  • The real fuss should be about how disgusting looking Chick is getting these days.

  • @woutertron he's always looked wierd. That's not something to worry about for one of the best musicians breathing right now

  • THAT is a real improvisation!!

  • Also may I add that Chick and Bela went on tour together several years back..this isn't a fluke performance. If their styles didn't match they wouldn't have gone on tour.

  • I don't know what the fuss and over analyzing is about...just enjoy the music.

  • buenisimo!!!!!!! despegados de la realidad!!! de otro mundo!

  • @OhMyHj actually, he was trying hard to read into bobby's improvisation, he even switches to a harmonically wrong chord once shortly after, at 2:26. Then Bobby proceeds to signal "its ok" and resumes being awesome together

  • Making love to that mic

  • hell yes!!!! this is awesome

  • maravilla

  • All this stupidity about banjos, etc. If the instrument was musically deficient, don't you think Chick Corea and Bobby McFerrin would exclude them from the performance? What chimp-minded fool thinks he has better musical judgement than those eminent gentlemen? What a freaking ignorant half-witted in-breed. Go back to your chicken-crap air guitar competitions. The banjo was invented to cut through non-amplified big band performances in large halls. Idiot.

  • the banjo player is amazing as are chick and bobby truly one of there finest performances.. im so glad we have things like you tube to see things like this so freely

  • @Jazztastic2112

look up the flecktones version of spain here on youtube so you can really see bela and his divine bass player victor wooten dig this tune!

  • god could someone upload the whole concert please.

  • @gnulinger coming from soneone that listens to boston.. i expect this.. lead your ignorant talentless life and let us enjoy this universal language.. derp

  • le langage de l'âme

  • i don't feel chick corea and bela fleck match

  • @cocy3000 It's Chick's responsibility to find another register. If he competes with Bela's registers he can really blame Bela, he has no where to go, 2 octaves, 5 strings vs 7.5 octaves and 250 strings. The banjo in jazz is not a foreign concept. Listen to old time big band music from Louisiana. Bela did a good job I thought.

  • 31 people just shat themselves, and clicked the wrong button in a rush.

    God-tier music right here.

  • I love it i love it!!!!

  • chick corea is a scientologist.

  • @clementbazin Who gives a fuck? He's still amazing.

  • @AttackMyAss

Yup, he is. But, scientology still sucks, so he has a point. lol

  • @clementbazin If this would be the key to play like that I would also become one... ;-)

  • @clementbazin and ghandi is hindu.. whats your point?

  • @clementbazin

so are the founders of the deering banjo co... big deal

  • As of today , we have confirmation that there are at least 31 morons in the world.....and they all disliked this beautiful, haunting version of Spain as performed by 3 consummate jazz artists!

  • @dlmaston hahahahahahahahah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Chick Corea is oner of the pillars most current jazz is built on - and he's played with almost everyone in nthe jazz section!

  • I guess why they call it jazz fusion, is because hands and the creative center of the brain becomes one..?

Bobby McFerrin and Chick Correa are legends to be told off.

  • i just love how he gets a cowbell out of nowhere

  • McFerrin has much space from 1:12-1:34...and he fills it so beautifully!

  • Fucking Chick and his ability to write a beautiful song that legions of brilliant musicians just have to play along to.

  • lol

  • M A R A V I L H O S O !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • no words.....

  • haha "BEElah BEElah!"

the cowbell at the end also rules

  • haha "BEElah BEElah!"

  • the guy on the banjo is sweating balls LOL

  • Holy Fuck!

How can somebody think about other thing but music with such beautiful MUSIC being playing around....?!?

Were tha hell this Scientology thing talking camed from?!? ¬¬

    #sad

  • chick corea's baggy shirts make me laugh. but it doesn't matter, since he's probably better at life than i am.

  • @gnulinger You're entitled to your opinion but I don't see why you have to completely devalue the genre. I don't like jazz but I appreciate the musicianship it takes to play it and recognize how complex and intricate it is and while I don't like all of it can find some things I do. I seriously doubt you've ever listend to any GOOD bluegrass. You should at least be open minded enough to give it a shot. There's too much great music out there to risk missing out on just because of how it's labeled.

  • i think the banjo sounds beautiful and also i don't really have anything against scientology the religion, the teachings and concepts, sure it's goofy but it's sort of harmless. the harmful thing is the CHURCH of scientology, the actual organization of human beings that amounts to a dangerous cult. the internet abounds with horror stories, which you can find with some level one google fu if you're so inclined.

  • @gnulinger First, the accordion is a beautiful instrument if played in the right context. Second, I'm pretty sure this video is proof the banjo is good for more than just bluegrass. Third, bluegrass is an extremely complex and intricate genre that has some of the most complete and respected musicians in the world (see Chris Thile, Jerry Douglas, Tony Rice, Bela Fleck, Mark O'Conner etc.). Go listen to Bela Fleck's Tales from the Acoustic Planet: The Bluegrass Sessions then tell me it's not good.

  • @gnulinger Why would anyone NOT choose the banjo?

  • @gnulinger Why would anyone NOT chose the banjo?

  • interesting, but boring. Bobby had nothing to say. Chick is a well of creativity as always

  • @TheJuliusJT okay he didn't do any dimeola-speed shredding scats. he sang some nice legato lines .nice, and not boring at all. but: he also "said"1 the bass part, scatted. he said 2 a percussion part .perfect, scatted. do you know how difficult that is? on Spain? " interesting but boring." it's one or the other. check the dictionary and decide.

  • again who would dislike this..

  • @Narriz britney spear's fans probably LOL

  • There's something about Bobby that makes you say, "this dude cant be serious"... then end up liking him...

    Insane solo by Chick!!!

  • that is lovely; yet, in my view, the version with Bobby on Radezvous in New York cd has no equals!

  • cowbell.

  • Chick is a legend that will ive forever... I wonder how he feels about that...

  • Awesome man!!! never saw this before

  • Amazing!!!

  • when was this?

  • Hej Papa, kanske du ser det innan du flyger till Sverige. I just love Bobby, han är en av dom stösta Idoler für mig. Det gör sâ gott att höra son musik. Synd, det är so tust. sk, Milena

  • hhhh this shit is a so bad like americans pepole

  • great performance!

  • ...so deft in touch and execution

Airto's sublime percussion from the original is somehow in the mix for me here...

    great post. thanks!

  • masterpiece + 3x genius = ♥

  • Actually the Banjo has always been a Jazz instrument because before the invention of amplification it was simply louder than a guitar. Awesome trio though this banjo player is something else.

  • I love weird musical ensembles, and nothing weirdest than piano banjo bobby. Great.

  • WOW Chick Corea and Bobby Mcferrin on the same stage in the same time? Isn't it a dream? They are genious!! I really love it!!:)

  • Who in their right mind puts freaking BANJO in Jazz?! I'm impressed, offended, and aroused all at once.

  • @lifecoredave Search for Bella Fleck and The Flecktones and open your mind.

  • @tomacoexperiment actually, he's Béla Fleck. Not Bella or Bela. He's Hungarian.

  • @morrisal and so...?

  • @tomacoexperiment and so you wrote "Bella Fleck". I corrected, that's all.

  • @morrisal isn't he from tennessee?

  • @dawizard737 my bad... he got his name after Béla Bartók, the famous Hungarian composer, but he really is American. i thought he was Hungarian. But his name is still Béla and not Bella. :)

  • Lol cowbell

  • wow..wow..

  • greaat!

  • Did this ever happen in a studio?with mics and boards? this is off the wall!!!!

  • 10% of the human brain is used. 90% is unknown. you think its more than 10%?

  • @LeonLeonheart5422

Wrong dumbass, you ever see someone with 90% of their brain removed trying to function normally?

  • @doublebassballz

Yes, they became President for 2000-2008.

  • nice....

  • like 2:17-2:30

and the almost 1 minute ending... haha

  • great!

  • giants walk the earth.

  • chic corea is so fucking musical.. how can so much music be kept inside a single body?!?

  • music is not in someone, is all around us and any one can put it on paper or instrument and some are better than others and some are great at it

  • What's really incredible is that it's kept in about 1130 cubic centimeters (The average size of the human brain).

  • @elchingoncabron

It's really all in his mind, but he lets it all out at once, like here.

  • this is just the best music to just relax and feel the music=)

  • Srsly someone post where i can buy this set he speakin of these 3 of the best musicians ever i just learned ther played a show together O_O

  • rofl... just rofl.

  • @toritos75 ahahahahahaha good man

  • @toritos75 LOL

  • @toritos75 You could call that "holy shit!!"

  • @toritos75 hahahaha oh shit just like me bro

    amazing song

  • wow this is incredible...

  • wow!!!! I love this 3 monsters of jazz!!

  • Thoroughly Human, and, thus, grand.

    Thoughts: What a unique and inspired, collaboration;

Great solos all; Watching Chick's hands is always a treat (as soulful as he is, his technique is classically legit); McFerrin is the greatest musical instrument of all, the Acoustic Human; My fave musical moment is when McFerrin and Fleck comp on Chic's solo, and become equal to the best of any rhythm sections he has ever had.

  • the cowbell at the end had me in knots xD

  • When ever I hear Bela play....he just brings that "Home cooked" feeling to a song....It's weird I don't know how to explain it....I just love the song, Chick,Bobby and Bela's skills.

  • lol mcferrin says "black baby" @ 1:18 LOL tell me he doesn't...

  • interesting... ;)

  • that run at 5:40......wow

  • Bobby McFerrin really has a greatvoice for this :D. The composition is truly amazing, but this somewhat "world music" rendition of it gives it a whole new dimension to this piece.

  • We can see three swiss wathes here. Amazing...

  • Coreas's hands and brain should be preserved in a museum...so much creativity and balance is too much...wow...I have no idea how he can be into scientology, he's way to impressive as a human being to be into that...but I guess it's his business...

  • I wish I wouldn't have read this. I hate finding out people are scientolgists.

  • Hey, with Coreas's permission, I'd like to see his brain preserved, in the Los Angeles Science Center. The guy is brilliant!!!!

  • @dixxjamm Perhaps because you dont' know what scientology really is... Then, you would understant!

  • @nouche03500 It is founded by an ordinary man of dubious human qualities who wrote some second-rate SciFi novels and stories and had an idea of creating a religion...almost all scientologists I've seen speak non-sensically and behave like lunatics...do I REALLY need to know more ?

  • @dixxjamm Yeah, you do. And to be honest, that description you gave fits other religions (except it wasn't ScIFi novels at the time, it was Textbooks). That's not enough reason to discredit it. It's your right to discredit it, but only once you know it fully. Until then, you're talking out of either a badly fundamented opinion, or an opinion that is not truly yours.

@subgerocallidus: Partly, only. But I get your point.

  • @Blues003 I am not religious,so I couldn't care less about your comparisons. However,if we're talking about religion generated weirdness, the new religions are really the worst.Oh,and by the way,I am not against religion,I respect anybody's beliefs, and I expect MY opinions to be respected in return. And what I said are more than opinions, they are facts.

  • @dixxjamm Nor am I religious, dixxjamm. I was however curious to check why such a brilliant mind as Corea joined Scientology, so I did my "homework" and found out. I'm not affiliated with any religion (used to be an atheist, am an agnostic now). I like the principles you guide yourself by; I guide myself by them too. Just make sure you give the corresponding impression: claiming those are "facts" isn't respecting other's opinions, it's more like "Let's agree to disagree, even if I'm right". ;)

  • @dixxjamm Scientology is a lot more than the prejudice it's the target of.

  • @Blues003 Yes. But It is also the predjudice that is aimed at it. Which discredits the rest of it.

  • @dixxjamm He's probably a scientologist because it makes more sense for him to hail from Mars. The mans inhuman, man.

  • Everyone's got to find what floats their boat

  • @dixxjamm I'm an Atheist myself but I don't see how Scientology is any more wacky than Christianity or Creationism. I don't think Chick does anything with his beliefs which harm others, and he seems happy so why even mention it?

  • @upT3mpo That's hardly the point. Christianity happens to be a much older and a widespread religion, most people (me included) were born with it,with Xmas, churches and all that. Some of us later decided that it's not for us.Which brings me to my point: Corea DECIDED on this religion as an adult, which is odd for a man of such extraordinary abilities and intellect. It's like hearing that Einstein was into multi-level marketing and was selling cosmetics to his friends.

  • @dixxjamm Yes I agree I do find it interesting myself that he has made a conscious decision as an adult but unless you've sat down and heard his direct beliefs, your judgement is ignorant. If you supposedly respect him so much, wouldn't you therefore by definition give him some credit for making his decisions AS an adult? What do you dislike so much about Scientology that is any different to Christiology?

  • There is no comparison between Al Jareau's version and Bobby McFerrin's version. They are each in a World of Their Own. Each wonderful and rich. And the same for the piano styles of the two composer accumpanists virtuosos!!! They are BOTH my FAVORITES

  • Wow this is Sweet!

  • Chick is the man!

  • damn, i didnt think any vocalist could hold a candle to al jerreaus performance of this. guess i was wrong.

  • wow on the banjo no less!

  • DEAR CHICK COREA: it sucks that pages and pages of commentary don't mention what a bad-ass Chick Corea is for his composition and his incomparable piano owning

  • This is one of those songs that I just love to hear Bobby do. No one does it like he does it. Just love his version:)

  • Just go there Bobby, amazing vocals

  • I <3 2:15 - 3:05

  • I <3 0:01 - 6:31 :)

  • Haha, omg I love that exact same part!

  • Hermoso!

  • All of these musicians are fantastic. I personally don't know how the hell Bela Fleck can pull that on the banjo. The mix of sounds is unexpected and weird, but just right. Nice.

  • wow...thx for upload...i love Bobby's music..his talent..amazing!!

  • Bobby sounded a bit Brazilian here...

  • omg, u noticed that? and why?? tech me plz, if u do not mind too much =)

  • How can you NOT know who Bobby Mcferrin is? then why are you listening tu this true masters??? better listen to Daddy Yankee or something you may understand.... Spain is a wonderful masterpiece.... And Bobby is just and incredible artist...

  • > Spain is a wonderful masterpiece....

    > And Bobby is just and incredible artist...

    full ack

  • Don't be so heavy. Is not like you know all the musicians around the world.

  • this was great but im not to sure of the singer. like ive never heard him before and this isnt a good introduction to him. is there any of this guys good stuff on youtube.

  • it's bobby mc ferrin, all his tunes whith chick corea are great. He made the famous "Don't worry be Happy". He have many solo tunes, see the album "The Voice" on deezer, Blackbirds, which is on youtube is one of the most famous !

  • I have a recording of Bobby McFerrin and Chick Corea doing Spain. Bobby McFerrin sings much more in that version. Maybe he sings less on this one so that Bela Fleck can play more.

  • bobby mc ferrin man, c´mon! mmm the don´t worry be happy thing? cosby show?

  • yo bobby mcferrin is one of the greatest contemporary male jazz singers - he also did beatboxing before beatboxing was a thing. there is a ton of great stuff on here of him
