  • hahaha watch what the youtube translator has to say when they are yelling. It makes no sense, and then the translator just dies of fright or something.

  • Fight rebel fight!!!!!!!!!!!

  • How are sloths, manatees and cats related to this?

  • Personal grudges and slurs aside, its interesting that they were able to preserve this part of history. Such a war cry would have been unnerving for an opponent to hear, a means of psycological warfare. As for anyone saying that it couldn't serve such a purpose, you might have to be a vet to understand what certain things can do to you. I remember Iraq, especially during the darkest of nights, hearing the slightest of noises and it giving me an edginess. RIP soldiers of both North and South.

  • The ignorant need to read the letters and diaries. The Civil War was about the North wanting cotton, sugar and other taxes from the South. Lincoln even stated in one letter that if he could preserve the Union and not free a single slave, he would do so. It was about money! A very small percentage of Southerners actually owned slaves and there were also slave owners in the NORTH. Stop relying on your public school education and research for yourself.

  • @RightProud Just like now, politicians hid their real agenda behind some false moral richeousness, like proclaiming it was about slavery. Oh really, then why didn't they go after Northern slave owners FIRST? Because they gained nothing by doing so, they already taxed them. The North wanted the riches that the South would bring to the treasury.

  • @RightProud *righteousness. Got too fired up to spell!

  • @RightProud there are many reasons the war was believed to have begun, I think it was essentially about a power struggle as the south was losing it's weight in elections as the north had a much faster growing population, and Lincoln was supported by no one in the south which must have raised the opinion that the south had no say.

  • 3:12...LMFAO....again....

  • Excuse my ignorance...but at 2:53... LMFAO

  • What an eerie sound. Great vid.

  • @Gunny762 its true. The civil war was fought mainly for states' rights. Most southerners didn't own slave and opposed it while some northerners did own slaves

  • @whitetailassasin97 Facts mean little or nothing to those sanctimonious few who think they know it all. Thanks for saring though. :)

  • BTW does the narrorator know how to shut the hell up?

  • @whitetailassasin97 No,he's from New York

  • Who let the dogs out?

  • 23 yeanks craped after this.

  • @erice495able Talking about your great union Grant owned more salves than Robert E Lee and Stonewall Jackson

  • @16BrookeAnne General Grant owned exactly one slave. Lee inherited a number from relatives and Jackson's family owned 5. Other than the fact that you're incorrect, your use of Lee and Jackson is a poor comparison, as both were very liberal by Confederate standards. There were many Confederates who were in fact anti-slavery, just as there were many Northerners who were pro-slavery. The war was more about political and economic reasons than it was about any moral issues of owning slaves.

  • @16BrookeAnne General Grant owned exactly one slave, while Lee owned a number that were inherited and Jackson's family owned 5. Other than the fact that you're incorrect, your comparison is a poor once, since Lee and Jackson were very liberal by Confederate standards. There were many Northerners who were pro-slavery, just as there were a large number of Southerners who were against it. In any case, the war was fought more for political and economic reasons than for any moral qualms about slaves.

  • REBELLION!!

  • sounds like bitching dogs

  • no amount of screamin could beat the great union. don't get me wrong, the south had some of the best generals history has ever seen; Lee, Stonewall, Longstreet etc. but no one can compare to what Grant did out west at Vicksburg, Chickamauga, Chattanooga, Henry and Donelson. and Shiloh back east.

  • @erice495able Grant outnumbered every group of Confederates he ever faced.

  • @erice495able: No amount of screaming could beat the union? Go to a cemetery and tell that to the ones who fought at Bull Run or Second Manassas, or a vast number of battles from 61-62 or after.

  • @PooPoo2U I'm sorry, who won the war? oh thats right. and 61-62 or after. like what happened when the Union beat the Rebs at Gettysburg, Shiloh, Chattanooga, Vicksburg, Atlanta, Cedar Creek and about 240 other battles. Not to mention the Union was able to completely destroy Confederate strongholds like New Orleans, Atlanta and Mobile.

  • @erice495able: Ah, so by your very own logic I suppose we just got our asses handed to us in Vietnam huh? I mean after all, we DID concede the war to them.

    Derrrrrrrrp.

  • @PooPoo2U yes, we did get our asses handed to us in Vietnam. By any ones logic we did.

  • I would shit my pants hearing this on the battlefield. It's fucking intimidating, very ominous.

  • RoninScholar...lol

    You are an idiot, sir.

  • Shelby Foote says no one knows what the rebel yell sounds like, if that is true, that means the south is dead. How could the legacy of the south die in a hundred and fifty years? If that knowledge were not passed down from generation to generation, I suspect there never was a 'rebel yell." And just because some old man warbled into a microphone...doesn't mean shit

  • Sounds like a bunch of blood thirsty savages, yeehaa I love the south.

  • no wonder the yankees had a hard time against the Confederates.

  • In the midnight hour, she cried "More, more, more"

  • DaxflameFanSite: Thanks so much for your diligent research, and the quality of your presentation.

    L. H. "Larry" Head, Jr.

    Texarkana, TX

  • @GALOON & others: The southern states seceeded because they felt the government was no longer serving them or protecting their welfare. It had nothing to do with owning or keeping ownership of slaves. Slavery was in fact protected by the Constitution, and in 1860 the Yankee dominated Congress passed the 'Corwin Amendment', which, had it been ratified into law, would have PREVENTED any future amendments from abolishing slavery. So if anything, the southern upheaval was probably the only act of o

  • The war of the rebelion series of books described the yell as more like calling of the hogs on a farm, done en mass. Much like the Zulu war cries, it's not impressive from one person, but out thousands will literally scare the poop out of you.

That said, it's been well documented that there was no recording of even the vets doing the yell with more than a few people. The sound of what Union forces really heard in battle is sadly lost to history.

  • I hope the yankees are happy with their Empire they have created in the past 150 years. They should be overwhelmed about their new president.

  • They sound like monkeys lol

  • Hey iSkate!

You ever been in the army? Gotta lotta army boys here wanna meet you son.

  • My grandpa used to copy that from his grandpa to call in the horses. G Gpa was with General Early.

  • FUCKED YOU GUYS UP IN THE CIVIL WAR!

  • Great! Next time I'm in the woods alone I'll try to do that...

  • 2nd Lt Ronny Miller here from SCV Stephen R Mallory Camp. I heard this compatriot a few years ago and it gave me chills, but now with a whole brigade all I can say is WOW, if I was a Yankee I would run like hell!! Thanks for sharing

  • sounds like a Native American war cry.. Apache.. So much for being original heh!

  • @Aznar245 Alot of soldiers had had experience fingting Native Americans so it relay originated from that and just men yelling while charging filled with adrenaline.

  • damn sent chills up my spine

  • @darkhound891 yeah me 2. Cool though.

  • IN THE MIDNIGHT HOUR BABE, SHE CRIED MORE, MORE, MORE! WITH A REBEL YELL, SHE CRIED MORE, MORE, MORE, MORE-MORE-MORE!

  • @CKnightsofni haha

  • They're like cute little puppy dogs

  • @spamdude1 Not if you had to face them spam.

  • @spamdude1 ok. Now imagine 1000 men in grey charging towards you with sharpened bayonets shouting that :)

  • @darthjamula

Was fighting for the union in the Gburg reenactment for the first time last year.

... Just about shit my pants.

.... Fighting for the south next year....

  • Comment removed

  • wow if i was a northerner i would be running like hell

  • Wow... I'm southerner and I love the rebel yell but I must admit that would scare the heck outta me if I was being charged by a bunch of fierce looking, rebel screaming, rebs that were gonna bayonet me. Makes me proud to be a Southerner. :D

  • So this isnt the billy idol song of the same title?

    Awe shucks....

I think this song sucks. Sounds like Heyenas

  • @Omevor First of all it's not a song it's was a scream to make the northern to run the heck from the battlefield.....

  • @88Tomm88 Because that seems to have worked well for them.

  • So this isnt the billy idol song of the same title?

    Awe shucks....

  • I am not American (although I have spent a few months with my cousins in Virginia) and I fully support the Confederacy. I don't agree with everything they believe, but I admire them for fighting for what they believe in.

  • @carnagejc Remember though, not all people that fought for what they believed in had good intentions.

The CSA just wanted to keep their way of life.

  • @carnagejc You support something that no longer exists. You sound like if I would say "I fully support the Dacians."

  • @dhaddox I think I got the point I was making across you are just being pedantic.

  • @carnagejc

I fully agree with you, greetings from Italy

  • Oh. You Didn't Mean The Song "Rebel Yell" .......... Awkward.

  • Yeah.. Obama might be a good man..... the type of guy you'd want to go have a beer with. But for him to have been catapulted into the Presidency by the corrupt corporate machine that funds the lame stream media was a complete ponzi scheme. The guy had NO EXECUTIVE EXPERIENCE much less any pertaining to business. The fact that he'd adopted the keynesian economical theory shows such as it has woefully failed. I want a guy nice or not that can get the job done, PERIOD. He's basically Bush on roids

  • @FastPonyGT The only reason Obama became president is that it boiled down to pathetic politicaly correctness."what would be cooler the 1st black president or the 1st woman president?"They're all fucking liars and NONE of them do what they say they will do. I'm 36 and have never voted or registered to vote cause just like when Cali voted med weed legal, the Gov overturned it meaning ur vote means shit in America. We are a "Republic" not a democracy learn your pledge of allegiance peeps

  • @TheDeKLiNe0FMaN Perfect comment, sir. I agree totally.

  • I just almost wasted two posts telling you why you have no right to argue....Without even beginning to point out flaws in your "point" (Note sarcasm quotes). I'll give you the short hand.

Learn English, and then you may.

Formulate a valid argument, and then you may.

Hold back on the wanton insults, and then you may.

  • i am a rebel

  • @dogofdog1018

I'm sure they would have handled economics better than the assholes we currently have in Washington. You talk about idiots, you don't even know proper grammar, "would of won." Any idiot knows it's would have one.

  • God bless our southern kin folks that foult for our freedom in the days of a goverment just out for our money.Oh HELL dam that sounds like whats goen on now.We need a rematch.DEO VINDICE

  • 'right face, forward",...

  • @Lee05211

    YEAH FUCK BUSH!

  • If and when this country dissolves hopefully it will be peacefully. No great nation lasts forever history will always support that.

  • idc what u two top comments just wanna keep beating poor african americans u r all just fucking racists

  • what a bunch of pathetic southern rednecks grow up and admit you gingivitis freaks lost the civil war the union blasted you homosexuals hahahahahahaha

  • @Reneelwaring. You're spot on. That's exactly what the CSA troops were trying to emulate.

  • Deo Vindice!!

  • @magnussmitt Tempus blacks albo mundo occidunt superbia austri surget iterum

  • ironic this video was published in NY!!!! LOL

  • Sounds like an Indian yell if you ask me. If the South wanted to strike fear into the North, what better yell could there be than the one used by Native American fighters.

  • @Reneelwaring

That it does, but also consider this, would it not sound as a Celtic war band, charging against the Roman Legions?

  • @Ottoman1337 No.

  • @owainmeurig

    And your argument is?

  • @Ottoman1337 I don't need an arguement, nobody's heard a "Celtic war band charging" and the celts definitely never heard a native american and they spoke a different language to the rebels so the chances that their yell sounded similar is slim.

  • The North argued that slaves were not people and should not be counted at all. Secondly, the abolition of slavery did not spark Southern secession. The violation of the Missouri Compromise by the admission of Kansas as a free state and the subsequent ban on slavery in any new states caused it. The Emancipation Proclamation wasn't issued until near the end of the war.

  • @WestVirginiaTrooper

Buddy, got to correct you on a few things:

    1. The Missouri Compromise stipulated that there would be no SLAVE states from Missouri further north. That compromise was violated by Stephen Douglass Popular Sovereignty idea.

    2. There never was a Federal ban on slavery in new territories or states; it was left up to the individual states to decide if they would be slave for free, ie States' Rights.

    3. The Emancipation Proclamation was issued in late 62, took effect in Jan 63.

  • Liddlelegrande. You would be well served to study the Civil War a bit more before offering up "facts". The 3/4 compromise was offered up by the Northern States. The South wanted each slave counted as a whole person for the purpose of representation in the House of Representatives, which would have given those states a majority and thus allowing them to pass legislation to take control of the market for the raw materials they produced which were needed by the industrial North.

  • wtf

  • Look how well things have turned out.Taxpayers burden.

  • @BEATDOWNBANKER The South was exactly right. They, like their forefathers of the U.S. Constitution, knew from past history that the Fat Cats of a tyrannical government (i.e. Britian) would become too corrupt..... corrupt to core of 14 trillion dollars. Sic Semper Tyrannis!

  • @FastPonyGTYou are correct Sir!

  • the only americans which are like the old are the ones in texas, the other ones which thinks they wrong and ignorant are probaly the ones afraid of how fast the blacks/jews/mexicans and asians breed.

  • The south sucks, and will never rise again

  • @zdisturbed8 You seem like a northerner... Don't you wish those crazy southerners lived in their own seperate nation...?

  • Love the video!

  • REBEL YELL, THE SOUTH WILL RISE AGAIN

  • @rabbit2795 and do what succed from the union you fucking idiot?

  • @rabbit2795 oh shut the fuck up.

  • @rabbit2795 i hope your not referring to secession

  • Comment removed

  • @rabbit2795 Sorry but the South will not rise again, why would America split now? That'd just be dumb dude.

  • Sounds like a pack of wild poodles.

  • @doodiethief hahahahahaha that just made my day dude

  • AHAHAHAHA HELL YEAH!!! Thats the rebel charge even today in the reenactments!

  • holy shit ,if i heard that sound ,if i was a union soilder just waking up , i would have shit my pants..............my pants would be brown, not blue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • will you guys quit arguing about this? it happened 150 years ago!

and i swear if some srsfag says ANYTHING about racism, i will hunt them down. the civil war never happened due to slavery, & the emancipation proclamation was actually designed to destroy the southern economy, not free people.

even though thats what it should have been for...

  • @JellyBelly9797

Sorry dude, but slavery had a HUGE part to play in the Civil War. Was it the ONLY reason the Southern States decided to succeed? No, but it was almost assuredly the main reason. The southern states feared Lincoln would prohibit the growth of slavery in new territories, and therefore water down the votes and concerns of southern slave-states. Was slavery the only issue? No. Was it the driving issue? I believe so.

  • @BiggieB99

Of course, once the "rebellion" started, it became more than a slavery issue, and in many cases became a defense of the homeland issue. My home state of North Carolina sacrificed more soldiers than any other southern state, and it wasn't (solely) because of slavery, it was in defense of our home state, in defense of our homes, our ancestral lands.

  • @BiggieB99 my point is it had little to do with it. the war was caused mostly by economic issues. slavery had almost nothing to do with why it was caused.

and yes, the emancipation proclaimation was meant to destroy southern economy by taking away the workforce.

  • @BiggieB99

Actually any historian will tell you that the main reason behind the Civil War was state's rights vs federal authority.

  • @Cornbredproductions Actually, any historian and anyone who's ever read the South's own Cornerstone Speech and declarations of secession will tell you that the main reason behind the War of Southern Aggression was slavery. The South's own Mississippi, Texas, Georgia, and South Carolina declarations of secession cited "slave" and "slavery" a whopping 82 separate times, but "state's rights" not even once. You should read them sometime.

  • and also you would shit your pants if you were in that situation: hearing all of those men screaming, knowing they're coming to kill you, also, they all had the same type of weapons, muzzle loaded weapons

  • you people just need to quit hating each other, we're all Americans, brothers and sisters, I'm from Mississippi, we lost, its over, I don't agree with some people sayin the north just straigt kicked ass, 50 thousand more union soldiers died than confederate soldiers, I have a lot of yankee friends and I love them, read your history books more closely

  • sounds like my old computer before i put it in the garbage

  • >mfw I hail from the GREAT SouthWest..Nevada,Arizona,Utah,Colorado ect. umad Southernfags?

  • @locolalo1364 u raggin?

  • @FastPonyGT nope, but I do know that the Mojave is greater than the shitty Mississippi swamps...

  • @locolalo1364 But not as shitty as a Nevada meat sock. You "backed" up perfectly into that one. LMAO!

  • Excellent voice however I can not see picture.

  • 150 years later, if the rednecks had learned to create an industrial society rather than one built on agriculture, they may have had better weapons and not relied on simply yelling at their enemy. LOL

  • wow that was spine chilling those boys sure were crazy

  • lol ignorant racists.

  • @chiefs91HALI SHUT the FUCK up.

  • @FootballFanatic960 Obviously You're too stupid to realize that ignorant isn't an insult. Ignorant means ill-informed.

  • @daisymae Yankees suck, do they not?

  • too bad the rebel troups are not around today to storm the White House and kick out all the idiots who are ruining the country....

  • @Lee05211 EXACTLY!!!!!

  • @Lee05211 It's not the White house, Obama's actually a good man. So are a good deal of a Cabinet. It's the Senate and House. The Senate and House are full of Thieves, Pick pockets, and horribly Corrupt Bastards.

  • @cika1234 Yeah Obama might be a good man.... the type of guy you want to go have a beer with. But for him to have been catapulted into the Presidency by the corrupt corporate machine that funds the lame stream media sellouts, was a complete ponzi scheme. The guy has NO EXPERIENCE business or otherwise and his adoption of the economical keynesian theory has failed miserably. I want a guy, nice or not that will spin us out of this abysmal sitauation we find ourselves in.

  • @Lee05211 Well said sir.

  • i have to tell you the South right now is the closest thing we have too the America that our founding fathers wanted

  • no wonder the south slaughter the north in just about every battle

  • Thanks for posting. This sounds so much like the 3-part red fox cry. (They have a wide range of calls, so you may not find exactly this call on YouTube, but I've heard it in the woods.) I've read descriptions of the rebel yell as being either like Indians or an old Irish/Scots battle cry, but there's no reason why all these groups wouldn't have imitated a fox cry, which never fails to make one jump out of one's skin.

In short, I'm convinced that this is the real deal.

  • Go ahead, Yell at me southeners, it's not gonna work when a bayonette pierces your lung.

Lol jk, but my ancestor was a northener in the civil war, and SUPPOSEDLY he was in a newspaper article, in which he said something along the lines of that. He died from schrapnel in the chest.

  • The Billy Idol version was better.

  • sounds like a bunch of retarded dogs lol fuck you scumbags waste of life

  • @FIAZCOO you are a lowlife moron

  • fucl all redneck inbreds in the south!!!! and anywhere! burn in hell ugly buck tooth sons of a fatass bitches

  • @FIAZCOO why dont you say that to someone who really truly grew up in the south. Maybe not even twenty or thirty miles away from where the damn Yankees and our beautiful Rebels actually fought. Oh lets just say Shiloh Tennessee, that is where I'm from. And let me tell you something JACKASS, sneak in the park around 2 or 3 in the morning around the forth of July. You can actually smell smoke, and gunpowder, and feel like there is someone grabbing your arm, when you are by yourself. Jackass

  • @DaisyMae10122010 Maybe youll understand me clear if i sturt talkeen like this.. i dont give a whoopdido bout no god damn rebel soldiers they are burning in hell. and aint no one touching your arm at 2 in the morning bitch. thats all in your mind

  • @FIAZCOO if you say so, but i know the truth, your just pissed off that some rebel soldier possibly killed one of you ancestor's. and yes i know im a bitch and im proud of it(:

  • @DaisyMae10122010 lol well i know for a fact a handful of yours were murdered and are currently burning in hell. who lost? you on your period whore?

  • @FIAZCOO no im not on my period actually that was last week if you must know. And im not a whore thank you very much, my sister is one but im not.

  • @DaisyMae10122010 well id love to bone the shit out of you!

  • @FIAZCOO I'm sure you would(:

  • @DaisyMae10122010 id even eat your pussy too :)

  • @FIAZCOO and I'd make sure i gave you a good hard kick in the face

  • FUCK THE NORTH, WHERE ARE MY SLAVES

  • the confederates were the only real americans.

  • @The20GEORGIA Amen brother

  • @The20GEORGIA No the fucking were not, the confederates were barbaric at best. Your fucking rebel yell sounds like a yappie little dog being kicked in the ribs. Anyone who was in the confederate army or who still sympathises with the confederates is a backwards, bigoted, racist idiot.

  • @Liddlelegrande What a little bitch! You feel safe talking shit on the internet don't you? Why don't you go read the responses of Yankee soldiers running like hell? Or better yet, why don't you come on down to Texas and TRY to talk shit on the South in public you dickless bitch? Are you even from America?

  • @INbredMonarchy Gun owning, taxpaying, proud American sir, last time I went down to El Paso and Conroe there were more Mexicans than racist white fucks like you. I openly display my disdain for people like you who think that Texas is the greatest state in the country.

  • @Liddlelegrande When you say"Mexicans"are you referring to all the ILLEGAL"immigrants"out here?LOL!

I'm not entirely sure what state you're from,or even if you are an American, but I'll tell you this much;I've seen all four corners of this country.I was born in Alabama,my brother was born in Pennsylvania,I've lived in Washington,Utah,Florida,Ukraine,Germany, and Texas. The South is the best BY FAR.I've never seen ANYTHING shittier than California.Texas' economy keeps us all stable right now.

  • @Liddlelegrande Takes a bigot to know one, doesn't it? BTW, the term "racist" wasn't even coined until the 20th century and was intended only to be used as weapon against anyone that the communists knew they could never win an argument against. Notice how often it is used by venom dripping liberals and other self-righteous haters... Just. Like. You.

  • @40AcreMule Are you familiar with the three fourths compromise? If net then you should know that is was a compromise passed for southern states saying that a black slave was worth three fourths of a white man. Southerners held onto this idea that black men were less human than white men. Racism is general discrimination against someone who is different than oneself. Thought the word is recent the meaning and act remains the same and there is nothing to avoid it.

  • @Liddlelegrande So if im a "racist" and you don't like me than by your own definition YOU ARE A RACIST against me which make you either a hypocrite or most likely a New York liberal white woman married to a black man cause she believed the propaganda of big black cock started by welfare crack addict negros, and if Mo knew back then that blacks wouldn't even be be half the men white guys are it would have been called the 1/16th compromise ! But votes count to rich people

  • @TheDeKLiNe0FMaN I do not find you inferior to me in any way. I think that as a two men we are equal. We have equal right to employment, speech, the right to keep and bear arm and the right to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. No matter what your skin color is, you are in no way inferior to me. So no I am in no way racist toward you.

  • @TheDeKLiNe0FMaN As a human being in no way are blacks inferior to you or I. You both have a heart, flesh and a brain. So I am not quite sure how levels of melanin are deal breakers in terms human superiority or inferiority. Other than our levels of melanin you are no different from a black man.

  • @Liddlelegrande You must not know that much about the civil war, most confederate

soldiers and southerners didn't own slaves and didnt have anything against them.

Most confederates were just fighting for there homes and there way of life.
