While this song is awesome, does anyone else kinda hope it's not actually the main theme? It'd be a nice song for a cutscene or to play sometime during the menu, but it just doesn't seem powerful enough to be the main theme.

Compare it to Nate's Theme from Uncharted to see what I mean.

When you start up any Uncharted game, that pumping theme gets you in the zone and makes you feel like an adventurer immediately.

This theme just seems too subtle to produce the same effect.

@surfnsantacruz the difference between this game and uncharted is that the last of us is NOT an action game, naughty dog insist in the dramatic and emotional feeling they are trying to put in this game. instead of being just another game about monsters and zombies that you have to kill, they are going for a game were the center of the story are the survivors and the relations between them. sorry for my english, i'm from argentina

I'm not necessarily asking for a booming action soundtrack, just something a bit more memorable. My issue is that unless I've listened to this song recently, I can't remember how it goes, and for that reason I can't see it being the defining song of the game.

I think it's because this song presents more of a rhythm than a melody.

I'm sure others think otherwise however.

@surfnsantacruz Yes, but you're comparing "This heroic man will climb a mountain and get the gold!" to "Survival and death are a matter of split-second actions." This music combined with ruin porn (Google it, I'm not referring to sex at all; it's photography about modern-day buildings pretty much turned into old, run-down landscapes full of over-grown vegetation), creates the sense of loss and hopelessness that the game is trying to imply. I assume the game will seem barren, which fits the song.

Why bother surviving, scrounging for scraps and being forced to murder other surviving assholes, when you can be an infected zombie instead? Roaming all day; eat whenever/whatever and still never go hungry; no taxes to pay; don't have to wake up early for work; you're not liable for your actions; plus you're part of the vast majority; And the only way you can die is to get murdered, but even then you probably won't see it coming and probably won't even care if and when it happens.

After they stated that this would have a huge focus on character relationships, many people claimed Naughty Dog's Uncharted characters and story kinda sucked.

Sure, they're not the deepest characters, but they definitely have the most personality out of any game character I've seen. I trust Naughty Dog's ability to create lovable characters like that and make their stories more exciting and mysterious. This game will be phenomenal, no doubt about it.
