I am all about protesting for rights, justice, and freedom, but this protest seemed a bit silly. I realize that many college students are coming into their own and finding what they are passionate about, but 1. Protesting budget cuts and tuition increases doesn't get you anywhere. 2. Screaming "Peaceful Protest" is not PEACEFUL. 3. If protesting and asked to leave the property, you have to leave if it is not public property. Even if it's a public college, it's not public property.
If these morons want to protest anything, they should have gone to the State Capitol. The people that work in the university system have no control over salaries, tuition costs etc. The state of WI is in charge of that. Blame them instead. Idiots.
fuck police, that being said, you should get things done through the system, over time, be smart like "they" are, you dont see the leaders of big banks screaming out on the streets, shit get inside and work the maggots
okay its a peaceful protest but things were being thrown at the police? smh they should know by now that you can't touch an officer let alone throw things at them and act all suprised when you get arrested. think people. you have a brain use it for good.
The funny thing is that they were protesting outside the chancellor's office...the chancellor has no control over tuition rates. it's the board of regents who raise/lower tuition
If you join a crowd like this, chances are some asshole is gonna do something illegal, like throw or break shit and you're going to be blamed. It's just what happens when you join the mob to do something like this. No one is to blame except the asshole who started it. It's not fair to the police or the protesters, but it's ALWAYS what happens.
So does everyone else once they get called on it :D
UWM has raised tuition more times in the past 15 years than they had in the entire 39 years prior to that (when they became part of the UW system). If that doesn't bother you, then more power to ya... but don't start in with a bunch of knee-jerk reactionary garbage just because you don't like the fact that people are (correctly) pointing out that there's something wrong about that.
@NykSolas Government subsidized student loans have allowed colleges to keep increasing tuition. If you don't want college tuition to keep going up, get the government out of providing guaranteed student loans.
Why don't YOU get a life you over-privileged apologist and stop talking shyt on people who actually care about their rights. Not all of us can just use daddy's money to bail us out of whatever problems we run into (like, say, unnecessary tuition hikes).
so did anyone actually hit a cop w/ a snowball? B/c I wasn't there, thus I am not acting as though I was....but last time I checked, if you throw anything at a cop....he's going to arrest you....
@theteamname yeah i feel bad for the cops too. i like how it says the cops were attacking students. i was there watching, they never attacked anyone, they were careful with what they were doing the whole time
SDS ("red diaper babies") was looking for public attention. By their actions, throwing snowballs etc., they got the attention they wanted as part of a concerted nationwide plan to draw sympathy to their cause. Unfortunately they came off looking like the "red diaper" babies they are.
hey hippie outcast, FUCK YOU! i was there - in fact thats me in the coat with my black hoody up. the "police" arrested this couple you see here, the guy and the girl - because they threw snowballs at the building. Does that warrant an arrest? as you can hear, we were just asking these cops to let them go - just let them go. they created the situation by trying to arrest a young couple for throwing snowballs at a builind, and no thats not justified. so we took action.
@blackflagdanny they probably arrested them for being retards. Yeah good idea, act like retarded animals to get your point across, throw snowballs at a building. how stupid is that
if your going to have a 1 min video that dont put it on have like a 10 min

UWM, however, has no tolerance when speech is replaced with violence.
That is what happened yesterday on our campus when several individuals
-- some who are our students and others who are not - punched and
kicked, and threw ice chunks and snowballs at UWM Police Officers who
were engaged in their duty of safeguarding university people and
property. One UWM Officer suffered a leg injury during the demonstration.
^ that is why they got arrested. peaceful protest my ass
