i own this guitar, it is PERFECT! Pickups are strong and quiet, neck is good for shreeding, color is beautyfull. Guitar gives its best with earnie ball strings. Definetly best sevenstring for its price.
@ouija93 Totally agree with you, ive got this guitar, first of all it is BEAUTIFUL! really! its heavy (full wood), machine heads are great, really sensitive but hold tune, neck is (for me) just right, not like the Ibanez wizard, but still not too fat! :) the only thing i would and will change are the pickups. i mean they are fat but passive. does any1 know is it possible to put active's in it somehow?
any who, great guitar for its price and class id give 4.5 / 5
@yoimer06 i agree, the HZ's sound like shit however dont knock passives because of those because a DiMarzio X2N7 can absolutely take, rape and destroy a 707, 81-7, 85-7, 60-7 or any other EMG any day. it gets more gain AND its tighter and sounds better. and cheaper
@ouija93 Yea but it won't look good. And the pickup tabs (where you screw it down) are wider then the EMG sized pickup route. So if i were you, I'd save the extra $20 and get the EMG sized Seymour Duncan Blackouts.
@lymangilly I have a painkiller in my RG565 and I like the tone of my D-Activator more HOWEVER I've never had a clearer, tighter, cleaner pickup then that painkiller
@freddy692000 I got the Elite 7 a month ago and I'm really really happy with it! I bought it of Ebay and with the shipping costs to Sweden + Customs costs I got it for about 580$ !
@ironfist133 im going for the cheaper version of the schecter range, Demon-7 i played it AND this one in the store TODAY and im going for the demon because imo it sounds better, feels better, looks better and well the price is defenatly better on your wallett
hey i need help to get this guitar and put blackouts in it or emgs or buy the schecter damien elite that has 81 85 in it already for 50 bucks more and both are same wood and both 7 strings??? any help??
@metaljunkie209 the elite has a mahogany body so its lighter than this one which is basswood. and this guitar has emg hz-a pickups which arent tooo great, but not bad. i recommend the elite.
I played one at guitar center and this is most probably going to be my next axe the string through induced sustain is awesome and the tone is killer clean and dirty and i know once i throw the tweaks in [new strings, trussrod, action, intonation adjustments] i will grow to luv this beast.
Wow, you really did a clinic on how to make that amp sound bad. Would you mind sharing your settings with us so we can better understand what NOT to do???
the tone is horrible. it reminds of the line 6 spider 3 which i detest so much. i tried it out though, it's a great guitar. i just think that tube amp needs to be turned up louder for obvious reasons.
to adjust the action is to raise or lower the height of your bridge, the lower the action, the closer the strings are to the fretboard, bring the action as low as possible without any fret-buzz (minimum action) and raise it or keep it the same height for your preference, i keep my action as low as possible because i find it helps me play quicker :)
are these the stock pickups? im getting a damien 7 soon and i was thinking of switching the pups to a seymour duncan invader and a dimarzio air norton maybe. i might wait cuz they sound pretty good right now
@Simen0303 well i use just normal 7 string packages and let your fingers get used to the tightness and then you can freeekin fly up and down the fretboard
So there are really no other things I should know thats different, I mean, it is a barritone guitar, "normal" scale one a 7 string is 25,5", this one is 26,5", something I should know about that?
@Simen0303 its really no different man, i have it and i love it, its just like a regular guitar with one extra string, i use it just like the other ones, and about the scale it honestly doesn't make a whole lot of difference it still plays well
Also, your reach will be shortened possibly. Depending on which way they scale it longer. For example, my Gibson is a 24.75 scale. My Ibanez is 25.5. My first fret on the Gibson is actually the 3rd fret on the Ibanez if that makes sense. So the stretch is longer on the Ibanez than it is on the Gibson. Now this is the most common way of achieving a longer scale. You make the neck longer. If you have a 24.75 and a 25.5 inch scale guitar compare the space between frets. You will understand.
@12thefool was just thinking the same thing, the riff around 0:17 really craps out. sounds like puking. To bad, it shouldn't be a problem getting a good sound out of a savage.
actives will be more accurate and precise sounding throughout all frequencies, but since the human ear didn't develop to pick up an even, accurate perception of sound passive will sound more natural.
I saw this guitar at Guitar Center a few times and each time I had to sit down and play it till finally I bought it, it is an awesome guitar for the price. I love it. I have 3 other guitars and my Schecter Damien is by far my favorite guitar.
if you like the damien you should really try the C-7 hellraiser, i had been dying to play a schecter 7 string and i just had to play it,after about a year later (now) i finnally bought mine, heavy as hell man u should really try it
I got this guitar some while ago. Designwise it's a real beauty with that matt black finish. I got mine fitted with a couple of Seymour Duncans and am happy with the sound now. Still have to get used to the larger scale though.
The only thing that could be improved with the Damien imho is access to the higher notes. The cutaway should have been cut like 5 mm further into the body. Soloing frets 23 and 24 kinda starts to hurt the back of my hands´.

Simen0303 2 years ago
the longer scale will stretch your strings out more, allowing you to use thinner strings
a 25,5 scale will need thicker strings if you are tuning to drop a or something
so all in all i think having a longer scale is better
you strings wont sound as floppy, you will have more clarity
supapuffy2007 2 years ago
Thank you man!
Simen0303 2 years ago

smaller strings actually.
larger scale = tighter strings.
larger strings = tighter strings.
so you would be doing 2+2=5. overkill, in other words.

passive version of the emg 81 active i believe
metalheadblues 2 years ago
sorry for being a noob but what does passive mean for pick ups?
BlackWentel 2 years ago
active pickups require a battery, passives dont.
actives will be more accurate and precise sounding throughout all frequencies, but since the human ear didn't develop to pick up an even, accurate perception of sound passive will sound more natural.
so accurate doesn't necessarily equal natural.
bringthemead 2 years ago
Alright I get it, thanks :D

passive means they pickups are not powered by a 9v battery.
