I consider myself very lucky to be a kid of the 80's.
I was 10 years old when I saw Big Trouble. As a young, imaginative kid...it had such an impact on me - the characters, the visuals, the music, the sounds. Even at that age I knew I was watching something special. Fast forward 25 years and its still one of my favourite films. I recently bought a limited edition (only 3000 copies) soundtrack CD to the film. I love Carpenter's stories, direction and music.
This is one of my favorite movies of all time along with The Adventures of Buckaroo Bonji. Notice the young HOT Kim Canttrell be fefore her Sex In The City fame.
I know, loved it since i was 7 back in 88 when i saw it on HBO with my family and one of my fave fantasy movies. Gotta love it when Thunder inflates and gotta love that Hairy Chinese wildman creature who looks like a wookie with a stroak and that lovable eyeball sphere Guardian.
The problem with hollywood these days that all i good idea's have been done and now there trying to make movie's the people don't know wo is in it and what is it about anybody can be in a movie, will it my money well that the-?-you can make a movie and it will not make no money at all, only in time can tell if something good comes up.
@1131982vincent Hollywood is so wooden and soulless. John Carpenter has always veered away from that and made great cult movies that he WANTED to make. I really respect this guy because he loves movies, and kind of rebelled against the system.
They don't make cool fun adventure movies like this anymore. Everything's about Spies and death and horrific plots. No funny mythology movies or light hearted action adventures with unique stories. The World has changed.
@Johnlindsey289 There was an attempt to make a cross over comic book to show the continued adventures of Jack Burton. Its rare and I have tried to look it up on torrents.
@ACDCISCOOLNESS huh, every movie coming out now especially this summer is some light hearted comedy adventure movie, its that today movies are lame and predictable with no likable characters.
@ACDCISCOOLNESS They said they are going to remake big trouble in little china, the lead is going to be Will Smith, and he is going to be in Korea fighting for human rights against Kim Jung Pan with jackie chan as Egg Shen.. they said that they didnt wanna change the name cause they knew it would be more popular like that.. kinda like how they (remade) the Karate kid... with him in China.. learning Kung Fu...
@ACDCISCOOLNESS Unfortunately u're right and yet there are media, like games, where this kind of advs are very much developed. Hopefully, this trend will come up again in movie making. Sure enough we need very good screen writers and most of all actors/ress who wish to be engaged by self irony. Cross fingers!
@ACDCISCOOLNESS Check out "Dylan Dog: Dead of Night" and "The Green Hornet". Fun sci-fi/action-adventure movies that don't take themselves too seriously.
Both he and Kurt Russell want to but because it didnt do well at the box office motion picture companies are refusing though they said they were thinking making a tv series or tv movie.
