Great control and lovely tone at the top. A note on backing tracks: if you don't belt, look for something a little less brass heavy (the trumpets "razz" will dominate otherwise). Great job.
@Medoway ah thank you that's actually very helpful, i often make the backing tracks my self (not this one though) but it will help when i mix the track in post, duly noted thanks ;)
@CrazyBlonde2393 ah thank you, I'm not on the stage at moment because I'm between jobs, but I do make most of money from stage work, will hopefully be back on stage soon, but thank you ;)
Can you please become a professional? Like seriously? I had chills the entire time! I am a singer myself and I could NEVER sound this magnificent even if I tried! Please, for me and all other people like me, don't ever give up on singing! :)
i personally love the mix of head and chest voice. it sounds very warm. just a little more chest voice in the last note (i know it's tough, but you can do it) and it's just right. this song is seriously perfect for you, good luck with all your future auditions:)
@lucy0loves0music belting causes tension in the tongue and larynx meaning you may not be able to do floating high notes, and technically belting belting is shouting in you head voice, meaning your not breathing and slamming you vocal cords together, so in terms of technique it's the opposite of singing and can be quite damaging if you want to peruse a career as a classical singing, but also if i'm honest i'm not a huge fan of the sound but each to there own ;)
@littellotte -.-" you know, back in time I commented on a video about a horrible screaming of a now famous person and somebody made me look very stupid by saying "she was belting, not screaming", but I meant to say screaming because it was really horrible... anyway, do you mean opera? but I thought opera singers belted all the time on those difficult songs? or do you mean you prefer a technique and a career like Hayley Westenra?
@lucy0loves0music no opera singers never never belt, all notes are supported by all mussels from the hips to the head and breath, were as belting is just shouting without air and anchoring (tensing) the mussels, which is fine if you do it properly, but as i said if you want to float a top E, it properly won't work in your favor in long run. Hayley westenra is pop classical (sorry i know that sounds really snobby)... cont
@lucy0loves0music (part 2) meaning her onset is breathier than opera, she also doesn't have tick fold Vittorio and slurs, were as opera singers (even is light lyrical) have a clear onset in terms of air flow, Westerner is also a Mezzo, so her range is lower than a sorprno, also mezzo because there voices take longer to mature tend not debut till later in life
@littellotte oh no that's okay, I always appreciate when people tell me their own opinion and explain things to me :) I'm not a big fan of Hayley nor I dislike her (I know she's pop classical, it's not snobby), but I used her as an example because I was trying to understand your style... First I thought pop, then you mentioned classical, so I thought pop classical xD I loved your rendition of Part of your world! Wish you all the best :)
@littellotte hey, as long as people use connected belting and not raw belting i'm good. connected is when you still use your diaphragm, like most broadway singers. raw belting is just yelling, and it's for amateurs
@hamletisastud yes that's true, but as I said it depends on what you want to do in the long term, if like me, the choice is to a classical soprano, therefore wanting still sounding vocally healthy and being able to float top e's and highers in to my 50's and 60's then belting all the time is not an option for, so my aim id to do opera/ traditional musicals that require a certain sound, but if you want to do more contemporary ... cont
@hamletisastud (part 2) MT then as long as you are doing every thing right, that's fine, it just depends what you want to do, i have no problem with belting in general, it's just no for me ;)
See, I like the breathy beginning because it sounds wistful. This isn't just a song; you are an actress. Classical training is wonderful, but you don't always need to follow all of the rules sometimes.
@SuperBroadwayNerd see i don't like the end because I'm pressing! ha ha, yes breathy onset was a big problem for me, it was mainly because I'm quite small and i have a very young face, i'm often cast in child roles and obvs breathyness can make you sound younger, but my singing teacher has obliterated that out of me now, check out my newer stuff, ;)
@fairytalelover6 thanks! no, my name is charlotte aka lotte, the reason the L and the E are wrong way round is that im dyslexic, it wasn't until i read the book at 13 it realized it was from phantom, by which time i was already using it as a username :)
@littellotte COOL! Well, I love Disney stuff so let's see...I See the Light, the reprise for When Will my life begin, Belle Reprise, Reflection....Hmmm. Defying Gravity is a beautiful song too. Anything from Phantom....Wow, I think of a million great songs becuase you're a soprano.
Anyway, I saw that you loved Little Mermaid when you were little, which is cool because it literally was my fave movie when I was a little girl too.
@fairytalelover6 yes! TLM will forever be my favorite film of all time, i kid you not i could could sing the ah-ah-ah's before I could talk , i used to watch it every after i got home from play school while eating peanutbutter sandwiches, it drove my mum mad! i'll see what i do with the songs you've requested! ;)
@littellotte that's really neat. I watched it all the time when I was little too, but my own mom didn't like the movie because Ariel disobeyed her father. LOL.
@dede25diane thanks! My first and greatest tip is to get a singing teacher, i know they can be expensive, but singing is like doing triple somersaults but instead of your body flipping it your vocal cords, and just like if you land badly doing a somersault, you could do major damage to your voice if you doing something technically wrong... cont
@dede25diane (part two) but basically you need to be standing in alignment when you sing, feet hip width apart, nees soft, shoulders relaxed, and that will help you greatly, i suggest maybe reading a book on Alexandra technique or finding your voice by Barbara Houseman, both are for spoken voice, but the same rules apply, the thing is, the good thing about having a teacher is somtimes you might think you doing somthing right but (cont)
@dede25diane (part 3) if you doing it wrong, it can be very hard to brake those habits because of muscle memory. Also i terms of hitting high notes, it also a case of natural range, I'm very lucky that I naturally have a decent range, as i said the right teacher you can expand on this, the key is to make sure you sound is always supported you prop warmed up
@dede25diane (part 4) and not to press and to make sure you soft pallet is up, I hope that helps i know it's a bit of lecture, but thank you for watching ;)
Im OBSESSED with your voice... usually its really disapointing when the pictures of the real cast are just youtube singers... but not at all this time... you couldve been the real ariel girl...
OMG, just returned to this video, because wanted to find out who was the singer of this and where to find more songs of her. Very beautiful. Congrats.
This makes me wonder why Miley Cyrus is famous and rich, yet butchered the song... and you sing it perfectly, with so much feeling that it brought tears into my eyes, and you're not famous, or are you? You should be.
All I can say is WOW! You have a great voice and did a really goog job here. Keep doing this, work a little bit on the energy, and you're gonna be fantastic! :)
@littellotte Oh okay. Thanks. She's an amazing Ariel! Even better than Sierra, dare I say it. You're an awesome singer, by the way. Your voice is very clear and easy to understand. :)
@DisneyJAM0670 i wasn't such a fan of Chelsea, i think coze she mixes all the time, which is grate for other roles the whole mix/ belt thing all the time is too much for Ariel, and what i love about sierra is she actually a soprano, as supposed to so meny MT singers who are like 'i'm soprano' and cant even get above the stave! he he any ways each to there own, thanks for your nice comments, i thinking about doing this again, as i think this sound really bad now! he he ;)
@littellotte Well, I meant that she looks more like Ariel than Sierra did haha. I haven't been able to find any videos of Chelsea singing as Ariel, so I can't really compare the two.
Also, you hit those last couple notes really well! I always listen for those last couple notes of "Part of your world" when people cover this song. Great job!
@HauntedLighthouses he he thanks, makes sense i watched the movie every day from the age of two till five, i would get home from play school and wacht it while eating fish shaped peanut butter sandwiches, it drove my mum crazy!
Keep your eyes peeled for updates. Rumor has it Disney is planning on a London production soon. It maybe just a rumor, but it never hurts to be prepared. My only piece of advice to you is put a little more breath under "Watch and you'll see". Obviously for a soprano the lower notes are difficult to reach. But it's very easy to be drowned out by the music. So try to project on that a little more. Otheriwse you've got it! If Disney is crazy enough to hire Chelsea Stock, you're a shoe in! :)
@littellotte Your welcome. Tell me though, what are you not pleased with? Maybe I can help. Even if I don't hear it. Trust me. I can be very critical if not harsh when I'm not pleased with the technique. Just look at the reviews I gave Chesea. I don't hold back! Sometimes even Sierra can't escape my wrath. Haha.
@EmmyIsFat eer you're joking right? if not you can clearly tell it's me :l one, because im singing to a backing tack, two, my onset in in this is way more breathy the sierra's, three some times my vowels are slightly more moderated and English eg. when, how, but I... also look at my other videos
@littellotte My computer is a POS. so I don't have the patience, I beleive you though, when I first listened it was without earphones so I couldn't really hear detail, but I listened with earphones and I noticed the difference. You do sound like Sierra! You're very good :)
Theyre gonna redo the musical for the european stage, focusing more on an adult audience. The new version is gonna focus more on the relationship between ariel and her father and the mutual love between ariel and Eric. Alan Menken is even writing two new songs for it!
Gotta love Stage Entertainment for revamping the Little Mermaid. It was good, but it couldve been great. Now it might be, just like they did with Tarzan!
Honestly, I usually hate listening to covers on youtube, but you're absolutely amazing! There's an innocence in your voice that just captures Ariel perfectly. Good job :)
omg wow, i got chills <3 absolutely beautiful <3 and this is coming from a disney fiend <3

Good job :)
