Thank you for you input! :) I got the Parelli training DVD's level 1 through 4 for Christmas, and I cannot wait to start working with my horses when summer comes.
Does parelli horsemanship make your horse more responsive and refined under saddle, or just more trusting on ground? Would you recommend parelli horsemanship for competition horses? Or just for pleasure horses?
Great questions! Yes it does because the horse starts mirroring you where one day your thought turns into his response. I compete in reining and I use the Parelli Program to build a great foundation with all my horses.
But im not being mean, is there a point to this? Because i dont have string halters and a carrot stick but my pony will still follow me and we have a real bond, i jumped him bareback 1.20m in a headcollar. So why do i need to have all this stuff? I think parelli is a big money scam tbh. £39 for a long rope. Whats wrong iwth a lungeline.
As i say im not critisising but could somebody tell me why you need to spend so much please??
No need to spend all the money on carrot sticks and rope halters... Its just a style of training, as there are many... Take the concepts of anything any one has to teach you and conform it to work for you. As you will find in the horse world every one has a different opinion and every one is right. I take what i like from each person and apply it when needed and have found there really are no rights or wrongs because every horse reacts differently to different training methods...

@daisyappleby I practice similar techniques to Parelli, I found cheaper rope halters, cheaper rope lines, and I use a regular schooling whip :)
