@beatboxbenton626 I trust your post will encourage conversation. One wants something that will encourage conversation, particularly at the end of the season when every one has practically said whatever they had to say, which, in most cases, was probably not much.
the trailer sucks compaired to the movie! the movie is so freaking good. my drama class watched it today. we are doing Importance for our next play and im Cecily!
I may be a woman but in my English class I made a damn good Algy. XDD Me and my friend Randy (who played Jack) tore that play apart with our awesomeness!
@sweetkagome99 Seriously? Gwendolen only has 103 lines. I'm performing as her next weekend. She's only an average part. Wait until you get roles that have 300 or more lines. That's a challenge!
eeeek... i'm probably one of the 2% of women who find colin firth not all that, Everett as Jack, perfect, just as i imagined what Jack would look like but Firth as Algernon...they should have gotten someone else. btw the way, the men are supposed to be in their late 20s...it really irritates me when the casting not done properley...if a new adaptation was to be made then Ben Barnes would make a good Jack and Hugh Dancy as Algernon.
@WeirdMaRy91 ha, what a silly mistake! i haven't watched it yet but in that case Firth seems a better choice for Jack and i can imagine Everett acting brilliantly as Algernon.
@stupidintellect90 =) don't worry!!! well, Rupert Everett IS The Perfect Dandy... it seems acting as Algy is almost natural for him... I love his work in Earnest... he's wonderful!! and Firth does a briliant work as Jack, making the character shy, and sweet =) i admit i haven't wached other movie versions of Earnest, so i can't say if there's something better than this movie! have you watched another movie??
anyway, if you have time, watch this one, 90 mins of funny movie at least =)=)
My high school is putting on a production of this play and I'm so excited to be a part of this! This is wonderful and I appreciate the trailer to get a taste of it. Thanks so much!
How true is this film to the play? My girlfriend is very much into Oscar Wilde and I would like to watch this with her, but only if it's not too far removed from the original.

This updated version is disappointing. Throw in some rap music and it would have been complete. If you're going to bastardize a classic, call it by another name.
I read play book in my theater arts class..that was one of in class things to do then did a night of scenes..as final..we all had our make up short and then pick scene to this!...OH ALSO DID DOLL HOUSE TOO! I LOVE THIS!
Yesterday, I watched really dreadful version of this in the theatre. So I was logically really very much pleased to see this film. I loved it and laughed all the time. The actors are perfect!
And the beginning about wild or Wilde England is good ;-)
Damn, I hate modern adaptations in which they cut up scenes, change the locations constantly and add a lot of predictable slapstick to it. The 1952 adaptation is so much better!
I somehow imagined Colin Firth to be Algernon, not Jack... Don't know, it seems to fit him better. But then again I imagined Gwendolen to be blonde and Cecily to have dark hair, so it was all completely different ^^
@Chiswick2 The play is set in England and as far as I know written in England, so technically I think it's an English play. I mean, Samuel Beckett was Irish too, but would you call "Waiting for Godot" an Irish play?
no it's not new, actually... It's a 2002 movie, .. I watched it in DVD last evening, and i loved it so much (also because fo my new Colin Firth obsession =) ) i decided to upload the trailer, because i couldn't found a good one on youtube =)
Why use 'Mr Action Movie' for the voice on this trailer?

@videoclog This adaptation does use a lot of the full extended text though. It's quite interesting reading the two different versions.
