  • @BlueStripedCurtains Yes it is.

  • Can someone please explain why BBC has State of Decay, Planet of the Spiders, Full Circle, The Awakening, The Twin Dilema, and The Masque of Mandragora blocked in the US? Come on BBC, show some respect to the American fans! Thumbs up if you agree!

  • It was The Doctor's turn to hide behind the couch.

  • BBC IS AWESOME FOR DOING THIS!

  • The alien official "Kalik" is Michael Wisher who went on to play Davros in Genesis of the Daleks a couple of seasons later.

  • coolness awww

  • cheryl hall was, and probably still is - beautiful

  • Nice outfits! Not!

  • @WhoSoundFX Vauguely, they just wanted a reason to put loads of monsters in a stage show.

  • I love you BBC! I've never said that to a television network before, but....it doesn't feel awkward at all. :)

  • Evil Harry.

  • except for the ones who erased the tapes in the 70's,thank you BBC.

  • 2:27 - Wow! A light-up tuning fork!

  • 0:00-0:30--The beginning theme was kind of psychedelic!

  • Every time I click on BBCWorldwideTV it says channel doesn't exist.

  • i think this is the first time we see something familiar to a "parception filter"

  • wait so is the whole doctor who series on youtube by BBC?

  • 00:55 christmas already

  • a big thank you to whom ever put these on hope you put on more.. love watching these with the kids ,,think it keeps dr who alivelol would be a shame to have forgotton all the classics ,keep putting them on please :D

  • at 11:49 he calls that girl a monstrous beast =D

  • 2:34 AWSOME effect!! I love John Pertwee's Doctor, one of my faves.

  • That ending was a STOTTER! I'm going backwards - I'd rather watch all these old ones than the new one - this is heaps better!

  • why do the BBC put adverts up when we have to pay our licence fee?

    cock suckers!!1

  • First Episode of Doctor Who I ever saw!! Ever since I've been hooked!

  • @darklingbrenos i like the masks " alien heads"

  • keeps malfunctioning on my computer! It just plays the damn commercials and shuts off or shuts off half way through the episode. At least when people were uploading them in ten minute chunks they played through properly!

  • Finally! I guess Auntie Beeb got tired of making Youtube zap the fan posts. Great job!

  • great episode. Early prediction of Virtual reality, SIMs and A.I.

  • I loved the big hand-it scared the crap out of me when i was a kid!-John Pertwee was a superb Doctor and in my opinion the 2nd best!!(Tom Baker was and still is the best doctor who of all time)R.I.P. John..he was a lovely human being and a good actor, nobody else could have done worzel Gummidge~that was totaly "his".

  • BBC will only let us Americans watch season 6 and 10. That's not fair. We love Doctor who too.

  • @BondFreek That is unfair. We're all Who fans, so why can't we watch the show we love!

  • Don't ask me. Ask the BBC.

  • The BBC will only let us watch so much of Doctor Who, here in England

  • That's weird. They block thier country's capital city? That does not make scence. Maybe you have a computer with Microsoft published in the USA.

  • I love many shows Hulu, fancast and other u.s. only sites show :'( Copyright laws..

  • @amazinnsophii

    You are telling the truth!

Cheryl stood for election as the Labour Party parliamentary candidate for Canterbury in the 1997 General Election.

She also served as a member of Kent County Council, holding the position of Leader of the Labour group for a period.

She still acts occasionally, most recently in The Bill (2005), but her main job is now teaching. She teaches 12 to 16 year olds at Parkside Community School in Derbyshire.

    What a CV! From Wikipedia.

    How lucky for you!!!

  • Dated, but one of my first memories of classic Who. Excellent

  • How come I can get at Carnival of Monsters - which I have on DVD - but not Planet of the Spiders, which is blocked out of the country I'm currently in? Why exactly should my current physical location be a factor in whether or not I can see a particular video? How is this fair?

Oh, right. I said FAIR. Sorry 'bout that.

  • Thank you for uploading this. Excellent. A1.

  • For the sake of one advert being at the beginning of all the shows its well worth BBC uploading the classic episodes! Thank you!

  • Ah, but wait for Stephen Moffat (the new writer) to get stuck into it, he's more of a Doctor Who purist than Davies is. He also tends to do more subtle storylines, "Blink" was one of his, and genius in my book. :)

  • He also did Silence in the Library which is just GREAT!!!

  • he's going to be brilliant!

  • There is so much in this episode that epitomises this era of Doctor Who ! What a dichotomy between the brilliance of the ideas, and the rather lamentable (even for 1973) costumes/sets.

I love the idea of this story-it haunted me as a child (must have been a re-run)...

  • It probably goes without saying, but these Doctor Who shows are absolute classics. Pure nostalgia. Thank you BBC for making these available. Brilliant!

  • yeah

  • I haven't seen this story since it was first transmitted back in 1972. Brilliant.

  • i always have prefered the classic series of Dr who i always thought the fakness of some of the effects were what made it so good

  • It's good that these classic Doctor Who are now on YouTube. Hopefully some more will be available soon. The Sea Devils or Pyramids Of Mars would be most welcome.

  • now i have to lower the tone

nice bum in the jeans :P

  • Always loved this cliffhanger... So surreal as to be sublime.

  • At 03:12 you can clearly see the plain wall of the police box with no TARDIS interior.

  • I just love Dr. Who! what's wrong with me!?

  • Oy,Right...Lumixie good for the visual gullet !!!

  • thanks bbc,the last time i had the opportunity to see this was at about 5 o clock in the morning on uk gold a few years ago.I set my alarm but slept through it =(

  • Hats off to the BBC for putting these up :)

  • I know, I'm amazed at their Kindness here.

  • Hey! Its Harry Sullivan!

  • That's what I thought. Harry making an early appearance. Later on though Ian Marter did write a few episodes of Doctor Who after he finished with the part of Harry.

  • Great to see THE doctor back with great cliff hangers, special effects and monsters. I agree post more Pertwee and Baker (Tom that is!).

  • This is so very great.

  • Thank you BBC!!!!
