He's not getting many better offers. Once you've been in a teen drama and have grown up on screen, you sort of become that character and become typecast. I don't think anyone can see Pat Mastrioanni (sp) as anyone other than Joey, nor Amanda Stepto being anybody but Spike and so on.

I think the only people to really to wash off the Degrassi Stain were Dayo "BLT" Ade who ended up guesting on high-profile US drama and Bill "Shane" Parrott.

I have tried to watch new degrassi a few times? The only good parts is when some one like snake makes an appearence. HE still has great chemisty on screen. It's magic. I even have more admiration for the original serious then ever before and the team that put this together perfectly. Like every episodfe is classic even down to the square parents. spot on.

It is. Amanda Stepto never really did any other acting between the Degrassi generations (In fact a lot of the original cast got sparse work or changed track completely and became directors/writers/etc).

I used to watch this show on PBS back in the 80's. Spike is what you would have called a "new waver". I was one of them and there were very few at the time. Now it's popular to call them "goths". We wore a lot more black than spike did, but the hair was pretty similar. It's a nice memory of a good show that actually recognized a person like the "Spike" character. There was nothing else like it in the 80's. In America at least.

He takes some drugs given to him by Luke in Season 3 just before the Gourmet Scum concert. Next day, he's found under a bridge after being reported missing, having presumably jumped while high and remains comatose for a while. When he wakes up, he is brain damaged and his folks pack him off into a special school when 10th grade starts.

Emma was born in 1989 according to the new series, I'm not sure what year it is in the old series but I bet it's the same. The new series is about 2 seasons behind because they've done it by semesters rather than years. So Emma should've graduated in 2007 but the season actually aired 2008... This is way too dorky and complicated to even discuss, haha.

In generations Emma finds him (really another actor playing his role) in an institution still dealing with his so called fall from over 10 or 20 yrs ago. Which I found to been odd...seemed that during HS he rtned and seemed much better (even tried to reunite to Spike). Which is why original actor decided not to reprise his role
