@Francesca419 I have no idea where you got this story, but it is untrue. Paramount Studios, at that time owner to Rights to Star Trek gave sampling rights at $30,000. Leonard Nimoy did not go into a studio with the band and re-record his sample for them.
However, Nimoy was very influential in gaining permissions for the band. The bands attorney was none other than Adam Nimoy, his son. Adam asked Leonard to help expedite granting of sampling rights.

Yeah it's easy to hate on today's music, but I mean really, the 80's was the decade of one hit wonders ^^^^ which equals a lot of stink in the decade. And as much as I love the synth it really was used in almost every single song back then lol
