Did you find a way top modify the accent of the tempo clock in the 2488? Normally is on he first beat, but I need to get them sounds with the same note
@briandonald bro can u do a tutorial of the tascam 2488 conected with pro tools and show us what it can do!! please!!!!!!!!!! i havent found a video like that!
That's a "When Doves Cry" beat under that - where did you get that beat? Was that a sample or are you running a drum machine/sampler externally? If its a sample, where did you get it from? Is that on a sample disc? Thanks!
@wendileona Hey, you're the first to notice that. Actually, the Prince drums are coming from my MPC1000 which was sitting out of camera range. I bought some Linn Drum sound Wavs on CD from a cat off of eBay. I loaded them into the MPC and programmed the beat of When Doves Cry.
@briandonald Did you have to hook it up to a computer or could you put the CD straight into the recorder and it read it off of there? In other words...how did you get the drums onto the thing exactly? And have you tried using a drum machine with it? If so can you tell me a bit about it? Thanks!
@007WillSch Actually, no CD here. I used an Akai MPC 1000 (drum machine) for the kick, ,hat, snare and rim shot (Linn Drum 1 shot samples). It's out of camera view. The other drum sounds (indian drums, etc.) are from my Korg TR synth. I have The MPC, TR and TASCAM synched together via MIDI. I'm currently working on a project and I'm recording video from the sessions so maybe I'll post more video on how to sync up the 2488 with external devices.
A DUDE I SEE YOUR USING A TASCAM I WANTED TO KNOW IF YOU ALSO USE A PREAMP FOR YOU VOCALS OR ITS STRAIGHT MIC TO THE RECORDER. IM HAVING A PROBLEM WITH MY VOCALS NOT LIKE THE SOUND OF THEM AT ALL. I MAKE MY BEATS USING REASONS AND TRANSFER THEM OVER....WAS THINKING OF JUST RECORDING EVERYTHING ON MY MIXER.
@savannahslym Wassup man. I bought a pre-amp a couple of years ago but never use it. What kind of mic do you have? That makes a big difference. If you're using a condenser mic, make sure the phantom power is turned on. For the song in the video, I used an old Sony dynamic mic (can't find it, right now) but I also have a Shure SM58 dynamic and an AKG Perception 100 condenser. I get good results from those mics. Also, on this song, I used the the noise gate (NSP) and compression.
IM USING A AKG 220 CONDENSER MIC. THINKING OF USING OF USING A PREAMP JUST TO LIVING MY VOCALS UP GIVE IT NOT SO SOLO HOLLOW SOUND I HEAR. HOPEFULLY THAT WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN MY VOCALS MY TRACKS ARE ON POINT BUT THE VOCAL PRESENSE IS NOT THERE FOR MY MUSIC IT LACK THAT LITTLE ECHO EFFECT THAT LITTLE EXTRA PRESENCE BEHIND IT.
@savannahslym NSP and compression are built in the Tascam. Finally, I cloned my vocal tracks to help fatten them up. I have two tracks of lead and two tracks of background (which I recorded, sampled, and recorded again) vocals. Hope this helps. If you need help with your set up, holler at me.
I like the message and the groove. Who cares that you're not telling me anything about how to use the 2488.

@jafalib Yes, you should be able to MIDI them together. You will need some sort of Interface like an Mbox that has MIDI. It's relatively easy to do.
