I can't imagine any record label now letting their major artist take to the skies in a shopping trolley with wings and an engine. But that was the 70's. A decade of adventure playgrounds, chopper bikes and hot summers. I'm surprised any of us survived it.
Sat the clip today on VH1 Classics for the first time in my life. I've known the song but never what it was called. Thank God I know now and I've listened to it at least 20 times today. I absolutely love it.
@JapaninArmeija HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA best comment ever ! never expected that under a mike oldfield song XD ! My nipples explode with delight ! Drop your panties sir William, I cannot wait till lunchtime !
haa hah ha ha laughing my head off lol this is AWESOME as in immensely awesome you got to be kidding me that woudn't like this song otherwise I would knock their teeth out lol!
This is my favourite version of the Blue Peter theme for two reasons:
1 - I love Mike Oldfield as an artist anyway
2 - This is the version I remember most as it was shown all through the 80s when I was a child. I was actually born the year it was recorded/started being used.
@Teidi The question is actually: Since when he isn't afraid of flying anymore? Cuz indeed now he has his pilot license but in his earlier days he was afraid of flying, among many other things he was afraid of. The man knew a turbulent life. Read his biography, 'Changeling', very interesting book ...
I love those hovercrafts. especially the shot of the hovercraft blazing a trail across that field at 1:21. imagine; flying across the water spinning 360s while going in the same direction, that would be so kick rear. Mike Oldfield has got the stuff.
Ich hatte seinerzeit die Single. Die lief bei mir rauf und runter. Dass es dazu auch so ein lustiges Video gibt, wusste ich nicht. Auf jeden Fall ist Mike Oldfield ein Könner auf seinem Gebiet.
Thanks! I've been following him since 1970 and love his music.I think he must have done some of the "pop" songs to draw in a young audience for later appreciation of his much deeper art.

@Teidi The near accident that lead to 'Five Miles Out' was not with the man himself controlling the plane, but another pilot ...
